With the demise of CMS 20 and document films, I suppose I'll have to learn HR-50 now... This helps! My one-bottle experience with HR-Dev hasn't been too great for any film so glad to see FX-39 works well
I still haven't gotten over the demise of CMS 20... those rolls of 135, and box of 4x5 are very precious, just like the tiny stash of Kodak HIE... I am liking HR-50, though! Hopefully we'll see it in larger formats!
@@analogueandy8x10 Here's a sad fact, I bought a bulk roll of CMS during what turned out to be it's last month of availability, and thinking I would be able to buy more later, I burned half of it making development tests :, ) Oh well now I will cherish those last 8 rolls!
Thank you Andy, this was a lot of work for you! Great results, and this has been a very interesting comparison. Most films these days that claim near-IR sensitivity only go to 750 nm at best. They're fun too but this Adox reaches higher.
If it comes out in 120, I will use it, over Rollei IR. I'll continue to use Rollei IR 4x5, though...but that could change if HR-50 comes out in 4x5. HR-50 has more luminous shadows, even with a 720 filter.
How do you roll your film onto the spool with the film leader at the end of the roll (12:40 min mark). Interesting film, thanks for bring it to my attention. Nice clear base, bet it reverses process nice.
In the dark, I pull the film out of the canister, snip it free, then load the snipped end onto the reel first. I also do this with refillable cartridges, except that I open the cartridges first...😁
Yup, a bit rich from Adox to pre expose the film to just above zone 1, and then call it 'speed boost technology'. Even though I buy some of their products, but I think that they are full of shit!!!
I cut it down to 9.2mm and use it in my Minox subminiature cameras.

It certainly has a nice look in the IR range
i love these videos.
Beautiful with the 720 filter 0 stop

Work that I enjoy doing! Cheers, David!
I really liked the red filter and 720 shots. Deep contrast as well. Not sure if I'd use this over Rollei IR 400 though.

This film is my infrared film since 4 years, i found very interesting. For 120 i use respooled agfa aviphot
I've been using Rollei IR (which is basically aviphot) in 120 and 4x5. I also have some Aviphot in 8x10.
I really do hope that Adox rolls this stuff out in sheet film sizes, or at the very least, 120.

Nice idea when It will be produced in 4x5 or larger format. Could it be a contender for Rollei infrared film ??
I hope it comes out in 4x5!
never know they adox have started to make infraspectrum sensitized film.
This film is around since 2018 and still no news of bigger formats. Why do you think there ever will be one? Did you hear rumours?
No, I haven't heard anything from Adox, but I am hopeful, especially now that they have their 120 confectioning machine up and running.
Great test! Let us know what you think of FX39II.
Will do! I'm planning to do a comparison with FX39 II and XTol.

Marketing at its best!
