You thought this was gonna be a "Don't cry, Jennifer, everything's going to be alright" song. But in truth... it was a "Don't cry, Jennifer... He'll hear you" song.
@SuperZez That observation is very astute of you; it is the same thought that I had when I discovered the title of this song. In a way, this song is a representation of Jennifer's need to master her own fears if she wishes to overcome the sinister nature of the Scissorman~
when it's all silent and suddenly THIS SHIT breaks the silence, it gives me a feeling of intense dread and adrenaline, a feeling not many other games today give me.
This music was not just made like that. They tested it on other humans for psychology observance. (And yes, I'm a fucking nerd. What are you going to do about that?)
I am pretty sure that was the tone they were going for. If you listen to the theme "Goblin" from the film "Suspiria" by italian film director Dario Argento, you will find it similar to the setting of Clock Tower. Like literally the whole game is inspired by Argento's other film "Phenomena"/"Creepers". Clock Tower is a Japanese retelling of an Italian horror hahaha
TheRandomGamer Maybe the title is supposed to say "Don't Lose Hope, Jennifer!" Think about it, Jennifer is fighting against a DEMON. A LITERAL DEMON. How is she supposed to hope that she can fight, withstand, or ESCAPE said demon?
This theme gives Bobby a huge psychalogical bonus aggainst you! As soon as you hear this theme, you always feel petrified as you hear those scissors snap, louder and louder! Franticly running as the scissorman slowly but relentlessly attempts to seal your doom! This was a masterpiece among horror games, removing the tools that would keep you safe! Only giving them to you very rarely! The terrifying seconds you have to find a safe spot is what mafe it truly terrifying! ClockTower, I salute you!
I revisit this track so often for the nostalgia hit. It always strikes me as such clever sound design to have a stereo sweep with drum kicks that are basically indistinguishable from the door opening sound effect to panic the player and confuse them where Bobby is approaching from. Retro horror really was an entirely different beast due to the clever workarounds on weak hardware.
to me the badassness means one of 2 things, either you, the player, are badass, or the thing chasing you is. in the case of Clock Tower, it was the thing chasing you.
Scissorman is a pathetic chicken with 2 swords. If scissorman messed with me, I'd fight with lightning. I'd find the nearest source of electricity and route it into his scissors, therefore zapping them out of his hands. And still, those scissors are so heavy, I don't even think that he would stand a chance against me. I'd probably move swiftly to avoid his attacks, and use the power of arduino and science to kick him to the stone age. Then I would return to playing video games. tl:dr I wouldn't put up with his crap.
@@1d10tcannotmakeusername ...it's a demonic child with a giant pair of scissors and most of the power will be cut in the building. You're not a threat. You're a plaything and Bobby tends to break his toys.
as funny as the jontron video is this game actually has a very creepy and ambient vibe to it and the jarring transition to this scissorman theme is always startling and panic inducing. wandering around the dimly lit house accompanied only by the sound of your footsteps knowing that the scissorman could be anywhere at any time creates a great sense of dread and paranoia. this is a truly underrated horror game.

As much as I hate when a game adaptation isn't faithful... seeing the full game's endings I had to say I would love a Clock Tower movie. SPOILER AHEAD IN THIS COMMENT! Like combine her falling AND have her be electrocuted?
Kirito Kazuto There WAS going to be a movie? Oh wow, did someone murder the director because the director was not going to make the movie they wanted? XD Or maybe it was Bobby. O_O
I can't be the only one that wants this is Dead by Daylight, right? This would make for some fucking scary terror radius music, and the Scissorman as a killer would be great. I can already imagine the mori animation: the survivor is standing there like a dumbass only for the Scissorman to fly down and stick his scissors in their back with a big twist, stepping away and doing that little dance. Kanonelsebas There are a few thins interesting things about Scissorman:1.In order to trigger him, you need to examine a object. Things change when you enter rooms, pick up items, use items, solve puzzles, etc..2. In the later games, enemies COULD COME OUT OF NOWHERE. Say you are in a random room. Moon_Bunny25 Your brother is the Scissorman!! Hah, just kidding!
LET GO OF MY PURSE, I DON'T KNOW YOU
@@LuffyBlack THAT'S MY PURSE!!
Can’t wait to hear this remade for the upcoming remaster from WayForward. Time to bring in the ham, a Scissorman’s worst enemy. XD
It’s a port.
Wheres my lasagna, Jon?
If Clock Tower had more games on Nintendo consoles, I could see Scissorman being in smash Bros somewhere. Probably a spirit, but still!
Here's my version:
Character you fight: Young Link in his Dark Link costume
Stage: New Pork City
Music: Encounter from MGS
Rules:
-Survive until the timer runs out
-You start with 300% Damage
-The enemy favors grabs and throws
It would be a support spirit that gives you improved escape when you use it
(Yes ik that the company that made Clock Tower is defunct but still)
OH MY GOD I AM OUT OF HERE, but then again that did look alot like Angus Young, BUT HIS SIGNATURE DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING IF IM DEAD, but i'm a huge AC/DC fan so maybe i'll check one more time just to make sure that it sin't him
Your friend falls from the tall ceiling only to be impaled by a malformed creature with gigantic garden scissors. Run.
But the others...

This game needs to be remade and it would be a very good movie
If it's right it would be a super creepy horror movie.
What if the scissor man just wanted to cut hair?
This is scary as fuck. Have you ever listened to this in a lonely, shady room?
1 like = 1 ham picked up
I'VE GOT A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU!!!!
People don't come over anymore...
“This’ll kill him!”
People haven’t come over in many years.
Might as well get a few smoked ham
This was my first and favorite of the original point and click horror 💖 this chase music!
You *complete* me *Jon*
The fact that this game is on the SNES blows my mind. Classic horror.
Jason had a machete
Freddy had a creepy claw hand
Scissorman? He’s got scissors.
The duality of man.
"Bullets dont work Jon."
"Ham, the harbinger of gout"
POV: You're running from a Luigi Ghost.
