Its refreshing to see actual quality content on youtube.
My family had a holiday in Flinders Island in 1972 and I remember how as a child, twelve yrs old, I was mortified by the shameful history of how Aboriginal people had been treated there and could feel the pain still etched on the land of their peoples' torturous treatment. A trip by a supply ship to Cape Barron Island took us to the mutton-birding community which was run by the remaining aboriginal people who were of mixed ancestry with British whalers & sealers. We also visited Kilikrankie mining area and found crystals. I was recalling these memories to someone just the other day....Thanks for this vid, Erin & Rob.
Our aunties used to soak the shells in urine to take the top coat off to see the markings and made them shiny 🐚 we used to camp at the bay when i was a kid, and my mum and i would find huge diamonds. They weren't worth any money back then.
Nice trip down memory lane 💎
oh awesome, what a fun upbringing you must of had in an amazing area making memories. Thanks for the tip on the shells!
That dog just melted my heart he was so damn cute!!
Ernie stole the show.

OMFG that might be your best video ever. The background story of the island is sombre but your adventure with Erin was a revelation. More of you as a duo please. 💖
Wow thanks so much! It’s certainly something different to what I’m used to, glad you enjoyed it. 😃
@@Rob.Parsons I imagine it must also feel safe with Erin on standbye with the baked beans and tofu. 😃

What an adventure, thank you.
Another epic tale and was nice to see your lovely Erin getting some of these shells, I have had Marina shells for years and are amazed by their beauty. Flinders and King Island have such clear and clean air and their nature is truly beautiful. Once again you never fail to give us perfection.
Thanks so much for the beautiful comment! 😊
Gotta get that Diamond for Erin! Gold + Diamond... we know what that means ;)
Yet another great video Rob. Good to see Erin participating with you this time. Considering I lived in Tassie for 12 years, I had never really known a lot about Flinders Island. I knew where it was situated but nothing regarding it's sordid past. A very educational tour of the island, thanks mate.
Thankyou for the history lesson. Awesome video as always. Keep it up
Well done mate, your research and description of the places you go is great. I really felt the shame of our early chapters in the way we decimated the aboriginal culture, you highlighted this in your introduction, very well articulated and delivered with compassion. Great video too boot.
Wow..That looks like a ton of fun!! What a beautiful place!! Glad I clicked on this and watched it all the way. And a AirBnb???🤩🤩😍😍 good stuff!!
Thanks a heap nick I appreciate the feedback :)
Mmmm, so many rocks on the beach!! So many treasures to find there, even without the beautiful shells ❤️
Hard work paid off Congratulations! 🎉 With a pal like Erin you were bound to succeed!!

What a cool adventure
Beautiful scenery, history, physically active work, and a happy friend. This was wonderful. Thanks for doing this.
I was lucky enough to be part of the redevelopment at the Flinders island multi-purpose centre and spend a number of weeks on the island over the space of a year. The locals where fantastic, but it really was like going back in time 😂
Absolute beautiful part of Tasmania.
Always wanted to go to Flinders Island. Lovely journey with Erin and yourself. So pleased you found the shells and diamonds. A must do for me. Nice abnb to have come across.
Thanks for sharing and this time your partner was with you... and a B&B; what could be better? Finding a Tobaz 'diamond'! Cheers from Canada 😁👍
My pleasure mate glad you enjoyed it. 🙏
Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures brother ✊🏽 "Winter" no problems... 👌🏽
Watched and enjoyed. Outdoors and real-life living is weirdly interesting to me, well not outdoor stuff, camping etc. is fun to see. Loved it when Erin didn't feel like going one time.
Your lucky to have such a good woman beside you. Great content, as good as gold man. Thanks for sharing this place.
Great video 🎉and congratulations to your findings.🎉
Love to watch this, i live in Norway and we have alot of beautiful nature but nothing like this, need to visit one day, have a good day and keep the amazing content coming 🌞
I was just in a opal and gold episode rabbit hole and started thinking about you. I hadn't seen any videos from you lately and realized I don't have my notification Bell on. It's all sorted out now and I won't miss another episode. 👍
Nice video, thanks guys!!
Hi Rob. Very interesting story. A point of fact; Botany Bay was never a colony. It was regarded as unsuitable by the first fleet in 1788 that chose to settled in Port Jackson also known as Sydney Harbour.
The place Botany Bay was as you have said, but until well in the 1800s the colony was called Botany Bay, especially in England. Some folk songs used it too. I think for a video for an global audience, Botany Bay is ok to use. Interesting subject though.
Thank you Rob and Erin. My family and I are heading there when the weather gets better so it’s fantastic to see a pre glimpse on what to expect 😁👍
Beautiful island. Thanks for showing us your diamond adventure
My god, this hit me right in the feels :) Great work team...
