    Very good information and well explained. Going to add one more, based on my experience. If you run a precsion turbo make sure you have an oil pressure regulator. My PTE has too much oil pressure going into the turbo, there for causing the smoke.

    What about in my case my T2 smokes heavily on start up and once I start driving it it clears up and won’t smoke anymore once hot. The smoke is blueish so it is oil being burned but it completely goes away after being warmed up and doesn’t even smoke on decel. I just barely rebuilt the engine like a year ago which is kinda annoying but I did use the atkins viton o-rings and did reuse the trays instead of buying new ones.

    It has a header and a 4 inch all the way back to a high power HKS muffler im thinking because of back pressure????

  • @AndrewFerranRcjourneyz
    @AndrewFerranRcjourneyz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Right!! it shuts off sometimes on decell does some kind of back fire thing and shuts off but it starts right back up is it a back pressure problem???

    I’m surprised you don’t premix in your RX-8. I was lead to believe that they didn’t oil enough from the factory to meet emissions regulations, which was the cause for the premature engine failures (compared to the earlier rotaries), is this not the case?

    • @RADPotential
      @RADPotential  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a street car you're not really beating on them hard at all. Would see more carbon build up and stuck seals. Vs lack of lubrication failure. In a track oriented machine. Then yes. Premix away.

    • @rotaryrex8908
      @rotaryrex8908 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      RX8 main failure is lack oil in chamber due to lack of oil ports trying to meet emissions ... You def should premix your RX8 it's literally the no 1 failure

    • @ThreeDaysOfDan
      @ThreeDaysOfDan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RADPotential and premixing helps with carbon build-up , pre mix oil is made for 2 stroke engines that are notorious for piston carbon build-up, the oil helps keep that stuff low

    Mine was smoking under hevy acceleration olny till recently and now is smoking no matter what. I cant tell what the smoke is coming from cause i thought it was brake fluid but it is white with maybe a little grey but probably just white and it has no smell. Its a 12a engine in a 79 rx7. Do you know where i should start?

    My fd smokes pretty good on start up but not at all during hott running or decel or anything like that. Just when it’s cold. It has a second hand single turbo on it which I think is the culprit

    if your carburetor floods and you wait for it to unflood the gas will seep down the chambers into your engine and your car WILL smoke, and the SMOKE IS NOT BLACK. I can't stress this ENOUGH. The engine is NOT running rich after that initial start-up, it just has a bunch of residual oil and gas mixed together that burns for a good minute. So please make sure your carb doesn't leak at all before tripping balls.

    Um the renesis has a restricted oil injector Pinole, I seen a video dude dissemble one... for sure they had too.. the epa’s grievances for the oil injected engines aka our love and the 2stroke dirt bike... so to pass emissions that’s why it’s equipped with the dual housing short oil injectors to run 2 drop lines vs the older single droplet and long vacuum drawl manifold atomizing injector...

    Hey man, I 100000000% disagree with your thoughts on premix in an RX-8, here’s why-
    The oil injectors in an RX-8 are controlled by vacuum, and a lot of the times you will find that the oil injectors themselves have failed and do not hold vacuum anymore.
    I’ve worked on hundreds of RX-8s and seen this dozens of times on engines anywhere from 50k miles to upwards of 150k miles.
    Always always ALWAYS premix your rx8. I don’t care who says what.
    Not to mention, the OMP on the rx8 is electronic, that’s obvious, BUT what’s NOT obvious is that the OMP flows it’s max output at only 7700 rpm, and the map that controls the OMP stepper motor limits the stepper motor a TON in order to be more emissions friendly.
    So if you’re not going to premix, at the very LEAST change the stepper motor map on the omp and check your oil injectors religiously, or simply premix .5-1oz per gallon.
