    Thanks for the demo, I never thought disabling string with the sensitivity feature. I will definitly do that! I also have to learn how to create my own preset even if I would probably go for the GR-33 in the near future as it seems pretty close but better than this one.
    After one year using it, I manage to find really interesting sounds, and ways to use it in a "not so kitsch" way. I like this pedal so much, I almost use it in every creations.

      Even if in my opinion the Gr-20 and Gr-33 have both some vintage 80's sounds that could be interesting. It's been said that the gr-33 is the best fit even if it is old, in terms of lantency, the price is also quite descent.

      Th GR55 is the one you want it has all the features this has ( but drastically updated .....much better tracking and less latency and 900 synth sounds ) additionally the gr55 has extensive 100% Latency free great sounding instrument modeling with things like Rickenbacker 12 strings , Strats , Les pauls, Danelectro sitars , Martins, Guilds, on and on etc amp modeling too! The gr55 is a great tool for the working musician....so much right in the box dont waste your money on a GR 20......... if jerry was still alive he'd be using one for sure

    This is cool, and I've been using Roland GR gear for over 10 years. I'd like to make one important point of clarification for your followers. You continually used the word MIDI. In the very beginning of the video you got it right. It's a 13 Pin cable. But it is not MIDI. Yes, many of the GR units support MIDI to act as sound modules, but the connection type is simply 13 Pin. This is an important distinction because if people don't understand this they may develop an expectation it will work with Fishman's Triple Play setup, which is actually MIDI. We know some of Jerry G's guitars had the GK/GR modification. It was fun to hear him explore the sounds, but alas, some of his exploring was in front of all of us live. Listening to those old recordings now, I'd wish he would have learned more about the GR gear. Happy to see you have it integrated it with your guitar. Nice touch. And, regardless of folks using fancy saddle pickup systems for the GR, the Roland GK pickup system is the best way to go, in my opinion.Otherwise, tracking becomes a pain. Also, fun video knowing the GR20, is still a fun piece of gear to play with. I have the GR 30, 33, 55. Very interesting technology indeed. Thank you for the video :)

      A simple Google search of the user reviews show it gets low marks due to the multiple software logins and poor hardware design. Looks like Roland’s ease-of-use and lack of 3rd party interference is a better option, but you know it all, so I guess you win, huh?

      @@tim.casey.11 Hi Tim. First, i should disclaim my user name. Don't take it to seriously, I don't. But hey, it's youtube! lol. I honestly am not sure what you are referring to in terms of the the google searches and low marks. If your point is, Roland is better option, I would agree having invested lots of time with 13 pin guitars. The other side is MIDI and these are great options too, but I would agree (if this is your point), Roland GR's are a better option. Hope you didn't preceive my initial comment was a jab, it as intended as construstice comment since the cables for both connection types are similar.

    • @PHREDinstruments
      @PHREDinstruments  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, thank you for the correction, the pickup on the guitar is not a MIDI pickup. The Roland pickup on the guitar is what Roland calls a "divided pickup", and the 13-pin cable sends a signal from the divided pickup to the GR-20, where I'd imagine the signal is converted to MIDI (note, attack, velocity, pitch bend, sustain, release, etc), before it gets to the internal GR-20 MIDI sound bank.

      @@mrknowitall9778 Seems very nit picky, tho. Is this a distinction without a difference? I didn’t address your Google question, the software Fishman uses appears to be complicated with multiple sign ins per module and the pickup did not fit LP guitars easily without modification, per a few reviews on Google.
      If the 13-pin connector is the only thing in common between Roland and Fishman, I do see your point.
      Is Roland just cutting up “MIDI samples” vs. Fishman actually using pickup signal to play the intended instruments?

    Not MIDI .....it's Roland's proprietary system . The GR-20 unit can be used as a MIDI controller though......that's why there is a MIDI in and out. You can use the guitar with DAWs instead of the sounds inside the synth unit itself......but the 13 pin system is not MIDI

    • @PHREDinstruments
      @PHREDinstruments  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, the Roland divided pickup is not a MIDI pickup. The GR-20 synths can be triggered by MIDI in, but some of the newer GR systems that have MIDI in, are not MIDI sound modules, from what I've read. With that being said, are there any Roland GR systems or other Roland synths that accept 13-pin input that don't also have MIDI output? The main purpose of the Roland GK-3 Divided pickup for guitar is to trigger proprietary Roland synth gear or to send a MIDI out signal to other MIDI sound modules or DAWs.
