I'm a little confused is brown or red bar the same as recessive red?? If I breed red bar cock to recessive red hen... Would I get recessive red babies?
+George Bush Ash red bar, brown bar and recessive red are all 3 different. Watch my base color video to learn about brown, blue and ash red. If you breed an ash red bar to a recessive red you will only get RR babies if the ash red carries recessive red. In which case you would get 50% RR or as it is genetically symbolized as e//e.
+George Bush Yeap, being recessive many of your birds could carry it and you will never know until you get two together. Two birds that both carry the gene will produce 25% Recessive red, 25% will carry the gene like the parents and the other 50% will have no RR gene at all. If you want more take the young reds and breed back to the parents.
Im a pigeon breeder. Been doing it for 50 years. You should see the great new characteristics ive come up with. They're really something.
