I'm still driving my 1999 DODGE STRATUS. I'm at 215,899 miles now! I bought it 2nd hand through a reputable used dealer that I also bought a 1998 breeze with manual shift. This is my third and I've done alot of replacement fixes myself and gained knowledge. I keep it simple. Replace with OEM PARTS! Learn to fix and maintain your cars, not just buy pretty lights, big wheels, and cool body panels, then not understand simple auto mechanics.
Dude same ive had a few problems with mine but I love it! Mine is the STX Coupe has 210000 on it! Just had a problem the other day with a sensor, but I plan on keeping up with this car!
i got a high mileage 2002 stratus SE that i picked up for a couple benjamins ,and cosmetics aside, the thing is mint! beast sound system (for stock) and about 35/40 mpg, decent power, and the ac turns the car into an ice box in the heat of summer! the kicker is,its still running strong!, 192k on the dash and no check engine lights or anything!
Well I am on my 3rd Stratus, bought and sold a 2001 SE so after that I bought 2oo2 STratus SE exact same color and everything and with 223K this car is still running great. I also own a 2001 Stratus R/T with a 3.0 liy and I keep on hearing about these transmissions going out but i have not had a major problem with any3 of mine. They start...they go...they're still going and I for one am very satisfied with the Dodge Stratus. I have 173K on my RT and invisioning it going easily to 300K. Oh wait there is one bad issue, my 2002 SE you either have the heat/.AC on high or off. Just ain't felt like replacing the control panel for the heater. Thanks for the video.
The SXT coupe comes with the 4 cyl...and yes they come in the 4 door sedan models also. And btw I am on my 7th Stratus now, 4 of which have been the couple (R/T's w/ the 3.0) and 3 sedans. Ive been lucky as far as not having the issues these guys are talking about but I'm well aware of them. Which is why ANY car with high mileage you HAVE to run FULL SYNTHETIC OIL in them...it's worth the extra few bucks trust me and that is why I don't have the issues with them. First thing I do is change the oil to synthetic and not synthetic blend oil. I love the car and doing timing belt, water pump, and all that now in my 2005 RT cuz the crank positioning sensor went out so while im in there...good luck
I love American cars. I've been buying them since I was 18. They're really stylish and reliable. It's 2017 and I haven't had any major issues with any of my cars. All four (2001 Chrysler 300M, 2013 Cadillac Escalade, 2005 Dodge Stratus and my 2013 Jeep Wrangler) are still going strong.
Owned three of the Cirrus/Stratus cloud cars. Loved them all. Fantastic handling and comfort for long road trips. They were all 1st generation models which I prefer due to the bad rap the 2nd gens suffered with the 2.7L which is true for the early models. Had some issues which is expected due to age and wear and tear for the miles put on them as I do a lot of heavy driving but all of them have had over 200k miles on them and still ran like a top. Only transmission Issues I had was with a 1995 model which turned out to be a defective Trans Computer which strangely enough is interchangeable with a Caravan Computer of the same year. $30 at a junkyard. The V6's in the first gens are all Mitsubishi 2.5L motors and every one of them has been solid. (there is the near identical 3.0L motor available for the 2nd Generation Coupes which is easily interchangeable for upgrading a first gen car). One did develop some mild smoking at idle (oil burning) at around 160k miles but still ran great until it got rear ended. I still have my 2000 Stratus ES which is still running great at 204k miles with the original engine and transmission. We have a group on Facebook called The Statusphere Forum where you can chat with fellow owners. facebook.com/groups/1655723377993705/
Also the #1 transmission killer is people using Dextron or universal trans fluid. These units are very sensitive to fluid viscosity and the additives used in non Mopar fluids. Use ATF+4 fluid in these things and keep them topped off to the correct level... period. But the best thing is the parts are indeed cheap. If you do your research and know how to work on them it is not a terrible car to have for a DIY mechanic. Only thing I HATE is the battery being in the wheel, however a lot of people wind up getting relocation kits that can place them in the trunk instead.
@@travisj4304 mostly cause it was trashed by the pervious owner, but in ways you couldn't tell for a while, I'm already looking to sell it so whatever heh
I have a 2005 w the 2.4 auto. its not a bad little car, if you consider that it is a dodge and its not some high end car. Ive got 220k on mine and have never done anything other than minor work. (timing belt, spark plugs oil etc.) the only thin out of the ordinary that I have had to replace on it since new were a few bushings on the front end. (but with over 200k on it thats not surprising.) My biggest complaint is the headlights... they SUCK ASS. always foggy no matter what i clean or do to them.
I have a 2005 dodge stratus and my front passenger window won't go down. Been the only problem so far. Other than that, it's a very reliable car. It has 155,820 miles on it. Best car I had in a long time.
on May 5, 2015 I saw this vid like 4 days before I bought my 2005 Stratus excellent conditions. now on 12/15/2015 I have all the problems he said motor mounts. transmission fluid leaking. But still such a good car really spacious. If I go back in the past I would buy it again. if anybody has a question about buying a stratus message me and if I can help I will
I have a 2005 dodge stratus sxt 2.4liter 8 have just found a puddle of some type of oil back behind the engine it seem like it may be coming from a part metal line that runs to the front of the engine? any idea what it is? car runs good and is very smooth other then a vibrating sterring wheel. Car only has 117 thousand miles on it. I just changed spark plugs but did not change the wires so I got some order hoping that will fix vibration.just bought the car few days before christmas just concerned about the puddle of oill????
Chris Brown 1+is your car making a noise or does it vibrate every time you make a full stop? 2=for the oil. check the oil filter located underneath the engine, cuz I got the same problem. somehow the filter always leaks in my car!
I have a 1st year 2nd generation dodge stratus, yip shocks/stuts go ( I'm in wisconsin , they actually rusted out) ! broke and blew out a tire rubbing on body. the water pump's been changed, air cond. compressor went / new one installed for $500 , went through 3 starters, but with the short that would blow out the fuse all the time we've had more starters and batteries installed than need be. We paid some mechanic $250. and he either found the short or the really costly battery he put in stopped the problem of fuse going and dead car problem. new fuel regulator and fuel rails/ all new fuel pump might be on are third charged $1000. or 900 for new steering pieces and alignment, all totaled I thing we must of spent $6000. if you add up the $500. dollars charges and the 1,000 charges. I spent 450 on brake parts just for the back alone and I did it my self no labor. my engine is the 2.7 were on 205,000 american miles. The timing cover has to come back off as the guys that did the water pump used rv silicon red and it;s failed in one spot on the bottom of cover . there are good things about the car. Starts when below zero, heat and air worked good until vent system broke down and the blender door motor went through 2 we gave up as were not buying service and all new vent pipes . I tied a wire on the blender door it's normal heat during the winter. if Iget it in the right spot. Can't find a spot to get out much air but air works good if I could.
I got an 06 sxt with a 2.7 Litre Engine and 111k miles. The sound system that bumps, but the oil sending unit / Oil pressure sensor is faulty. First I thought the motor was blown, but after looking it over, all the oil came out of the bad sensor. It was an easy but annoying job! I had to remove splash guard a bunch of plastic pins, I had to remove 3 long bolts that held a tin shield over the unit. Then there was that stupid clip on the adapter... Was not as easy as I thought, and with the tin shield hiding the sensor, it was hard to find. Thank God my sister loaned me a special tool called a 1 & 1/16 Oil Sender Socket. I would have never been able to do the job without it. Yay my car is fixed (no mechanic)!
I have a 2004 stratus sxt 2.4 liter with 4 speed auto and it has 155.000 miles and I haven't had the first problem except I needed a battery but that's gonna happen on any 10+ year old car. I think the problem with most stratus' are their cheap so a lot of broke young people buy them and don't do maintenance. I saw one the other day and the owner was complaining I shouldn't have bought a dodge I knew the trans would go out at 160k miles and when I checked the trans fluid it was empty. It don't matter what you drive without oil or trans fluid it's gonna blow. Do maintenance and don't drive like your in the Indy 500 and they will all go 200k no problem.
Tammy Forbes im looking a 2005 dodge stratus and wondering how much it costs if you have to repair and buy parts. Are dodge parts more expensive than toyota?
I learned this the hard way. A shop claimed they did my oil changed on my 2007 Toyota Camry. I needed to make sure it was change before my 11 hour drive. I drove 11 hours with no oil. Didn’t know until I got there 😭😭 five months later engine misfire. Cylinder 2 out in engine at 183k miles. Bad baby drove me a good 50k miles when I bought it. So I’m buying. A 2004 dodge stratus tm with only 108k miles on it. I’m hoping it last me longer, I will most def keep up on oil changes and maintenance
I have a 2001 se and it does run good sound system puts my old Buick to shame 181650 miles and still running smoothly I get about 35 MPG city 40 on the highway which is likely due to the fact that I heavily use cruise control and take off like a turd
Heh. I just realized I commented on this video 4 years and 45k miles ago. 129k and still a rock solid car. The worst thing I've had to do to it? New AC high-side hose.
my boyfriend has the exact car you own but the stereo does not work and the front and rear windows on the passenger side on the left does not work. and the factory radio doesn't work any longer. what could be the problem. could the fuzes have gone bad? what should he do. And also when he starts the car, the oil signal comes on is it a sign he could be low on oil? but anywho, lemme know okay? thanks.
The window problem is more then likely a broken wire or 10 in the door hinge area. The wiring harnesses go through these rubber boots and have a tendency to break after so long. Dodge uses larger gauge wire which doesn’t hold up to the bending when the door is opened and closed. My 05 stratus did this in all 4 doors. After replacing switches and motors with no luck, It dawned on me that they worked sometimes when the doors were open. I ended up cutting the boot on two of them because they are a b!&:$ to remove and replace..use those clip connectors which will help absorb some of the wear. The radio issue might be a wiring issue as well. The interior light in mine never worked, I still have it and have since 2008. It’s down at the moment because it has the 2.7l v6 with a water pump going out. It is expensive and difficult to fix so have to take it to a repair shop instead of trying it on my own. Love the car though. Best car I’ve ever owned. It has its problems but every vehicle I’ve owned have had their own set of issues as well, they just didn’t last as long as this one. And they are actually one of the best designs for the type of engine. Ran off chains instead of a belt. Problem is the water pump comes apart. Doesn’t pump water at all and no way to tell until it’s gone to pieces and tore up the chains etc. Then it’s too late. I caught mine in time. Possible just runnin new wiring from the stereo and speakers would bypass the old wiring problem. It would buy time to really look at the wire itself for any damage. Hope that helps some..a ramble but I do like the car a lot lol.
The three windows not working but the driver window working can also be that the child lockout is on or faulty. I had to replace my window switch recently because my auto down didn't work anymore and the replacement fixed the other windows at the same time.
I just purchased a 2001 Dodge Stratus with 150,000 miles for $12,500 from a local dealer. It overheats regularly and I can smell gasoline in the cabin. I love it though. The sound system rawks! It has so much more power than my 1993 Geo Metro. I can’t wait to drive it to California from Tuscaloosa this Winter. I named her “Tiffany Lynn” after my cousin. Roll Tide!
Hi. Just subed & liked. My friend & myself were thinking about doing a car swap. He has a 2001 Stratus, & I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban. While doing my research I have heard bad things about the Stratus & also other Chrysler vehicles as well. Not just the battery location but on the engine there have been major issues with the timing chain and the water pump leading to big problems. If you could fit it into your schedule, maybe there would be a way you could discuss these issues. Oh, and by the way, the Car swap is OFF. Sincerely, JAMES.
I got mine 2002 Dodge Stratus SE 2.4L DOHC 16v. 161k miles as buy car 400$. Was issue waterpump, and oil pressure switch, setting timing belt, and new radiator, new transmission filter. New key ignition, renewed titles trade..... car is no problem to me.
Spot On! My 04' Stratus 140k front suspension went. Motor mounts deteriorated. Trans is holding strong. The parts are very cheap! and couple TH-cam vids to learn how to replace/some weekends and you're good. Interior is best part of these models. PoorMans - College dudes car for sure lol. (4 Shitz n giggles) a new Macbook pro costs more than the value O.O Murica!
Nathan Scott how did you get your upper control arm off to switch the ball joints did you have to compress the spring and take it apart because i cant find front springs that come with balljoints?
CASEYPIE cerza. Maybe you should check your coolant hoses, overflow tank and hose radiator and water pump for leaks. It called opening your hood and performing maintenance.
What size motor? Some of these had the internal water pump with the weep hole to indicate a problem. It starts as a small leak and gradually gets more. Have you heard it boiling the water out into the fill can? Mine never over heated but I’d shut it off and water would bubble into the tank very loudly. I stopped driving it when I did some research on the 2.7l v6. Internal pumps.
Do you have 2.4 engine? And what rpms does it shift at? The one im lookin at shifts at 4,000 rpms to hit second gear? Just seems high likr bands or sensor is gettin tired..
ERICtheLATE it’s a dodge thing. Just keep your transmission maintained and change out the transmission filter and pan gasket at about 100,000 miles or as it says in your owners manual. Keep to that schedule they have in the book for everything and it’ll last a long time.
in ?a 2005 stratus, what would be the cause for the dome lights, door locks, radio and power mirrors to stop working all at once and the fuses under the dash are good
Lenell Goggins broken wiring in the door jams more then likely. Pull the boot back to see the wires. I’m betting you will find some broken ones in there. I’m not sure where to look for all the other things. Start at the beginning of the harness and check the condition of the wires. Hope this helps.
I love my dodge stratus had a ball joint replaced and a timing belt. The only problem I have now is that the gas sensor isn't working right. Gotta go by miles. I can 330 miles before running outta gas. Mines a 2004. Go check it out on my profile
Have you heard anything about headlight problems? My auto dim shuts my headlights off completely, and they won't come back on afterwards. Caution, flash to pass, interior and dash lights all work, and dims work until I turn them to brights. Terrifying to drive at night. Any suggestions?
+Brandi Dean Yes, That problem is actually quite simple. I had that problem before. It's an easy fix. Roughly around thirty bucks ! ....Buy me dinner, and I'll get you a wedding ring !, Simple fix !
I have a 2004 that had only 84k it really is a good car however the AC is a little tricky the tranny so far so good. I put on some aluminum rims 7x15 and had to ad spacers to help fit over the brakes. It has a wider stance which makes it corner really well. but I need to be careful not to bottom out. I have etched my rear tire a bit next time will go with lower profile tire.
Just bought a '95 with 60k miles on it today. It feels great when whipping around but it does seems to have a low bassy jutter in low gear or neutral (almost like you might feel on a boat). I am using the car out of necessity to get to work for the time being, hope to sell before it hits 100k. What do I need to look out for as this is going to be my car for at least the next year.
had a 2004 4 cyl stratus used, steering wheel vibrated like crazy whenever the car was stopped in gear, banging noise started coming from the back of the car on bumps, radiator blew, car misfired every once in a while, could hear exhaust coming out from the drivers side, had mad rust on the bottom of the car all around the outside, it was fucked with only 130k miles lmao
I just bought a 2002 dodge stratus and it has 79,000 miles on it and when I start it it takes a minute to start and when I put on the brake there is a knock sound I'm hearing??? And I'm missing a motor mount my brother told me
Strange. I've had mostly Dodge's and Chrysler, and I've never had issues with the transmission...except in my 2001 PT Cruiser which was the last Chrysler I've driven.
I got one you do have a few problems with one but if you fix it it will keep on going mine is a 2006 i have spent about 1500 hundred since i bought it new
My question is if a Dodge car needs repair, how expensive would that be? Say if I have to replace tires and brakes, would that cost more than a toyota? I avoid brands like BMW, Lexus, Mazda, and Mercedes of course.
Ryuseiken Kyokushin no, it’s not that expensive when you find an honest mechanic. They have profited off of the bad rap these cars have gotten when in fact they are just like the rest of the car models out there. Look at the mess the trailblazers ended up being. My God! I lost a lot of respect for chevys when I purchased my 05 trailblazer ls. Talk about a screw over on the blazer rep. It’s a joke! Good trucks but you will be spending and or learning how to maintain this very sensitive motor all the time. I can fix any trailblazer only because I’ve completely replaced and cleaned up everything on the motor except for internal motor. It’s been cleaned and treated with synthetic oil and block treatments just in case. Bad maintainance by previous owner. The struts aren’t to bad for the parts and easy to replace with spring clamps etc to do it right yourself. I’ve replaced sway bars, tie rods, struts, control arms, all of it and I did so by watching TH-cam and reading forums..I’m also a 5’ tall woman in my 30s. Not that hard to do to justify the cost at a shop. Tires will run around $309 for all new tires. Don’t let them fool you into that trap.
Hi i am planning to buy an 04 stratus v6. It looks very very similar to my dads 99 sebring jx convertible. I have worked on that car and it is a pain! PAIN! Have you done any real replacements pertaining to the motor? I would hate to have basically another sebring on my hands to where i have to take the intake manifold off and replace a gasket just to change spark plugs. Is this similar to a sebring?
+Dadicus182 Yes. The Sebring and Stratus (and I guess you could include the Dodge Intrepid as well) are sister vehicles. The only difference is Chrysler is luxury while the Dodge is more sporty. The Sebring and Stratus's looks has been upgraded in 2001 and they upgraded the grill in 2004. Also if you are getting one with a V6, don't get a 2.7 liter engine. I've heard 100s of complaints about that one.
Had a 2002 Stratus 2.4 I bought with 120,000 miles already on it and took it to 235,000 when someone retired it when they crashed into it at high speed while it was parked on the curb. Believe I could have gotten 300,000 out of her. Got up to 30 mph when riding by myself long distances on the highway and 22-23 combined. Transmission at ~150,000 but they are relatively inexpensive to rebuild (~$1,400). Other parts that had to be replaced just before 200k were cam and crankshaft timing sensors and the usual suspension stuff you'd expect such as front strut mounts. Power steering pump started making noise but did a flush with Amsoil PS fluid and it quieted up. Make sure you change the timing belt at 100k intervals (I lucked out when it let go but with no damage by stretching it to 135K). Keep the oil changed per manufacture or, do like I did and use Amsoil and change every 10 to 15,000. BTW, the last 35 - 40K miles of its life it ran like a top with no issues and I was super mad when it was hit and had to say goodbye.
Charlene Perry probably put wrong oil viscosity in it or a block additive to fool you and hide a knock. It is odd because these motors take 5w 30 oil which is thinner because the guts of the motor are so compact they can’t function well and for long with thicker oil. I’d be cautious with that one. Sounds like a bad car owner never maintained it.
I just recently bought my first car, a 2002 Dodge Stratus SE for $1,000 off of craigslist. It was a private owner and they bought a new battery for me upon my purchase of the car. It was kept in great condition and hasn't given me any issues yet. The only problem with it is that 3 windows don't work but I live in Florida so chances are I will almost always use the cold A/C that came with it :P
+Houston's Very Own I just bought a 2006 with 90K miles for $2500, still new to me, but i'm pretty happy with it. Living in Las Vegas, the sun is incredibly strong so the paint has a decent amount of sun damage, but if you don't live in a very hot and sunny area, the paint should be fine.
@@GuestTH-camUser how long did it last you? I’m buying a 2004 dodge stratus tm with 108k miles on it. It drove decent and well kept. So I think I’m gonna go through with it for 2500
Live in the North East, don't know where Chrysler gets their steel, but the Dodge Stratus falls apart faster than any other vehicle because of road salt exposer. Another issue? Cheaply made plastic components.
whats the deal with my 2002 stratus SE 4dr. 2.7 used to start instantly when I barely turned the key. now I have to turn the key on and off a few times so that I don't have to keep cranking the engine over. I've been driving like this for almost 2 yrs now.
Don’t we all just love these stupid reply’s people leave like the one here..geez! Run some Lucas brand fuel treatment and injector cleaner in your fuel for a couple of tanks of gas. It will clean up your injectors and lines etc for more efficient fuel flow. You can get a big bottle of it at Walmart for $8.97. 3 oz per 10 gallons of gas. Run it stronger at first. I ran it all the time in my 05 stratus. It helps keep it from getting the carbon build up and burned out catalytic converters these cars a said to have issues with. You’ll get better gas mileage as well.
12 gallons fuel tank? I guess because that's how much it fill up at the gas pump you see 12 gallons on display. but how many you think are in reserve gas tank? 16 gallons tank, 12 gallons normal and 4 gallons as backup
These cars are crap, that's why I bought a 2013 ford fusion with the appearance package, now that I wanna use my stratus as my winter ride I have to rebuild the motor (car only has 101,000 miles) fix the sensor problem with the gas gauge and light staying on, the fan resistor motor so the fan will work on other speeds than high. That is not including the front suspension I already replaced and a whole bunch of other problems after I bought the car 2 years old in 2006. DO NOT BUY A DODGE STRATUS, THEY SUCK.
Have fun with the bmw gouging parts prices and repair prices . You want luxury you will pay luxury prices . The abs alone will cost you more than buying a stratus .
Literally one of the biggest Piece Of Shit ive ever had. I have a 2002 stratus with 122,302 miles on it. The engine is amazingly fine but the transmission is fucked on it. Chrysler makes good cars, but this car is a useless POS
vacuumlover00. I had a 2001 with the 2.7 had no problems until 70k, after that: Transmission failed (twice) bad motor mounts, power windows quit working, climate control switch went bad, oil sending unit failed, started knocking from cold start, and started huffing blue smoke when accelerating (piston rings, I guess). Pretty much the biggest turd I've ever owned!
Gingersnap27239. Maybe someone put the wrong fluid in. When was the last time the transmission fluid and filter was changed along with a complete fluid flush to clean out the torque converter. People don't know or care to learn about maintenance and regular fluid interval changes and then they complain that its the cars fault. I have a '96 2.0 5-spd 208,000 miles and it runs great because I maintain it regularly.
Lol American car. Not so much. My 03 stratus coupe I got for 700 bucks says built by Mitsubishi all over it. That's why they last Mitsubishi built just saying. Do love the car
Hell no I had a dodge stratus for 5 months an gave out before a 100000k the whole engine was a piece of shit it overheated an blew fuck that dodge I have a nice honda accord now an it's true about wht they say about them! Fuck a side switch to.honda lol
Lol did you ask the owner what was wrong with it? You obviously bought it with a cooling problem. Joke is on you bro. Drove mine 2.5 hours from its previous home and it was fine apart from what all I knew about when buying it.
I bought a status200 model used...my advice is to never buy another dodge.I am a construction worker,so I travel a lot ..so far I hae had the car about 5 yrs. and have put maybe 60 k mi.on it. I have replaced the tranny after about 40k, drove to fla. and the freeze plugs rusted out...so I replaced the freeze plugs, the radiator blew out...replaced the radiator, the transmission line blew out...I have already replaced Most of the front suspension...so I guess next, after a few more miles, the cv joints will mysteriously go out...right before the transmission cooler blows out or developes a huge leak...this is the reason I have only owned one dodge before. The first was just like the last, a money pit...I would advise anyone who is thinking of buying one to really think seriously about buying anything but a dodge. I have had the car for about 6 years,in which time I have drove it 60k...that is an average of 10k a year...over 4k in repairs so far..sound like a good deal?
Hate the suspension in my 06. However it rides like a Cadillac, and love how the stock system bumps hard too!!!
The sound system in my 04 ram 1500 was amazing too.
Before complaining that it aint as good as most European cars, reme.ber that this was a fraction of the price of most BMW or Audi when it was new
fkn idiot needs to get off the air fkn airheads got no business telling real mechanics what is what
I have a white 2004 Dodge Stratus and love it to death. I'm gonna drive it until it no longer can be driven. Awesome car.
I am buying a 2004 dodge stratus tm for 2500 with only 108k miles, it drove smooth, very fairly cleaned. I hoped it last me another 100k miles. 🙏🏾
Im about 100 miles from turning 225K and no signs of slowing down. I miss my 2001 RT Stratus tho...Ill get another. :D
Tim Marx hey Tim, I might look for a Stratus, myself
Do they have the 2.4 Mitsubishi engines?
Best car I have ever owned. 2006 with 103K and not 1 single issue of any kind.
maintainance?
lucky, I got a 2005 and its just a pain.
@@Rodoadrenalina whyyy
+Chris Brown check motor mounts
Chris Brown
1+is your car making a noise or does it vibrate every time you make a full stop?
2=for the oil. check the oil filter located underneath the engine, cuz I got the same problem. somehow the filter always leaks in my car!
I have a 1st year 2nd generation dodge stratus, yip shocks/stuts go ( I'm in wisconsin , they actually rusted out) ! broke and blew out a tire rubbing on body. the water pump's been changed, air cond. compressor went / new one installed for $500 , went through 3 starters, but with the short that would blow out the fuse all the time we've had more starters and batteries installed than need be.
We paid some mechanic $250. and he either found the short or the really costly battery he put in stopped the problem of fuse going and dead car problem. new fuel regulator and fuel rails/ all new fuel pump might be on are third charged $1000. or 900 for new steering pieces and alignment,
all totaled I thing we must of spent $6000. if you add up the $500. dollars charges and the 1,000 charges. I spent 450 on brake parts just for the back alone and I did it my self no labor. my engine is the 2.7 were on 205,000 american miles. The timing cover has to come back off as the guys that
did the water pump used rv silicon red and it;s failed in one spot on the bottom of cover . there are good things about the car. Starts when below zero, heat and air worked good until vent system
broke down and the blender door motor went through 2 we gave up as were not buying service and all new vent pipes . I tied a wire on the blender door it's normal heat during the winter. if Iget it in the right spot. Can't find a spot to get out much air but air works good if I could.
best feature , the battery is hidden in the fender
also you sound like jon lovits !
I love dodge trucks, I recently got a 2002 dodge stratus se and its awesome
Tammy Forbes is the 2.4 liter the same one that is used in the Mitsubishi Galant?
Tammy Forbes if it's the 2.4 Mitsubishi engine, then that's a good engine
Tammy Forbes im looking a 2005 dodge stratus and wondering how much it costs if you have to repair and buy parts. Are dodge parts more expensive than toyota?
@@bennygreene7429 yes dodge and mitsubishi partnered up. Known as the dms company. They shared engines and components of the their cars.
Just to give a point of reference i get 350 miles per tank
Heh. I just realized I commented on this video 4 years and 45k miles ago. 129k and still a rock solid car. The worst thing I've had to do to it? New AC high-side hose.
I have a dodge stratus 1998 2.4L
Yes do u ever have a problem with chirping when u turn your air on
my boyfriend has the exact car you own but the stereo does not work and the front and rear windows on the passenger side on the left does not work. and the factory radio doesn't work any longer. what could be the problem. could the fuzes have gone bad? what should he do. And also when he starts the car, the oil signal comes on is it a sign he could be low on oil? but anywho, lemme know okay? thanks.
You figure it out yet? Been a whole year
The window problem is more then likely a broken wire or 10 in the door hinge area.
Roll Tide!
Daniel Creed what how much ?? $12,500 . Please say you add an extra 0
Way to much, I paid 1,000 on mine 2002 with 72m,
I fixed the oil leak was leaking around the camshaft postion sensor. turns out the casket was completely gone on it.
(4 Shitz n giggles) a new Macbook pro costs more than the value O.O

Nathan Scott how did you get your upper control arm off to switch the ball joints did you have to compress the spring and take it apart because i cant find front springs that come with balljoints?
Bought a 2001 dodge stratus se with less than 100 thousand miles for $300 ☺☺

Very taken care of for a used car with over 100k surprisingly
I love my 02 stratus. first issue I've had and it's leaking coolant like puddles
I have the same car a black 2003 Dodge Stratus . man it sucks. tho.
I got a 06 dodge stratus sxt with 193,260 with no problem with it at all it runs just fine
PS. It now has 198,845. The only thing I did too it was change the plugs and oil. I'm getting 25mpg mostly city driving
And apparently one thing about these cars is that the battery is IN the front driver side wheel well... or at least the ‘02 my friend has
I love my dodge stratus had a ball joint replaced and a timing belt.
I paid 1500 for my 2006 runs good and worth the money
What other car used parts are compatible with dodge stratus 2003
Chrysler Sebring back window will fit I know for sure and the front fenders and hood
had a 2004 4 cyl stratus used, steering wheel vibrated like crazy whenever the car was stopped in gear, banging noise started coming from the back of the car on bumps, radiator blew, car misfired every once in a while, could hear exhaust coming out from the drivers side, had mad rust on the bottom of the car all around the outside, it was fucked with only 130k miles lmao
I just bought a 2002 dodge stratus and it has 79,000 miles on it and when I start it it takes a minute to start and when I put on the brake there is a knock sound I'm hearing??? And I'm missing a motor mount my brother told me
Mine heat only work high number 4 and dimmers lights including radio stay on even when I turn off key
I know heard the older ones do but with this year I think you will be fine.
Strange. I've had mostly Dodge's and Chrysler, and I've never had issues with the transmission...except in my 2001 PT Cruiser which was the last Chrysler I've driven.
I loved my candy apple red 2001 Dodge Stratus.
Struts! The strut mounts were not a good design.
have you had any issues with coolant leaks or heater problems?
yes . They are famous for it
water pump?
Water pump or you’re low on coolant
hey my dodge vibrates Really heavy now. putting it in neutral while stopped eases it. Also the light flicker like the car is going to cut off

!!Attention!!
Never pay more than $2k for 05' and below models, kbb.com the value w/mileage before offering.
Dadicus182
I have a 99 breeze and have never had an issue. I wonder if the people buying crap ones don't realize that theirs has probably has run its miles.
Do the back seats fold down?
I'm buying a 2005 dodge stratus!!! but the oil is really thick!!! is there a reason the oil thY thick!!
How many miles?
Currently looking at one 2005 Dodge Stratus SXT, 127K miles. They want $2500 cash for it. It's in great shape!
It has 157K miles on it which really isn't bad for an '02
+Houston's Very Own I just bought a 2006 with 90K miles for $2500, still new to me, but i'm pretty happy with it.
So I think I’m gonna go through with it for 2500

what about the 2006 SXT?
Live in the North East, don't know where Chrysler gets their steel, but the Dodge Stratus falls apart faster than any other vehicle because of road salt exposer. Another issue? Cheaply made plastic components.

You probably don’t care now that it’s been 4 years, but yes, there’s a dodge stratus RT with a manual transmission
Does any one know how to disconnect the horn on a dodge stratus 2005
RAMIRO CORTEZ unplug the clip connector on it located under the passenger side of the nose cone right where the inner fender well starts.
Or pull the relay fuse in the fuse panels
whats the deal with my 2002 stratus SE 4dr.

No problem lol

Hello I have the same car. my is burning too much gas
'Don't believe Original Beast's comment. He's a liar. And he doesn't have the means to afford a car.
My heat don't work...

My suspension if fucked lol?
THATS WHY I SOLD IT AND GOT A BMW
235,000 miles and still no problems.

Yes. Transmission. Great. I'll pass.

Chrysler makes good cars, but this car is a useless POS
i have 004 and it is great over 200000 miles
Daniel Campbell I fixed my 02 stratus. It has 134,602 miles on it now. Everything's ok
Daniel Campbell yup he does. My dad checked the fluids weekly
vacuumlover00.
I have a '96 2.0 5-spd 208,000 miles and it runs great because I maintain it regularly.
your car is at least a 2003, not a 2002...
Things you should know before buying a Dodge: don't buy a Dodge. Get something else.

MrADK25 yee sir
Do not buy this car I had mine for about 3 hours when I bought it and it over heated garbage ass car
Lol did you ask the owner what was wrong with it? You obviously bought it with a cooling problem. Joke is on you bro. Drove mine 2.5 hours from its previous home and it was fine apart from what all I knew about when buying it.
Original Beast same problem as you. it overheated I had the dealership fix it piece of shit dodge cars
I can say the same thing about the GM products I've owned. I guess your milage may vary?
