    Super helpful video! Especially how you covered posture and taking care of your joints and body! It’s really easy to overlook that when we get carried away painting

      @@CaleighBirdArt I'm 62 and trying to decide what to do with my time. I thought of starting painting. How did you start with education or did you just buy supplies and them start painting?

    Primed hardboard is also great to paint on especially for plein air.

    How do you dispose of your paint palettes/used rags? is it flammable because of the paint thinner/turpentine? I am so nervous getting started because im so worried about starting a fire!

    • @CaleighBirdArt
      @CaleighBirdArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually have a video all about that! I knw that can be one of the most nerve wracking things about getting started, and I'm always glad to hear when people want to err on the side of caution. No need worry though! Check it out : th-cam.com/video/7khJSeSZ_B0/w-d-xo.html

    Freezer paper is so much cheaper and larger than pallette paper

    If you paint really large and wet - painting standing at neck/shoulder neutral position and a vertical palette won't work. Not without standing on a ladder/stool or canvas on the floor and standing on something above it. Art is pain. LOL!

    • @CaleighBirdArt
      @CaleighBirdArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      True! When I paint with gouache (which can run) I do so on a flat table. I think the key is just to switch things up and make sure you're not holding any one position for too long:)

    What made you decide to become an artist? Did you go to education or just started on your own by studying art on your own?

    • @CaleighBirdArt
      @CaleighBirdArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've always studied and created art since I was a very young child. I've taken art classes my whole life and then got undergrad and graduate degrees in painting with an art history minor. I've studied in Europe twice and always spent lots of time self-teaching as well. Art has always been my passion and I was lucky enough to be encouraged as a young person by my parents too:)
