  • Emily Shea, Head of Application Integration Go-To-Market at AWS, shares firsthand experience and practical steps for getting started building serverless web applications. Emily wanted to build a solution to an everyday problem: regularly practicing a second language. This session shares the process of evolving that solution from an AWS Lambda function into a fully featured application that uses Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda, Amazon EventBridge, AWS Step Functions, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon QuickSight, the AWS Amplify Console, and more. Learn why serverless is a great tool set for experimenting with new ideas, and hear how the extensibility and modularity of serverless applications allow you to start small and quickly add features.

    WOW, it's just amazing.
As a frontend developer, that speech is absolutely clear to me, it shows why to use it.
That's the future of the web. Nice speech Emily 👏🏻

This is how I build the backend for my MVP’s. Almost always free or barely a few pennies. In production is when things really shine. Incredible.

Liked your serverless journey! Excited to try out. Need to study more on ddb schema, as I'm used to think in SQL tables.

When services have free tier, please also put estimate if there was no free tier.
It will be easy to scale estimates like 100 active users to 10$ so 10000 active users will might be 1000$.
With your free tier estimates it will be 82$.. which is very wrong
