I haven't seen a bearing separator used that way. Good thinking. They are normally used to get under a bearing with very little clearance on the back side, and then you would use a puller in the threaded holes on the face of the separator tool. PA sells the tools, I have the set of 3. The metal is pretty soft, but it works for the few times I've needed them.
Loving the progress. Very satisfying to see all the rusty parts now clean and black.

Ya, I was so worried about hammering on the pitman and damaging the gear box or seal. It was tight but got in there just perfect to pop it. The parts cleaning up is awesome, looks better than new.

Hi Paul. You car has the same suspension, brake and steering setup as my 1963 Dodge Custom 880. Try those seal numbers: for the front hub National 8121S, or SKF 17110. For the Diff try Ratech 6103. Great video. My heart always skips a beat😂, every time you upload a new Video. Hope those numbers help you. Greatings from Germany. Marty

Just watched your latest video again. Noticed you said, you torqued the u-bolts to 95 foot pound. Just looked it up in the workshop manual from 1963. There it says 50 foot pound. Don't want to be a smartass, but not that you crack your axle housing.

This is the recomend torgue for these U bolts. For the size, I could only find jeep U-bolts and thats their torque rating.
