Sorry for the late reply. Yes, they sold separately. I believe you can print without the battery by using just the AC adapter. A compatible AC adapter is a lot cheaper but you need to make sure that it works. The spec is 12V 5A with the 2.5mm connector. You can also use the 15V 4A, or 12V 4A, or even the 3A. They will take longer to charge but it will not affect the printing when you connect to it directly. Alternatively, you can buy the less expensive 12V car adapter if you are on the road a lot. I am no electrical engineer so do your research first.
