This is great! Not sure why anyone would give you grief. Perhaps they are not aware that 80% of donated clothing ends up either in the landfill or sold as scraps. Upcycling is a great practice for our planet!
It isn't "wasteful" if they are using it for another purpose, especially if someone really likes a print or fabric and just can't wear it anymore. Yes donating is possible and a good idea , but a lot of clothes aren't accepted at places, and it isn't always easy to find anyone who "wants" or "fits" those clothes. A lot of things taken to donation centers are also just thrown away or never used again. Also, for the people who say "send it here" "or take it there" who is paying for the shipping or transportation?
Irena, all the clothes shown here were intact, not torn or damaged. Orphanages in India would gladly take them. One phone call and most will pick it up from your home. You can't use more than a couple of recycled bags, beyond that it's superfluous. In my area, every Sunday a pickup vehicle comes from nearby orphanage collecting donations in kind or cash. All should donate used clothes generously rather than hoard items not worn for years or hoard it and allow it to deteriorate. Sometimes we keep giving it to the maid who already has enough. Its really sad.
@@Anione111 In my area, you are typically responsible for paying a fee for any pick ups. So it could make a difference where you live. And donation centers have so many things/clothing around here a lot just ends up in trash. aLso, half of the time places that resell used clothing will refuse specific items if there are similar items that have been sitting on the racks for a while. And there aren't any donation centers that we can go to for orphanages specifically, and if there are any, they are not clear about where clothing can be sent.. I know this, Because I donate clothing all the time. I have 2 children who constantly out grow their clothing. Will those orphanages in India do pick ups in America from my home? If so what is the number/website people can call to make this happen? If you have legitimate resources, then please share with everyone and help people out. But please don't make the assumption that because someone repurposes something, that they aren't trying "hard enough" to donate. What is simple for you may not be as simple for everyone. Also, you may not think repurposing clothing into a bag is useful, but would it be better if people just bought already made bags from new materials than using the materials they already have?
@@irena6317 Amazing response. I totally agree. I am from India and there is no pickup of items/cash/clothes to orphanages. I mostly donate the best items to street kids or maid..(but that is also tough as the items should be of use to the person recieving it.). repurposing is more environment friendly and sustainable.
I don’t know about your area, but in my city it's really hard to get people to donate clothes to. I should know, I have bags full of them I've outgrown of, and things that became too large for me. Clothes are cheaper now, and even low-income people can get what they need. They don't want secondhands, unless they’re winter clothes. So most of my old clothes go towards cleaning spills or things like that.
Nice thought, but my amma used to tell that, we shouldn't give the used clothes to anyone. , if you want to donate, give them new dresses.. and another thing is, we used to exchange our dresses with sisters and brothers or friends.. that also we shouldn't not do.
Thank you so much for the inspiration!! I’m really excited to finally get use out of clothing and patterns that I love, but unfortunately no longer use! Ignore the hate! Thank you for sharing your creative abilities!!!
I feel sad that this creative person is being criticized when you knew by the title of her TH-cam what she was going to do! And it seems a bit presumptuous that she is being judged when perhaps she is doing the best she can with the budget she has to use what she has! And perhaps you are being presumptuous judging her when you have no idea where these clothes have come from. And perhaps That tells me that most of you have not shopped at a Thrift Shop lately. And perhaps you are being presumptuous assuming that she hasn’t already given away clothes that she could find no purpose to recycle and reuse. Rather than watching a video that you obviously have no interest in, perhaps you should practice what you are preaching and clean out your own closet and give these clothes away!
I like how judgimental are those people who have 0 youtube videos or probably have never sewn anything in their lifes... Just way to go.. Hope youre proud of yourselfes 😁😁👍🙃
I agree. How dare people demand this person donate their own belongings. Very VERY rude. These are her things and she can do with them what she would like.
I used to donate my clothes until someone told me that my donation was actually being used for profits like reselling it in thrift shops. As I grew up, the moment my clothes were either too small or a year or so passes, I would donate it. If it was stained I made them small and dressed my dogs up. Of it was torn to no extent of fixing I would just cut them into pieces and decorate my walls with it. Now I have a partner with too much clothes, and we have no space. This video was awesome and now I can do something with this (literal) pile of unused clothes!!!!
