The t-shirt idea is especially appealing to me. Every couple of years my family gets together and we always have a shirt made for pictures and events. To make a sewing machine cover, i strongly suggest NOT using a heavy weight fabric like denim. Although it can look cool, the tops of machines have relatively delicate metal parts that can easily snag on, or be bent by, heavier fabrics such as denim. The best thing I have found to use: thrift a pretty head scarf and use that to make your cover. It will keep off the dust and not damage your machine when taking on and off.
Y'all know you don't have to cut those little squares to box your corners, right? Just pop it out, sew the same seam as with the little square, and trim away the excess. Way faster, way easier.

Personally, I would sew instead of using a glue gun. Just my preferance.

Yes. But you have to use good quality glue sticks!
