By the 200th retelling "So there they were in a torrential flood with the heavens showering thunder and lightning upon our very souls, the careless masses driving past from safety and comfort while the passengers in this car shuddered together for warmth. I deciding enough was enough hurled my fist towards the heavens and decried 'NOT TODAY GOD' I pulled up behind them and it was only my quick thinking and wit that allowed me to latch my winch onto them in time. With what was surely a 1 in a million cast from the edge of the chasm they found themselves in. Grabbing the steering wheel and reefing the beast into Reverse I and God battled in a tug of war the likes of which would fill history books with passages of song and praise. God there with his arms open to accept their souls and me pulling them back to a second chance of this sweet life. The beast trembled but never did I worry she couldn't pull them out because I could feel my very soul embodying the car itself and it was like I was willing the trapped car back to the banks of safety. After a lengthy hour long battle they found themselves without harm and safe upon the soil they had slipped earlier and asking me if I would take their daughters hand in marriage as a reward, I turned them down with but a tip of my Akubra and wink of my eye and left them like the dusting of frost leaves the grass when the rising sun crests the horizon"

Watched an ambulance approach a busy intersection, all 3 lanes blocked with traffic. Wide unkerbed median so Ambo driver decided to drive off the asphalt to go around traffic. Except all the water drains in to median so water logged grass and muddy. Heavy AF Ambulance gets bogged with lights and sirens on. Hero in a 4wd pulls up, winch cable connected and pulled the Ambulance out in record quick time. Legend.

Had to rescue a young lady who had ‘parked’ her Honda Jazz perpendicular to the road, on a 30’ bank, having ‘crossed’ a two metre wide 3/4 metre deep ditch. She had ripped the entire plastic underbody including the front inner arches off, and both front tires off the rims. Managed to winch her back on the road with no further damage. Unfortunately my air-compressor fuse had blown the week before (i now keep a spare) but the RACT managed to re-inflate them when they arrived, and she was on her way. Turned out she was my neighbours’ babysitter.

The little things you think you are doing may mean something huge to others. About a month ago i was waiting in the waiting bay at hungry jacks and noticed a couple arguing in the car park. Old mate exited the passenger side and wife (i found out later) drove off. He sat down on the kerb and looked dejected. I drove up to him and asked if he was ok. I convinced him to let me drive him anywhere he wanted to go so i drove him home. While driving home i had a little chat and told him to hold it together as there is always someone doing it tougher than us. I consider myself good with words and tried my best. Dropped him off just as his wife got home. He went straight up to her and gave her a big hug. Took maybe 15 mins of my time and maybe saved a marriage, who knows. Compassion is the answer for most things. ✌️

My wife fell to the road, and a couple of kind folks got out of their cars and helped her up.
