Hey Geoff. Love your content. You definitely deserve more subscribers. I appreciate no nonsense, concise, to the point whisky reviews and of course, the comedy. Keep up the good work.
You Picaroon 🫵...😂 I like how you just sneaked your start trek reference - Ducat there....that was well done 😂🎉 Really great list and many things I didn't expect! I love the number one pick though that Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 from That Boutique-y Whisky Company is amazing value for the price! Looking forward to see the final pick a.k.a. your whisky of the year 😁 I can tell you had a lot of fun with this one! Cheers Buddy 🥃🥃🎩
Hey Geoff, another good list. Definitely some whiskies to consider there. Another one which I’d suggest is “Smoky Scot”, which is a release of 5yr old Caol Ila. It retails for about $75 Aussie and is a cracking dram with some sea salt spray, pleasing peat smoke with some floral layers, toasted seeds and malt. Non-chill filtered, natural colour and 46% ABV.
Absolutely agree with Tomintoul 14 and TBWC. Bought recently a bottle of their speyside 6 yo batch 2 (glendronach from refill ex-sherry butts) at 25usd and it’s an absolute banger too.
You.. picaroon. The ending there landed with great comedic editing and delivery. Like, lol. The new Scapa 10, Thompsons' SRV5, and Powers John's Lane 12 come to mind as not-expensive and (a bit) less lauded ones I really appreciated this year.
Some great suggestions to go and explore the Geoff.... A couple that I have tried this year that made me go 'ooh, niiice' - my first time (😱) with an Edradour - 10 year old - and Old Pulteney Huddart gave me a lovely moment👍
Great list Geoff! I'm so glad you picked TBWC as your mystery number 1 ;) I know you like your 18 year olds, so you definitely need to try TBWC's 18yo Highland Peated. That would be my whisky of the year, and a runner up would be Benromach 15yo, which I also love. And I need to try this 12yo TBWC. What would I do without you giving me these excellent recommendations :)
Good list dude and fits the premise so well. I'll probably skip the Speyside 12 as it's oloroso matured but I can see for the fans it would be a tasty one. Looking forward to seeing your WOTY 2024!
Nice list some suprises in there. BFYB is definitely the Arran. I prefere it over the 10 which has gone up in price quite a bit. It can be found often on offer for less then €25,=. It is indeed more like the 10 years from before the rebranding. If you want a more powerful one than get the Arran quater cask which is more or less a barrel reserve on steroids. Also excelent, spirit driven and in the dutch market still cheaper then the 10 year old.
Haha I called it! I knew you’d throw the barrel reserve in there. After recently getting the 10 and being very surprised, I will definitely pick this one up next year because… I trust you Geoff…, don’t disappoint me! 😂😂😂 I’ll keep an eye out for the tomintoul too, never tried their juice!
I fell absolutely in love with Ardmore 12 Port Wood. For a 12yo remarkable depth, peaty but not overwhelming, fruity but not too sweet, punchy and a really strong finish. And then I got it on sale for 35€ ... Definitely my find of the year
Nice choices. Clynelish 14 at $39 and the Miyagikyo NA at $49 are two other wallet-friendly, Taiwan options. BTW, the Maoweiki two-year-old ex-rye cask is another young Taiwanese banger worth trying.
We can get the TBWC Speyside 12 here in NZ, so that is good distribution. Out of your 5 I've only had the Kingsbarns DTD. My runners up would include Glenglassaugh Sandend, Meikle Toir Original, Ardnamurchan Sherry, Arran Quarter Cask, and Kilchoman Cognac. Cheers!
The Glasgow 1770 releases showcase excellent craftsmanship, bold flavors, and a modern approach to whisky-making, with attention to detail and diverse cask maturation. While they don’t yet have what it takes to be my Whisky of the Year, they are undoubtedly on the right path and show great potential for the future.
I cant help only buying more expensive and exclusive whiskies nowadays... I dont drink much and have run out of space to store my scotch collection so I cant be buying all these value Malts. Thankfully I can reccommend them to friends who drink more so they buy them and I can try them there 😂. My whisky of the year is the Port Charlotte Shiraz Cask. Absolute beauty.
Ha! I thought the hint meant that the number 1 runner up would be Dalmore! I never tried the Dream to Dram, and I now can’t find it. I’ll have to try the Gul Dukat whisky. Will it make me want to oppress Bajorans?
I’ve always thought the Arran Barrel Reserve is the best all-around non age stated scotch (based on flavor, price, availability and natural color). I’m not particularly impressed with the Arran 10, but I do love the Arran 18 year.
Great video, sir! A few runners up for me would be some Australian whiskies, and unfortunately not available in your market 😢 Besides that, I'm really enjoying the Signatory Vintage Edradour (Un-chill filtered) 10yo, however as it's technically summer, I'm leaning more towards Glencadam.
I appreciate the variety in your selection, Geoff, and am looking forward to trying the TBWC 12 Speyside--though 57US in my market due to greedy importer. Someone suggested might be Glenfarclas? /shrug/ No rush, but have you had a chance to try any of the others from the stags' antlers range? The 18yo peated Highland has me curious, but it's 99US so have left it on the shelf.
I’ve learned a lot this year and my runners up would be Kilchoman Machir Bay and Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve. I was very surprised with the price and the amount of flavors of this Glenlivet.
Nice list. I enjoy Arran barrel reserve, it's tasty whiskey for a good price. Kingsbarns is a nice whiskey, but it costs 50€ and I am not sure if it's worth that price tag. Thanks for the video 😊
Another great list @gwhisky! I haven't tried the Tomintoul nor (strangely) the Arran Barrel reserve, but the rest are great. I'm not sure why, but I'm not a huge fan of the Tamdhu 12 despite being a big Tamdhu fan - perhaps the sample I had at the whisky show was off. Agreed the Dream to Dram is amazing, and the Boutique-y Whisky Company one was great too (although admittedly I was pretty drunk when I tried it). If it were my list, the Dream to Dram would probably be on top, but they're both great. At under $50, I'd probably have to go with the Glenglassaugh Sandend as my pick. As it hasn't yet shown up on the best of list, perhaps it will be featured in a future video! ;)
I admit Tamdhu 12 isn't a spectacular dram, but when the mood is right I absolutely love it. I've had some lesser batches, though. Not sure if that's why you didn't take to it? Cheers buddy? Btw I'll be showcasing some shiny new glasses for my WOTY video. 😉
Geoff, have enjoyed your content. Curious as to why there hasn’t been any reviews on Kavalan or Omar whiskies ? Cheers, all the best in the coming new year and merry Xmas
With your clue, the hint of a pic of a stag, viewers may have guessed Dalmore, Glenfiddich, maybe Loch Lomand. But show me a pic of a stag, Geoff, I'm gonna think Stagg. That would be a surprise. No one would see that coming. Yet conversely, I wouldn't be surprised if Stagg did win this flight fight
5 Runners up for me inc: Kilchoman Machir Bay, Loch Lomond 12, Ledaig 10, Glenallachie 8 Classic Laddie . . P.s. Tried Port Charlotte 10 Recently and don't understand it at all. Tastes and smells like rubbery new bike tyres being burned and sherbert. Tastes like a new make spirit. Not complex and the main flavours were not appetising. Imo Ledaig 10 is far far superior
Bruh? No. Just no. If I may offer a selection for your consideration ( all prices US ): Ardbeg Uigeadail $100 Aberlour Casg Annamh $65 Laphroaig Cairdeas (2024) $100 Port Charlotte 10 Heavily Peated $70 Bunnahabhain 12 Cask Strength $100 Thanks for reading. Cheers.

Very kind words. Thanks for watching! 🙏🥃
Oh, there definitely are moments of nonsense with Ge-off; he does always aim for the mark!
Great picks! I have to say that I prefer a lot of younger versions of quite a few whiskies to the more recent versions, too.
You Picaroon 🫵...😂

Hah cheers buddy. Yeah this was definitely a fun one to put together. So glad you're enjoying the TBWC 12. Such a banger for the price! Cheers! 🥃🥃🥃
Will be hunting for deer this week then!

Sounds like a great pour! 🥃

Love the DS9 reference!!! Gul Dukat was such a great villain.
My whisky of the year 2024 is Glen Scotia 15. So delicious!
Totally - on the perma-shelf here!
Off the top of my head, standouts this year were Raasay, the hearach, annandale man o swords sherry and glen scotia icons bordeaux
And adrnahoe, duh.
Some great suggestions to go and explore the Geoff.... A couple that I have tried this year that made me go 'ooh, niiice' - my first time (😱) with an Edradour - 10 year old - and Old Pulteney Huddart gave me a lovely moment👍

The only one of these I might somewhat easily find is the Tomintoul 14, the others I've never seen.
Cheers!

I've had a few of their expressions and they're excellent! 🥃

Thankfully I can reccommend them to friends who drink more so they buy them and I can try them there 😂. My whisky of the year is the Port Charlotte Shiraz Cask. Absolute beauty.
Thanks for pionting out the Port Charlotte Shiraz Cask. I'm not sure if I'd stumbled on it on my own ... ☝️🙋♂️
I do the same, i pour 15ml and take tiny sips and sniff it a lot, much better than budget stuff.
My whisky of the year was
Ben Nevis 10 Adelphi. Complete Sherry Bomb.
Runner up was Lagavulin 2024 SR.
Ardnamurchan sherry cask. Def most bang for the buck, at least in Sweden.
Talisker parley would be in my list of also ran.
Ha! I thought the hint meant that the number 1 runner up would be Dalmore!
I never tried the Dream to Dram, and I now can’t find it. I’ll have to try the Gul Dukat whisky. Will it make me want to oppress Bajorans?

Wasn't impressed with Arran 10 either. Have you tried The Arran Quarter Cask (bothy)? Imo it is worth every penny. Stunning
Great video, sir!

My five runners up below 100 CHF are five bottles of Ledaig 10.
Among the lesser-celebrated whiskies I really like Redbreast 12 CS and Inchmurrin 12.
I can only get Tamdhu 12 and Arrran Barrel Reserve here in Texas, USA. I prefer Balvenie 12 and Speyburn 10, respectively.
@@Gwhisky Awwww yeeaaaahh! 😁
Thanks for sharing Geoff
...🤔... yep, think that's about it.
Slàinte mhath
Lol thanks for watching buddy. Nuf said. 😂
@Gwhisky 🤣

My apologies, I stand corrected, you did some reviews 2 years ago. Cheers

Thompson bro's 8 Tesco Value bottle, and Springbank Sherry 5 society bottle
The only Tomintouls worth trying are labelled Old Ballantraun
And he is also a fellow nerd :D Seen DS9 atleast 4 times 😆
those are way under 50 ;;; amazing ;;
3:52 … well the Barrel Reserve is better than 10yo.
Real distillate character, not just cask.
I take it the #1 is from glenfiddich without them saying it is kinda like wormtub 10 yo is craigellagie
The Ducat replaces the Dream to Dram, and is there one single statue of it on Bajor?
(This joke is just for you and me. Walk with the Prophets)
Nerd Alert (although, knowing the reference also indicts me I guess)
Kardashian humour? 😉
Port Charlotte 10 is soooo good
Agree, it's fantastic. 🥃
And my favorite bottle design.
@Brad-ic4bp the bottle does look great yes. Very simple and modern
Peat heads beware: this Geoff list is a smoke-free environment.
Cant wait for the best "label printed in purple" whisky of the year! 😂
Which purple? I'll be doing lists for mauve, violet, lavender, and fucshia. 😉

5 Runners up for me inc:
Kilchoman Machir Bay,
Loch Lomond 12,
Ledaig 10,
Glenallachie 8
Classic Laddie
.
.
P.s. Tried Port Charlotte 10 Recently and don't understand it at all. Tastes and smells like rubbery new bike tyres being burned and sherbert. Tastes like a new make spirit. Not complex and the main flavours were not appetising. Imo Ledaig 10 is far far superior
Bruh? No. Just no.
If I may offer a selection for your consideration ( all prices US ):
Ardbeg Uigeadail $100
Aberlour Casg Annamh $65
Laphroaig Cairdeas (2024) $100
