Justine looks great without makeup. And she is so articulate in explaining these old concoctions.
A kind word can really transform someone's day. Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment ❤
@@EarlyAmericanTruly, Justine, OP is right!
"and if this is what happens to me - I would consider myself allergic to Mr. Darcy" LOLLLLLL LOVE THAT
😆🤣😂
Ok I love this video for many reasons. I love how frank you are about not sugar coating. I love that you’re supporting a niche small business. I REALLY love that you’re talking to us! Your cooking videos are always with captions which I do love, but hearing you verbally explain is nice as well! I’d love a cooking video where you elaborate and talk to us like this!
Your fresh face is also beautiful, don’t be so hard on yourself you look lovely!
-congratulations on your marriage!
I love learning about people's everyday lives throughout history. Thank you for this information!
I would love an uncut behind the scenes video of you planning, buying the ingredients, and full recordings of you making the dish. In fact if you had a separate channel called, Early American Uncut, I would watch every second of every video. Anyone else?
This is FANTASTIC!! What a wonderful video. How fun! ❤
Ron is such a good sport!!!
Justine you are gorgeous with or without makeup, thank you for this cosmetics review, Guerlain has been around for a long time!
Oh, Alicia's products are great! She is also a great resource about general health and beauty practices over the years; I consulted her when I had to do an 18th-century style hairstyle for a job. I use her liquid rouge when I'm in costume. The key to it looking natural is to only put a drop on each cheek, and really rub it in; you put a lot of it on your hand!
Allergic to Mr. Darcy...I'm laughing so hard at that 😂. Great, informative video
I love that you are branching out to try old makeup recipes and techniques on this channel!! Another idea -- I would love to see some old fashioned cleaning videos. What did people use to clean the house back in the day? What products and methods did they rely on?
I am definitely seeing a rush on products over at Little Bits stores on the products you're reviewing.
Ron is a good sport! And he was comical! Appreciate the history lesson Justine! David and Rebecca Back.
Justine! This is amazing! This kind of reminds me a little bit of your early videos! And I love it. You are a natural teacher, and this has been such a blast to watch and really interesting …and thank you for being so thorough as well!
You guys are so beautiful. Also your house and everything you've designed to bring the old time vibes. So, beautiful.
Thank you Justine for the history behind these historical make-up products.
This is such an awesome video! I collect old makeup, beauty products, and tools and I’ve found items from the mid 1800s-1940. I don’t have a huge collection, but enough to display and talk about. This was incredibly educational and spot-on as far as details and recipes.
I loved this video. The make up history was so fascinating! At the end, when you were all done, Justine, you looked amazingly gorgeous 😍😍
You look just as beautiful without makeup too🤩
❤❤❤
I started watching LBCC Historical almost 10 years ago. While I have not purchased her products before, it was she who inspired me to make the switch from modern cosmetics to more natural options. However, I have been still purchasing modern eyeliner & mascara. With that being said, I may switch to a more historical version. The coal mascara was definitely noticeable in the video, however, did not appear to be too heavy. It was pleasing to the eye. No pun intended. Ron is such a good sport! 😊 Thanks for the honest review.
I love vids on historical cosmetics and skincare. TYSM
That is so cool! I loved that time period for makeup. Personally I rather see that natural-look make a comeback. Plus it's so much easier lol.
You don't need any. Your skin is great!. Your commentary on the blushes was a masterpiece! I love it!❤😂
I have used a toner for the past 6 years that is pure organic rose water made in small batches in Colorado. The company is called Leven Rose. It has a faint rose smell that doesn’t linger. It really cleans your face well with no chemicals unlike other astringents. Isn’t drying either and my teen grand daughters all love it now after trying it during sleepovers at my house. This was an interesting video, especially the clove eyebrow pencil! lol. Ron was a good sport. ❤
Aww 🥰.. Justine was a really great video.. very educational on simple items. I liked the eyebrow technique. And wonderful 😊 Ron went along. Thanks for sharin..
In the old days eyeliner was also called mascara. So that point stick is for applying it as eyeliner. I have this exact thing which I apply as eyeliner at night before bed, its actually very healthy for eye lashes & eyes. The burnt clove can also be used as eyeliner/mascara.
Kohl is applied on the rims of the eye. You dip the applicator wand into the coal, hold it parallel to the ground, place it on the lower inner rim of the eye. Close eye and pull the applicator through the upper and lower rim (like tight lining). It’s actually very easy to do.
You have the same coloring as I do. I really liked the creme blush and lip balm. But what surprised me as the clove, wow it looked great on your brows.
Thanks for bringing us all the 1800 make up Justine happy new year 🥳
I love that you guys are so sweet to each other. You are going to have a great future together.
The cloves worked great and your brows were perfect. Really enjoyed this. Good job.
I loved this video!! You do such a great job, a real natural you are! Thank you🙂
Playing with fire goes with EVERYTHING!
The homes were so beautiful back then! 🌞
Ok I’m buying some whole cloves! Justine you are so pretty
This was a fun beauty history video!!! I would like to see more hair and makeup concoctions 😊😊😊
I for one am glad that young folks are interested in history, whether it be American history, bible history or world history. Thanks Justine. From an old history lover.
Fascinating! Thanks Justine
Honestly Justine, you have natural beauty! Such a remarkable and Interesting video in regards to makeup from that time. Ron lol on the eyebrow action. Y’all are amazing
I have a book of different makeup and cosmetics going back 250 years.
As much as I love your cooking videos, I am soooo enjoying this one because I've always wondered if women used cosmetics during that period. I always thought that women who used cosmetics during that time were thought to be "no better than they ought to be".
This was such a fascinating and enjoyable video! Love this stuff!
Hi Justine and Ron, I really enjoyed your video. I bought several items from Little Bits😊. Thank you so much ❤
Did i try the clove eyebrows method? Yes I did, and i love the look! Thanks for bringing back a historical cosmetic trick.
I love all of your videos! I've learned so much from both you and Ron about history and historical cooking. Love you guys!
I would put some kind of oil or grease on the bone applicator before the powder. So that the powder not only stuck to the applicator but also to my lashes. When I say I would apply oil to bone applicator- I mean sparingly to it.
We were not allowed to wear makeup for our reenactments, so this will be interesting. Thanks! Also putting popcorn in the microwave in prep for other channel.
Justine, you are so naturally beautiful!
You are kind! Thank you.
I like that idea with the cloves for the eyebrows it's night it's natural too so you don't put any chemicals on your face
Have always loved the style of that dress!
This was so interesting & informative! Great job, as always. It was also great that Ron let Justine color in his eyebrows. 😂 You both looked amazing! ❤❤
I love rosewater and rose milk. Wonderful products. I lived with my grandmother growing up and im now in my 50's, so it was some time ago but she always had rosemilk. I loved how it made my skin feel and the rose scent smelled like real roses , it didnt smell like a strong artificial rose perfume. I still love it and then as an adult i found rose water spritz for my face and neck. When I spray rosewater on my face it feels so moisturized and plump. It feels amazing. My brand is different but the ingredients are similar. Very pure products with only a few ingredients.
Ps. Your right it was out of style by the 19th century to wear such heavy whitening make up , and powder , blush and lip colour,, like they did in the 1700's. In the 1800's women went for the more natural look, UNLESS, she was a "lady of the evening ." Or women who lived in brothels would tend to wear a lip colour, or blush, also a French Courtesan, was a mistress, who would only go out will wealthy gentlemen, or men of nobility or high status, like artists .
Best makeup tutorial I have ever seen ❤❤❤
Ok, that eyebrow trick is amazing! And I love the rouges, it was so beautiful on you, better than some we have today.
My favorite was the clove! Could totally use that as eyeliner I bet in a pinch!
My grandmother used the powder mascara everyday, she swore by it, she also washed her face with rosewater and glycerin. I also remember her making her own cosmetics.
I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you Justine for sharing.
I love vintage content like this it makes the old lady in me feel happy.
I remember my mother, back in the 1950's, used a cake mascara by Maybelline. It came in a small red case with an applicator brush. The cake was wet with the brush and then applied to the lashes.
I'm going to double post. Sorry. But, I think the reason you like many of the products is that they fit your style. Very subtle. Just highlights the area. The blushes - even the darker ones - are really transparent and you could easily hide them f they go on excessive. The mascara is also very subtle. But, you put that on like a pro. I would use less water and less powder to make just a small amount so it lasts longer. The lipnrouge is perfect for your skin and not bright, shiny or sparkly. Very much historical looking.
You did such an excellent job and educated us so much in the art of Early American cosmetics.
Justine you look very young and you have lovely skin. You do not need makeup.
youtube os over killing with commercials tonight...Justine your a natural beauty dont even need makeup...great video.
I have been using neutrogena rice powder for over a decade! It has been wonderful for oil control and pore blurring.
LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!!
Love this!
Wow I am so impressed about the clove trick, I am absolutely going to try that out today! As a previous pro. makeup artist this was so interesting to watch!
you are a natural born Teacher!!📚🧮🛎️
You mentioned dry skin, and the rose is good for that too. Very calming and soothing.
I love historical things. This is something I had to check out before your video ended and I wound up buying stuff. Wow.
It all looks so fun to try and experiment with
I love this video! Great job. And the part talking about how you thought everything might smell made me laugh! 😂
I love Little Bits Etsy store!!!!!!!!!
I've been wearing this brand for a while and especially love the lip and cheek tints. A little goes along way and you can layer for deeper color. I usually put them on after I moisturize and before a face powder.
I love the packaging of the cosmetics. Everything back in the day was so beautiful. I have charcoal to whiten my teeth. I should try it on my eyelashes. It looks exactly the same.
Oh my goodness this was so fun! Thank You Justine❤️🌹
The clove trick is a huge keeper! I can't tell you how long I've looked for healthier makeup. I do avoid titanium dioxide so I'll have to look through the etsy shop and see what I might want to try but this is a win! Thank you!
Oh, I love this historical reenactment channel make up is something I’ve always wanted to know about. Thank you so much
I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for all your research.
This was an enjoyable video! I always wondered about the cosmetics of our ancestors and you answered my questions. Thank you
I cannot believe how well the cloves work! I honestly may give it a try myself! ❤
What a beautiful home. 💕 I’m in love!!🥰
This video is so fun! I already really enjoy makeup review videos, so this historical version was such a treat - very interesting and entertaining. You did a great job demonstrating and explaining everything!
It was a bone applicator! Mystery item from my grandmother’s celluloid toilet tray. She was born in 1911. Thank you!
Yea! That is so neat that she owned one.
Ok, the clove eyebrow shadow was definitely cool!
An extra bonus is that clove extract helps your hair to grow so it's good for your brows
I love BBC! I use their 1930s makeup and it's amazing
Greetings from Montana, Justine! 😊👋❤ This was a fantastic video!! Lots of fun learning about how women would doll themselves up…with such simple ingredients! I would be much more inclined to use these products just for that very reason! Have a blessed and beautiful week! 😊🇺🇸😊🇺🇸😊🇺🇸
Love this video! But I cannot stop looking at that wallpaper - it’s gorgeous ❤
Brazilwood is a common wood for violin bow making. The core of the Brazilwood is most desirable, which is called Pernambuco. I had zero clue it was used in makeup!
Thank you for showing these! I've been wanting to switch to more natural makeups, I don't use much anyways besides eyeliner and some mascara every now and then, the clove trick was so neat! Never would have thought of that... I dont think I'd mind the rose smell too much I used to purchase a rose water face toner off of etsy awhile back until i started making my own, I love the smell and feel of it!
You’re so pretty as is and natural! Great information, thanks for the history lesson!
Justine, this is a wonderful video! You are so well spoken and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for sharing 💜
I've been using products from Little Bits for ages! I thought I'd spotted a few items in your earlier videos. I love everything that I've tried and they're great, especially for a natural look. I also love knowing the products are safe and natural, plus supporting a small business. Thanks for highlighting this!
This was wonderful, would love more like this!!
How absolutely fascinating. I would love for you to do another video in this style for other things if possible. Thank you Justine!!
You guys do such a wonderful job! You have fun while informing us too!
Thank you for the video. Justine your sense of humor is amazing 🌞🥸
You look wonderful with or without makeup! I luv your cooking, but this was great to see because I love makeup and skincare! I am a formulator and make my own skincare so I thought I would weigh in. It is neat to see what they use to do, but hard to believe the poison they would use not knowing. The rouge has carmine which was used a lot because it was only way to get a true red then. I have used it too. A little goes a long ways, but it is ground up bugs… Also, the owner of the store really knows what she is doing, so she used the correct amount of essential oil I am sure, but just because it is natural is not safe always. I really watch the use of essential oils especially for the face that is sensitive. Was really neat to see. Thanks!
This is SO interesting! I love the idea of cosmetics with few and natural ingredients. Your video niche is fabulous- love the history and your presentation- such a great idea!! I thoroughly enjoy your videos and wish you all the best! :)
Wonderful episode! Thank you!
I am so glad I found your channel, you guys do such an awesome job! Thank you ❤
Justine you are beautiful with out makeup
