    Warning: do not do this on 2003 Tahoe. When removing the control switches, there are going to be 2 small screws holding in the backside. I immediately broke the casing for the upper screw when trying to pry out with my hands and now my control panel is a bit loose... forever. You have to take the door panel off first, then unscrew from the back in order to get the switch panel removed. Or like I did, you can just remove the door panel and connections to the control panel and leave the switches still attached to the door without removing.

    Well I just broke off my switch bezel. Y'alls videos are normally reliable. Please fix this title as everyone has requested. NOT SAME FOR 04 TAHOE

      Interesting! I have a 2004 Suburban. I wonder if I am going to run into the same issue? I also have a drivers-side switch bezel that is broken and needs to be replaced. Thanks for sharing.

    After taking the bolts and every thing else, it didn't just lift off. If you have a 2003 suburban, you need to remove the lock switch cover and there is a bolt under there

    You definitely need to change the title of this video! I have an 06 Suburban and it was very different from what you showed:
    The bolts are 7mm
    The lock has to popped out because there is a bolt behind it.
    I pried my switch panel off which I didnt need to do, and now its broken.

      Yes!
      Should have read your reply before I began to pry...
      My '06 plastic is brittle enough by now that anything "un-pryable" definitely gives way with minimal effort...
      Echo the 7mm bolts...

    You should not group 99-06 together. My 2004 Suburban switch bezel does not have to come off. It is held on by a screw you access from the back side of the door panel after removal. If someone tries to pry the switch up on the front edge they will damage either the door panel or switch Bezel.

      That seems to be the problem with my 2004 Suburban too. I am having a hard time finding the door panel replacement. Thanks.

      Yes, the 2000 -2002 seems like this. It seems Chevy changed some things in 2003 onward. Please update the information.

      +John Campbell Thank you for watching. The other three door panels will be removed in similar ways. The position of mounting bolts may be slightly spaced differently, but the procedure is the same. 1aauto.com

    Another tip, replace the 10mm screws with slightly larger Phillips head sheet metal screws up top and a #12 x 3/4 in wood screw on the bottom. It was necessary to drill out the upper hole in the driver's side with 5/32.

  • @rossb5125
    @rossb5125 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Driver's side is NOT the same as this video claims. Have to remove the inside panel first before removing the instrument cluster to access the screw at the front of the instrument cluster that fastens the cluster to the arm rest. Like Adam RS, I broke the screw boss. Had to use JB Weld for Plastics and let it cure overnight.

  • @manuelvillalpando6665

    Thank you for the tear down video. I have a 2004 Chevy Suburban, and I am looking to replace the door panel from the driver-side door. I had no clue as to how to remove the panel, but now, I feel confident in removing the door panel and fixing the broken switch bezel that is on the drivers-side door. Some person said that my problem is not with the bezel, and that the broken piece was actually a piece from the door panel itself. So once I remove the door panel, I'll have to see what the broken piece is, and replace it.
    On a another note, does anyone know where I can buy a 2004 Chevy Suburban replacement door panel online? I am trying to avoid going to the dealer, as we all know that they charge an arm and a leg to replace anything, plus their parts are not superior to some aftermarket products either. At least I have found that to be the case in some products.
    Again, thank you so much for the video.
    UPDATE: After reading some other folk's comments here, I think that there are a few different steps than what the video shows for a 2004 Chevy Suburban. In the case of the 2004 Chevy Suburban it is necessary to remove the door lock button in order to get to an additional screw on the backside. Is this correct? Also, on a 2004 Chevy Suburban one does not remove the switch bezels from either doors in the same manner as the older models. Is this correct?

    How long is the 8mm bolt?

  • @StevenVickieExploreColorado
    @StevenVickieExploreColorado 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    NOT CORRECT FOR 2004 SUBURBAN DRIVER DOOR!!!! On the 04 you have to pop off the manual lock slider switch and take out the 8mm screw or you will break your door panel!
    Also, DO NOT remove the driver switch assembly. Unplug it all after you slide the panel up and off. You will break off the screw on this panel too removing the switch assembly.
    I now get to buy a new door panel along with the outside handle and lock cylinder I had to replace when someone tried to steal my Suburban.

    Doesn't work on the 2005 suburban. Don't remove the electrical panel because there is a screw in it from inside. Pry the lock switch cover out and theres a screw behing that. Then it will slide up.

      Depends on the date of manufacture - my 2003 manufactured 11/02 in Arlington, TX has a different retainer on the door, as well as the power window control has a screw in the front, instead of a detent spring.
