That beginning of writhing into life and waking is excellently expressed in his body and expression. Before this, I never watched figure skating except for the Olympics, but Ilia Malinin inspires one to want to know and see more. When he fell, I first thought he hit his head, but he got up and moved just as gracefully as before but with a new determination. He mesmerizes the observer with his movements to the music. I already wrote down the dates for the world championship. Since I live in Germany, I will only be able to see it on ARD Sportschau, but they follow these events very well. I saw the last World Championship on TV and was awed by this young man's pure skills, but since then he has definitely perfected his skill artistically. He is a joy to watch. Thank you.

Amazing skating. He makes the incomprehensible look effortless. I feel lucky just to witness his skating. He does things that I never thought I'd see. And he makes them look so easy.
I'm praying for the figure skating community.
God Bless Maxim Naumov and all those who lost loved ones. God Bless those who lost their lives. May they rest in God's peace.
And God Bless the skaters as they try to come to terms with losing friends and mentors. It can't be easy for Ilia and all of the skaters to keep their focus on Worlds, while they're grieving.

💎⛸🥇 Brilliant. Just number one again and again. Hypnotic. I will not comment again, having done so on another channel where viewing of his fabulous and incredible program was prohibited. Captivating, mind-blowing, intoxicating and so much more : ) ILIA MALININ has everything in him and everything for him. 3 years since I discovered him already and from the beginning he totally captivated me, harpooned me. His evolution is so fast as well as all his performances. Each time, a new theme and songs and music in symbiosis, he allowed me to discover so many musical artists and even a Swiss. He lives what he expresses, he dares and innovates with ineffable talent, an immense authentic artist who often also improvised on and above the ice. Long live the reigning world champion : ) He deserves this place of winner so much ! Congratulations for your new gold medal from Switzerland

Ilia is a risk taker, daring and one of a kind. Never before in history has a skater willing to perform that many quadruples in any top level competition. Period.

Unfortunately, this was a poor exhibition. Jumping and more jumping, with flows throughout the performance. Not a bit of flair. We all miss Yuzuru. Not one of these skaters can match his skills. He was poetry in motion.....

@@jacare5503I don't like repeating myself. Malinin Is an extraordinary jumper, not a skater yet. In this routine, there is hardly anything in between jumps. He doesn't have the artistry nor the flair to compare to the best skaters of the past. He might improve those skills, who knows, but figure skating requires more than jumping and waving arms with the grace of a scarecrow.

@@ИринаВ-аfigure skating demands technical ability and artistry. Malinin has plenty of the former, none of the latter.

@Bregman-x6u You’re not repeating anything, as your initial point was 'we all miss Yuzuru,' written under Ilia’s performance. Well, no, we don’t. Imagine this-I even prefer Ilia. And yes, I see a lot of figure skating in his programs. He has improved a lot this season. But even last season, his Malagueña was stunning, both in choreography and jumps, even with much lower PCS.
Fanyus and so-called 'figure skating fans' supporting other athletes just can’t forgive Ilia for being able to do things no one else can-like Yuzu failing his 4A. Yuma Kagiyama is proud and honest enough to admit it. No one complains about how both French skaters keep ruining their programs, unable to save any complex element. But everyone is so cruel to Ilia.
Didn’t you see how he hit his back after the 4Lo? How do you expect someone to execute a level-4 spin with an injured back? Have you ever tried it? Ilia got up and did three more insane combos, plus the raspberry twist and the backflip. He is very flexible, just like Yuzuru. And both of them stopped doing the 'girly' layback spin-injuries. But Yuzuru is allowed to be injured, Adam is, everyone is… except for Ilia.
In this program, the music suits him, the timing is perfect, and the accents on jumps and transitions are very well placed-especially for the first three jumps: 4F, 4A, and 4Lz. The composition is there, the choreography is there. What he hesitates to do is those deep knee bends. Well, I know it’s important for skating, but as a ballet dancer, I find it ugly.
Ballet artistry is about fully extended knees and feet, a straight back, relaxed shoulders that don’t stick up to the ears, long limbs, high jumps, graceful lines, and clear arm positions. That’s why I always find it funny when 'figure skating fans' tell that "pcs- skaters" have ballet technique.
To be fair, Yuzuru had good ballet aesthetics-he developed them. The Japanese skaters in general are hardworking and admirable people.
