- Due to many requests, here's another tutorial on Ming Vase designs. Sorry this one had to be sped up this much since it ended up having around 3-4hrs of footage xD but since the colours are very minimum, the steps itself wasn't too complex, so hopefully this is still enjoyable and useful for you guys who would like to paint along.

I have the same problem as you do getting both sides to match but I came up with a simple solution. I use copy paper and fold it in half. One one side, I draw one side then simply cut it out so when I open up the fold both sides match exactly then I just lightly trace around it. Saves so much time and frustration. Love everything you do. Your voice, diction and choicest of words are spot on giving you the gold medal for teaching watercolor art. Bless you.

At the beginning of your video you mentioned that you have a hard time drawing symmetric items, just a hack for that is drawing one side first and then moving your drawing upside down to complete the other side that gives you trouble. Hope it’s helpful! 😊

I'm in love with them all! I'd be allured to have one of them easily. I really appreciate the way you compensate for how the design looks as it moves around the vase. I often get stuck focusing on the symmetry of the design rather than showing the perspective change of a round object.
Also, your explanations of consistency and pressure are very helpful. Your voice is soothing and pleasant, too.

I'm still not sure what my style is so maybe I'll explore it.
I also find it next to impossible to draw an item like this correctly so I use the simple technique I learned in First Grade to make a heart for my mom's Valentine card! Fold a paper in half, draw half of the item against the fold, cut ot the shape and - voila! - a perfecf symmetrical shape that can be traced onto your paper. So useful throughout life!!!!! Enjoy.

Nia, these are lovely and just watching (and following along: made a bookmark!) has helped get me through a tumultuous weekend. Thank you. I'm so glad I subbed after those cherry blossoms. (That was only a few weeks ago for me, and I hate my cherry blossoms still 😂 BUT others love them: they're background for bulfinches, and I'm going to the printers this week to see about having prints made. I haven't done that before, but more than one person wants the original... your cherry blossom lessons apparently made the painting "not awful") I will try to figure out the ko-fi thing, or perhaps get an original off you.
