My parents both worked on the buses at Newton Mearns. Their first house was 45 Barrhead Rd opposite the Bus depot. My grandparents rented Green farm for a number of years. I myself have great memmories of Newton Mearns where i lived until i was 25, my sister still lives there. I could relate some great stories of my childhood which people would find hard to believe today as to the antics of young free sprited boy in the countryside. Some of which seem reckless today. We would spend the summers out everyday from early morning till dark.
I spent my summers in Newton Mearns with my Aunt and Uncle who lived in Castle Road .. I loved every minute and made lots of friends .. I remember travelling alone on the bus and made friends with a conductress called Vera .. Happy times
I knew Lynn McIntyre personally from his involvement with the SVBM at Lathalmond. I was very sorry to learn that he had sadly passed away in January 2019.

Excellent stuff. Always been interested in Western SMT even to the present day. I stay on BUTE and they were the buses that took me to school.
I worked with Lyn when he came to Johnstone after the Thornliebank depot closed. A true gentleman.
Takes me back to my school boy days: WSMT Service 42: Ayr-Strathaven-Airdrie
Top class
This is wonderful ! Takes you back to the good (?) old days
