infinite possibilities with Soundpaint ---- nothing but respect for the team the fun comes from stretching a single sample and playing up the range its all about workflow and how fast you can get from concept to execution
Hi Chis, great seeing you review Soundpaint. They have a couple more free libraries on the site you can use (Free Angles and Free ASMR). Also, if you have libraries like the Bazantar you get the Soundpaint version for 50% off if you contact 8Dio support via the chat (so just $10 for that instrument). As you buy more instruments, it also unlocks more patches that combine instruments that you own.
Have you bought any Soundpaint libraries since then? They had a major update recently. The reason it’s so playable is because the layers are generated using a morphing algorithm or something.
Regarding the layers it has a special file format and system which means that is morphs between the sample layers so that you get 127 dynamic layers. It is very clever stuff.
maybe this is just me, i started out my sample journey with spitfire so part of this could be how used i am to their interface, like how you get attached to apples interface as an apple user but i love how natural spitfire and fracture sounds interfaces are. I feel like alot of the players from orchestral tools, cinesamples, 8dio etc looks like a soft synth. If im playing something thats supposed to be trying its best to replicate an acoustic instrument i don't wanna feel like im playing a synth. I know this isn't a big deal at the end of the day and it doesn't effect the sound of the instrument but im always slightly put off by these soft synth like interfaces. I just prefer an organic look for something thats supposed to be an acoustic instrument, like spitfire and fracture sounds interfaces are.
I'm looking for a straightforward "Intimate" Steinway D with no effects on it. Is that available? I'm just not happy with the current crop of piano packages out there - and that includes VSL's Steinway D. They all have strengths but also a weakness here or there that basically, and ultimately, make them unusable for the piano player I record.
i'm a decent pianist, and at best i'm only fine with plug-in pianos. my go to piano plug-in is Pianoteq. there's a decent "D" there, and it's very customizable. i should also observe that the controller and sustain/una corda/sostenuto pedal set up has a big impact on the pianist's experience of a virtual piano.
I have installed Soundpaint free in my computer. I have an old Cubacwe VST 32, as I have created a lot of music in many years. But when I changed Windows 7 OS to Windows 10 64 bit, I got some problems with the instruments and plugins. But I can now use my old Cubase VST 32 again with som compatible tricks. But I even have start to test Cakwalk. But I am in that position that I don´t want to start from scratch with a new DAW, because I have to spend hours and weeks to learn all new things. In Cubase VST 32, it is more full speed directly and I can start to record when I get a new idea as I want to test. But when I now have installed Soundpaint and wanted to test this fantastic 1928 Steinway, I can´t find it as all other VST instruments I have in every midi track. Is it impossible to use Soundpaint as a VST intrument in some DAW?
@@LeeGee I could not go on with a 32 bit DAW as it is in my Cubase VST 32 5.1. I tested Cake Walk and Reaper. I found that Reaper not was so difficult to learn and I can now feel more freedom with all effects and instruments.

I’ve a colleague who’s very into them, and I play them at her studio. They sound great, very professional, right out of the box.
Holy **** this plugin is golden.

very impressed. not surprised, as 8dio has always done great sound design, but yeah. i've got to dig in further on this.

not a windows guy, but maybe someone else in the community can weigh in...
I have windows...also I'm new with Cubase, but I can tell ya that soundpaint opens up just fine for me. Hope you've solved your issue by now

how to not have delay when playing this, I have 3 ms delay
That's not much, it's like sitting one mtr from the sound source
