I just heard a quote from Frank about finding out who your friends are after sitting in a wheelchair for 9 months. He was spot on. After I was paralyzed, some people just didn't have any use for me anymore and they stopped calling. But the ones that hung around are truly a blessing to me. They're badass.
I used to be a drummer of a band. I broke my femur in an motorcycle accident few days ago and have to use a wheelchair... after this, they just put another guy in my place. People that i used to know as friends just, you know, disappear... In these moments you know who is who.
As a very excited 13 year old I was waiting to see him in Glasgow then. My older brother was taking me to what was going to be my first gig. It was hard to believe at the time how someone could do something so horrible to Frank.
My friend got us tickets for this gig, and I remember being a little miffed that he’d bought tickets for the ‘matinee’ performance, as I thought the second show would probably be better. How wrong can you be?! It was a truly shocking event which genuinely traumatised everyone in the audience who witnessed it.
Why should we believe that the creep who pushed Zappa off the stage later became a “good person?” Just because he supposedly became a Buddhist? Give me a break. Did the SOB ever try to deliver an apology to Zappa or issue a public statement? I doubt it.
I know, and you're right. I think that at the time I was just looking for any ole pic of the band. Ironically I still have a hard time putting faces to the names of the band members.

As a Brit and a long-time Zappa fan I'd like to apologize sincerely to fellow fans worldwide for that jerk who pushed Frank offstage.
No need to apologise on behalf of whole Britain just because of one motherfucker. I hope that git suffered though.
the audio from the incident is included on the Mothers 1971 box set released in March
There's been a bootleg of it ("Swiss Cheese") since time immemoiral.
Love Zappa, caught his son live a few years ago Zappa Plays Zappa they're called. Thanks again 👍

Very interesting recounting of the dreadful incident. Thank you!

Bet he wishes he stayed home from that tour. I keep forgetting how the fire is so close to this.

Good, but the pictures are wrong. It's not that band that played at the rainbow, it's the flo and eddy period :)

Hello teenage America. I, am Suzy Creamcheese.
Dude you had to do cocaine in the 70’s otherwise the weed wouldn’t get you high every day
Yoga would've been great for Frank.
