    I was selling a very rare Camel Trophy roll cage for a 5 door Freelander, unused. I kept getting messages from a guy who wanted it for practically nothing. After constant badgering about the price being too high, he started getting personal. "You're an idiot if you think it's worth that", "Nobody wants your expensive pile of tubes" etc. So I told him he wouldn't get them even if he offered DOUBLE and told him never to bother me again. The cage sold for the full asking price the very next day !
    Some people are so entitled.

      I don't mind high prices or low offers, that's the point of bargaining. What I've no time for is being rude, if the offers too low then politely reject it. If you think its over priced then try a low ball offer and accept the outcome.

    What a plonker, sorry entitled plonker!. You did right blocking him. He's not worth the headspace. I'm not a dealer but I was selling my last car privately just over a year ago and I had someone similar to him texting me about the car. He was saying "it's not worth the asking price (he hadn't even seen it)" and "I'll give you (a thousand less than what I was asking)". I told him no thanks and then he got pretty rude telling me I hadn't a clue about cars and I'd never sell it etc etc. So he buggered off but came back a few days later (presumably convinced I'd be desperate to sell it to him) and offered me even less. I was very happy to tell him I'd just sold it for the full asking price! That was almost as satisfying as getting what I wanted for the car. Lot of weird and rude people out there.

    You played this absolutely right! You’re the seller, you set the price of the package; he’s the buyer, he knows and sets his budget; if the price and budget don’t meet, then acknowledge that, and walk away.
    But he decided that he knew better, thought he could pressure your team into a deal, and over stepped the mark by far too far. Not someone you want to do business with.
    One extra point. Social Media, especially video, can make some feel that they have a far more develop human relationship exists in actuality. How many teenagers do we know on Facebook whose sworn best friend is someone they have never met and who lives on the far side of the world? Some adults get equally confused by SM, so his strange and forceful attitude could in part stem from that - Good Luck!

    I know this kind of people all too well, on a smaller scale on vinted. They try to downtalk the product after you’ve refused their offers even though they wanted the product in the first place.

    • @KeyBrosUK
      @KeyBrosUK 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I often wonder if they have the self awareness to even know they are doing it. After you’ve given them the ultimatum they pay full price, and then contact vinted and tell them it’s damaged or something for a partial refund or as I’ve had in some cases full refund without even having to return it. They edit the photo and add a hole or tear onto it. Infuriating, had it for years on a well known auction site who ALWAYS sided with the buyer, won’t use them anymore. Can’t, I’m banned and they say I owe them 700 for a product someone scammed me out of. Changed my address to a local council office who they are chasing for the funds😂😂

    • @SuperApex93
      @SuperApex93 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@KeyBrosUK I'd say it's 85% are aware of what they are doing. Contacting vinted to put in a false damage claim is a scummy thing to do though I've never had that happen to me yet. The ones I've had is where they ask for more photos even thought there's more than enough there along with tags also because they're pissed about the price not coming down they choose to get the item verified which means the item will take longer to get to them and I will get the money late.

    • @KeyBrosUK
      @KeyBrosUK 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ the verification punishment, I like that one. I like it even better when they get the item and claim it’s fake too, had that a couple of times with Gucci shorts (even though I had the original receipts both email and physical with bank statements guess who they sided with? Watch out for the false damage claim, it’ll happen eventually - I’d suggest take a video of the item whilst you’re packing it and make the buyer aware too!

      It's that peace of mind. A private seller can sell a complete lemon, and the buyer has to pick up the bill. A dealer has a reputation to protect, and will value repeat customers. A business is not only judged by what it sells, it is judged by how it deals with things when they go wrong.

It even happens on the low value stuff I sell on eBay! I like your “retail ready” approach to vehicle prep. If someone’s looking at other vehicles, it can take a buyer out of the market with something that can be driven away immediately. One of the many reasons I enjoy watching yours and other channels is seeing what goes into properly prepping and just what’s involved.

    I worked in the motor trade for 12 years and I have some terrible stories and some hilarious stories….. The public are in general lovely but there are some people which are rude.
    A customer purchased a new car and returned to my service department an hour later and threw the car keys at me in very aggressive manner.
    They shouted and balled at me the number plates on the car are incorrect!
    Of course we could of fitted the wrong plates or made up the wrong plates up so I went to the car with the customer to investigate.
    Look , look they said , just look! Can you not see the problem!
    They are a different colour on the front and back!
    Lol 😂I then had to explain and show them around the car park and explain the front are white and rear are yellow on every car in the uk.

    Ah…. The old “ customer is always right” scenario. Customer, are way more rude and entitled than they used to be. There is no respect. I have been in the trade 20 odd years and once had a customer complain about a scuff (after he’d owned the car 5 months) on the underside of his front bumper. When I pointed out that I hadn’t noticed it when he collected the car (and, presumably neither had he) he proceeded to suggest that due to being fat, his words (I’m a little chunky) I hadn’t been able to get down low and inspect it properly!!! When I told him that his insults and bad language was not acceptable he then thought it ok to get up into my face and be incredibly rude again! Being a main dealership, he thought that he was entitled to speak to me that way and was surprised ( he later wrote in and complained to the boss - who was me) when I took him by the arm, forced him back into his car and barred him from the dealership!!’ Too harsh, I didn’t think so!

    The kind of buyer that'd bring the car back and demand its converted to electric while he waits in reception drinking coffee, and then insult you for not performing miracles when he used to perform them all the time when he was in the biz.

    I've been in business for more than 20 years and I've definitely noticed an increase in rude entitled people. My philosophy has always been to be polite, helpful, honest, transparent and offer genuinely great service. BUT very often people have unrealistic expectations, when they don't get the answer they want they will kick off and leave bad reviews etc. Very difficult to navigate sometimes.

    I used to employ a technique with rude customers ... increase the price every time they are rude and stick to your guns. Thankfully most customers are reasonable and grateful.

    I used to be in the car trade as a mechanic but also know about the sales side of the business. I think you do an excellent job and are more than fair with everything you say. There seems to be lots of nut cases out there that know nothing about the trade but think they do.

    It's just bizarre I don't understand why people do this, it makes no sense, you are free to choose whether you buy something or not. To have a rant because someone isn't selling you something at the price you want to pay is just a bit mental! Even if people say they're joking when throwing insults, it's still not an acceptable way to behave and I often wonder if these people really are "joking".
    Also, is there something wrong with being a plumber? It's a pretty skilled job!

    Ever since you said your surname was Betty when I see you I think of Michael Crawford saying ooo Betty. In one episode he was a plumber he went to fix someone’s boiler which then exploded wrecking the house he came out and said to the customer that’s the best I can do maybe that’s what you should say.😂

    You did right Joe absolutely no need to be rude. I suppose the answer is that any enquiries you get before the car is prepped you need to thank them for and reply you’ll be in touch when it’s prepped for sale and don’t be drawn to giving any details away prior to that especially price.
    Enjoying your videos thanks 😊

    Great video, I was self employed for many years, I used to get people ( usually highly educated) telling me how long a job should take or how much it should cost !!!
    trouble is, I am not as diplomatic as you, and was usually rather blunt, never affected my workload though, I was always busy, but after a while I could spot the type of customer that I didnt want to work for !

    I have to say I very much enjoy your vids and the openess you bring to car dealership dealings. i'm from a generation, 1960s/70's when car dealers did get/have (and deserve)a very bad rep. so it's really nice to see how things have changed. I was totally surprised listening to you on a previous vid where you explained the lengths you were prepared to go to to help a customer out, cudos. No one should have to put up with rudeness, especially from some one you don't know. Thank you for posting 🙂
