Yo, en México 31 agosto 2024. Mi canción favorita. Con Patsy y con Goggi. Saludos Nancy. Por cierto conoci Winchester, Virginia donde nació Patsy, eso fue cuando trabajaba en Federal Mogul . Now I´ m retired.
I can still hear my oldest sister singing this to her babies as she would rock them to sleep. She had a beautiful smooth voice just like Patsy. Rest in peace sister❤️
One of my favorite songs by Patsy Cline. She had so many great songs though. The only one I don’t like is “I Fall To Pieces”. I think it’s because my sister sang it so often at the Country Clubs we went to that I got tired of it.
That song was prophetic. When they found the wreckage of the plane, Patsy's body was in many many pieces. The only part recognisable was the back of her head.
I just realized that this is the first version of the wayward wind that I ever heard as a child. Two classes of female country singers PATSY CLINE and everyone else.
The late Alton (Al) Hendrickson did the guitar for this one and for the one Gogi Grant did, he was a studio musician and played for all the major studios. He told me that Gogi Grant took over 68 takes to try and do this song and just didn't get it. Al finally got tired of all the takes and said it goes like this and sang the song, which I still have the original, and said Patsy Cline got it on the first take!
She passed when I was 13 but I listened to her music for several years before then. She was a close friend of another country star that my Dad used to run with. I have so many of her early records that I don't listen to as I don't want to ever ruin them by over-playing the. I also have 4 or 5 CD's that I play very often - to the point I have toreplace them once in a big while. The sweetest, silkiest, emotional power house who will live forever in her music.
Love the Cline , since I was ,ohh, maybe 10 or 11. Let's not forget the others that crossed over that cold march night , Cowboy Copays , Hawkshaw Hawkins and pilot, manager, guitarist Randy Hughes. He is credited on many recordings. Me and a friend drove down to the crash site, 1991 maybe. That was before that was turned into a nice area. Then, we just pulled over on the side of the blacktop and walked back into the woods a bit , and there it was , the hole in the ground I had always read about. I couldn't believe it. It was deep even after all of those years since 1963. I had to step down into the hole. It was still up to my knees. It had to be terrifying what was happening to them that night. All this time passed and we still miss them. I'm happy we have recordings. Just think how it would be if we didn't . Nobody would know Patsy's music now. The last time anyone would have heard the Cline would be 1963. Our recordings are so valuable. use a good record cleaner.
So I’m here because some total and complete stranger, a man, left a voicemail on my phone and he’s singing this song! I guess I’ll be saving that voicemail. 😊

One of my favorite songs. Didn’t know it was Patsy Cline though. Anyway, just another example for my admiration. By the way, she took Loretta Lynn under her wing when Loretta was starting. Sounds like a great person.

Several years ago I went to a summer theater show. There was a woman who imitated Patsy. The woman did a fantastic job singing and sounding like Patsy. I don't recall the lady's name but I'd love to see that program again

The backup singers here, the Jordanaires, were Elvis Presley's backup singers for most of his career.
I remembered that, too.
What a shame that beautiful voice was stilled so young. We were all robbed that day, but Patsy Cline gave us music that will last forever.
I can still hear my oldest sister singing this to her babies as she would rock them to sleep. She had a beautiful smooth voice just like Patsy. Rest in peace sister❤️

The music score of this song was featured in the movie Stagecoach, which is why I just now searched TH-cam for this song.
So tragic that Patsy died so young. Think of the fabulous career she could have had.
Imagine a duet with Buddy Holly.
i liked this song from a very young age.
1956...Gogi Grant took this to # one on the pop charts that year...Both are great yet I still prefer Patsy's version...

The wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
In a lonely shack by a railroad track
He spent his younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward-bound
Made him a slave to his wanderin' ways
And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
Oh, I met him there in a border town
He vowed we'd never part
Though he tried his best to settle down
I'm now alone with a broken heart
And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
The next of kin to the wayward wind
Great sounds last forever -thanks Patsy
