- I was underwhelmed by the inks I picked from my Project Inkdown box. But I decided to ink up pens anyway because I don't have to keep using the pens and inks if I don't like them. And let me tell you that I'm positively surprised. What I also did not expect was that I would have such a perfect rainbow.
Lamy 2000 (F) - Kobe Museum Link Lampwork Maroon
Benu Euphoria (M) - Pelikan Brilliant Brown
Nagasawa Gearske (B) - Dominant Industry Earl Grey Tea
Sailor Pro Gear (M) - Rohrer & Klingner Altgoldgruen
Platinum 3776 (M) - BPC Cerulean
Pilot Vanishing Point (M) - Pilot Iroshizuku Kon Peki
Lamy Safari (B) - Diamine Rainbow's End
Benu Euphoria (Parallel 2.4mm) - Diamine Lavender Frost
Scribo Feel (M) - Sailor Manyo Akebi

This color palette is absolutely stunning and is making me research some inks! Thanks for sharing💗
Have fun!
I had no idea the Pilot Parallel nib could fit in the Benu! I just tried it on a Talisman and it works. Thanks for sharing this! :)
For pens with a metal ring on the section (like your Scribo), I like to take a damp paper towel to wipe off excess ink. A dry cloth doesn't do much - it has to be damp for it to wick away ink. Hopefully that'll help.
Oh and for picking cuticles - we usually pick them because they are already rough. Try cuticle oil or vitamin e oill. Apply and rub into your nails and cuticles before going to sleep. You can get little travel applicators to use in the day time.
Thanks so much for the advice!
what a lovely colour palette! thank you for sharing as always! :)
Thanks for watching!
Listening to your say R&K Alt Goldgrun is my favorite. I have used Diamine inks in my Platinum 3776s and had good results and I currently have FWP Oyster Hour in a nib and the flow is smooth. Two tips I have for jagged cuticles is to keep a bottle of hand lotion next to the bottle of hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom so the soap doesn’t dry them out and also, using cuticle oil at night. I like your nail color. Your ink selection is fantastic!
I'm so glad you love my pronunciation of it. I need to use more "normal" inks in the 3776. I think I just need to be a bit more mindful because I really love how it writes. Thanks so much for the advice!
Tips for picking - use a nail oil/ very moisturizing hand cream with jojoba oil. Will help prevent hang nails and such. For me, one of the other things that help (I have all kinds of "bad" hand habits lol) is different fidget toys, stress balls etc. i personally like tangles the best. :)
The fidget toy is such a good idea. Do you have any recommendation for one I could use in the car? I don't want it to take too much of my attention away from the road.
Love your line-up and the Nagasawa is 🔥🔥🔥
I think it's my favorite pen of them all.
The ink on your callus is probably from ink stuck in the threads. If ink creeps into the cap, it will often get down into the threads. Sneaky ink!
I hope so. I need to clean it off and see exactly where it comes from.
I’m currently using J. Herbin Rouge d’Orient in my Platinum #3776 Century 14K and it feels surprisingly wet to me. The three wettest inks I’ve used to date (in other pens) have been Diamine Sargasso Sea, BunGuBox Ink of the Witch, and J. Herbin Émeraude de Chivor.
Yes, I am always surprised when I use Emeraude de Chivor. It's so wet! I'm so glad you are having a great experience. I am loving mine right now too.
I have a pen where the ink seems to sweating out into the cap when it is closed. Someone suggested it might be down to a crack in the feed housing, but I can't see one. That does not mean there isn't one. I'm going to ask people with eyeballs to look at it today. That is a really lovely lineup!
I hope it's not a crack and just some random weirdness.
Wow, this is beautiful! I saw two pens I want to try (down the road, since I looked up the prices omg). I'm new to this and only have a Lamy Safari and a Pilot Metropolitan at the moment. This was a blast to see!
Would you be able to tell me more about the nib of your Bemu Euphoria? It looks different than any nibs I have been introduced to so far. You made a beautiful broad header with it!
Do you feel a difference with the gold nibs you're using? Do you feel a major difference with your Lamy 2000 over a Safari or Al-Star?
I'm so happy you liked it! Yes, the nib on my Benu Euphoria is a Pilot Parallel nib. It's a calligraphy pen that you can purchase for fairly cheap and do broad lines. It's basically just two thin rectangular metal sheets. It's a lot of fun using it with lighter inks or shimmer.
I do feel a difference with my gold nibs, most but not all gold nibs tend to be softer and not as stiff as steel nibs and wetter. If you have the opportunity to go to a pen meet (if there are some in your area) or a pen show to try out different pens, so you can see for yourself.
And yes, the Lamy 2000 is so wet and smooth it's incredible.
One of my pens does the same thing as your Scribo. I stopped dipping it in the ink bottle to fill and now I only syringe fill the converter.
I found ink stays in the little connection at the tip of the grib section where the resin meets the metal piece, and it was from dipping to fill it. Since my finger rested near that connection I would always get ink on the same part of my finger.
Hope that makes sense?
Yeah, it does. Thank you so much for sharing!
I love my Platinum 3776 Shape of Heart in black. I am using Dominant Industry Romanian Red in it presently and am enjoying it very much. Have you tried that ink? I love that Nagasaki pen. I may have to put it on my list! My pen wish list is getting as long as my To Read list!
Ah, Cheryl, here it is. I think I need to give that pen another chance. It's performing lovely with the ink I have in it now. My list is not getting longer as fast as previously so I'm very hopeful it will slow down eventually.
Japanese has no definite articles, but translation to English can add one if appropriate. The official translation, would be by Platinum or its US distributors. My experience with Esterbrook nibs is that sometimes they tend to be rather dry. (And yes, I realize that they are just Jowo #6 nibs, but I stand by my statement - they seem rather dry-ish.)
Hm. That's interesting - all the retailers add the 'the" in the product title. But thanks for clarifying.
Maybe they (the Esterbrook nibs) feel dry because they aren't tuned as some of the other Jowo nibs? I have no logical explanation.
Quick question! For your Benu Euphoria, does the parallel nib slide in and snap like when it's in the Opus 88? Or does it need to be screwed in on the threads?
No, you do not need to do that. You just take the whole grip section of the Parallel and screw it into the body of the Euphoria.
do you have a system to keep track what ink is in each pen? do you leave ink inside the pens after you are done writing? i'm new to fountain pens.
I have a notebook where I note down what ink I put into what pen. Here is a video about all of my notebooks: th-cam.com/video/iV5igvgOdw0/w-d-xo.html
I leave ink in my pens for up to three months. Shimmer inks and sheening inks usually less and when I was on a "monthly" schedule I emptied them out after the month was over.
@@seemownay thank you! That was very informative
Would love to know what pens you can switch Pilot Parallel into😊
I'll see if I can make a video about it. Thanks!
I had the same inky callous when using a Lamy ALStar. It was due to a crack in the section. Hopefully thats not the case with your Scribo - I suspect it would be more than an $8 fix.
I hope it's not this because that would just suck big time.
Hi! If you will sell the Shape of Heart, then I'm interested. :) I love your videos and I appreciate them very much. :)
I think I've fallen back in love with it.
