Got this in a 159. Absolutely love it for the low angle deep days here in Japan. Also, super fun in the spring conditions. Great addition to the quiver and can't recommend it enough.
i’ve taken this board out a few times now and it is fantastic. i’ve tested it in slush hard pack and a tiny bit of powder, nothin too deep yet but i’m really impressed with how it’s been so far. took it out in the park today and the jumps felt super stable
@BoardArchive Hey TJ, appreciate your reviews. 6'0" 180Ib 11.5US boot, low intermediate. I currently ride a 152 Marhar Lumberjack (2020 model, flat to rocker) and really like it. Was looking for something a bit better in the pow and at carving on the groomers. I ride regular and switch equal time, equally well, so am partial to twins and volume shifted boards. Was thinking of getting a 156 Spring Break Powder Twin - hoping it'd be nimble enough while being better at carving than what I have. Thoughts?
I just ordered a 153 last night! I’m short, 5’6 and 190 ish pounds and size 12 boot , I was about to pull the trigger on the magic carpet but kept exploring
Hey TJ i'm massive fan of all your videos, i'm from Australia and have not been able to snowboard for the last 2 yrs due to Covid restrictions, but am very hopeful for a 2022 season in Japan. Fingers crossed. I don't do any park stuff but i love your reviews on Freeride/ Powder boards as i'm into the tree runs and carving groomers. would love you to do a review on the Yes The Y snowboard. Very jealous of all the great places you get to test boards on, what a dream job. Stay safe and i look forward to all your new videos coming soon. Cheers. A big G'day from down under.
I am 5'11 220lbs boot is 11. Wondering if the 159 will offer good float. Capita says 162 for my weight. Seems like it would be a boat. Want this board specifically for deep days and wanna keep it centered. Any thoughts are really appreciated!
Aye TJ, I was recommended this board in a 153 I typically ride a 157 mercury. After riding once in some really deep really fluffy power I was a little disappointed as I kept sinking. I was curious if I should size up to a 156 after hearing more about the shorter side cut? We typically don’t get powder like I was riding in, I was a little off trail taking care of business lol so I’m thinking maybe it was just too thick and too fluffy for any board but idk other than that the board was awesome, definitely see what you mean with the tight turns it can throw you into but loved it
Do you think this board would work well on the east coast with icy/hardpack conditipns? I want to hope there will be powder days but I also want to be realistic. Im 6'3" 230 so i love the wide base. Im looking to get a 162cm. And love all mtn riding, carving and, butters. What do you think?
How do you feel this compares to Orca? I like O off piste as it floats so well and use it for everything but not a huge fan of the reverse camber between the feet. I want something short fat but more sure underfoot. Is that this board or a different one? @BoardArchive
Would you say this is a short and fat Mercury? Seems like a similar profile expect Mercury has a slight setback and not as wide. Just wondering your thoughts comparing the two. Thanks!
Can you please review the SB Powder Racer and make a vs/comparison with some of the Jones please? :) Super curious about your opinion of rocker - flat - rocker vs hybrid rocker and hyb camber.
i have goliath 161w and im thinking about replacing it with the SBP twin 162, my boot size 13 so i need the width though the goliath is great all around, what do you reckon i should do ?
I’m about 212lbs and only about 5’5” tall with a 9.5 boot and 21.5 stance. They have a 153 at my local shop, but not sure if it would work for me given my weight…
This or the Jones Mind Expander Twin?? They seem to be similar use boards. When is the ME Twin review coming out btw? Been looking at that board all season!
what type of bindings do you recommend for powder boards? I have a spring break powder racer and don’t want to constantly swap my bindings between my boards
Soo its a pow day you are going exploring to find natural features to hit and do some medium to low angle turns in tight trees. You only brough the Sping Break and the Yes. 2020 on the trip. Which one do you take out?..
honestly they are very comparable. I think the powder twin may be slightly more stiff/stable but they have similar width and sidecut. Twinpig is Asym though so it will carve a bit differently and the pointy shape can be a downside for butters but not a huge deal
Jones Mind Expander twin, Bataleon Magic Carpet, or this? My main board is a free thinker and id like something a little softer, shorter/wider, camrock, better for butters, but mainly great for pow landings and narrow powder tree runs. I’m worried about the magic carpet’s 3bt being so aggressive, the jones would be perfect but I ride a 154 and the mind expander’s smallest size is a 154, and the capita has awful graphics and seems a little wide for its length for me. Anyone have thoughts? The Yes 20/20 also looks sick but the sizing sucks
The profile is very good but the width is a bit concerning. I found that it is very difficult for me to ride boards that are wider. So I try to choose the right profile that will do better in powder but to stay on regular width.
Now i have to decide between this one and the burton free thinker for this year, anybody have any interjections or recommendations feel free to responded to this, pros and cons for each? Im currently running a 2018 burton flight attendant with step ons and the photon boot, and want something more twin shaped for jumps and riding switch. Intermediate/advanced rider
Board Archive oh okay thanks so much for the help, had atlases in mind too but I currently own scotty contact pros, I think those would be too flexible for this board
@@ruzgarrmn9924 you can certainly make them work since you already have them. But if you're looking for a new pair to complement this board I think you would really enjoy something a little more responsive like the Atlas
Surf Skate Ride or Die Films of America the reason I asked is because I dont know how stiff the board is while riding. Im not some random lazy beginner no need to get so aggressive towards TJ he is putting up content each week and they are really enjoyable. Please have some respect towards him and me. Its perfectly fine for him to recommend me Union bindings since he has been riding Union the past few years on his videos. Yes I do consider other bindings especially the burton step ons now that they fixed the clicking sound. Its not like either me or TJ wants to have a argument. His recommendation really helps because like I said I dont know the flex and the feel of the board. My previous bindings were burton and tbh I wasnt as satisfied as I am with the union ones.
I'm still curious, how do you still post videos when winter hasn't hit yet? Or do you use like 2022 gear and post them through winter for the upcoming season?
@@BoardArchive aww man! That sucks. Board shop down the street has last year's models on sale and I was thinking about snagging one but have no idea about them.
this could be a good choice for you, but whatever you get make sure you get a "wide" version. With size 12 boots I wouldn't consider anything less than 260mm waist width, ideally closer to 265mm+
Hi TJ, great review as always. Like Pierce said in the comments, it's nice that you started posting regularly now. It would also be great if you could check out and maybe answer some of the comments. 🥺 Still hanging on the Capita Asymulator vid. 😅 Keep up the good work.

What binding angles do you use on this board? 18-12 degrees? Looks fun!!
what's that black board with they yellow stripes in the back?
Would you size up to the 59 or ride the 156. Weighing 185 lbs and ride mt baker.
