I cannot believe she won't tell her daughters they're beautiful. My Mum told me I was beautiful when I was a chubby little girl with white blonde hair. And ive grown up always feeling secure in my looks unlike a lot of women. I was also told I was clever too. I think children need to be told they're beautiful too. I hope she learns this.
She tells them they’re beautiful, but doesn’t emphasise on vanity and superficial things. I’ve listened to her on another podcast and she explained a bit better. I think she’s just pointing out she gives more deep compliments than the “beautiful” comments. X
@@lauramarymcculloch9388 it may not be healthy to have your looks as your main achievement. But I think it's really mean to never tell your children that they're beautiful. I'm no supermodel, but I grew up knowing I was attractive. I grew up knowing I was smart. And once you have those beliefs about yourself embedded, if anyone tells me different, I don't take it personally as I know it's not the truth. Definitely have my Mum to thank for that, as it gave me a pretty solid sense of self esteem. So I do think it's important to tell your children they're beautiful, as well as other nice things.
@@Blondiee777 She does tell her children that they are beautiful. She even gives an example later in the podcast. It's just not what she emphasizes. I think being praised for physical appearance is more common with girls than with boys. Growing up, I don't remember being told that I was beautiful or handsome very often, and when it did happen, I found it embarrassing. In society, appearance is more important for girls than for boys, and I think that's what Paloma is trying to counter.
I love you both. Paloma's grounded honesty is so refreshing, and adore Abbey's kind, funny nature. This was a beautiful chat, thank you for posting xx
Really good pod, I felt the same as Paloma when I had my first son as I had a terrible birth as well. Thanks for sharing ❤
Love the open hearted true conversation🌺
Love this! I’m 24 minutes in & I see 2 strong, independent (married or not) mothers who love their kids but are telling some truths ❤❤
What a lovely podcast xx

I was told I was beautiful my whole life and it became my currency, it's not healthy for being attractive to be your main "achievement"
