😂😂😂I have my 63rd birthday coming soon and I had to make sure my wife was around when I watched this video the first time on my TV. I think she got the idea😊. thank you brother. Dwayne
Good choices for any age. I have some of those compressed towels I’m my emergency kit. Emergency tp or? I’m 61 and I LOVE my down booties. If my feet are cold, I’m cold. Game changer for me. I have the enlightened equipment ones, but there are several choices on Amazon too. Also, if an older hiker doesn’t have already, sun gloves.
Great reminder for me to let the family know about the one item I don't have - the flextail pump! This was a nice review of simple things for gift giving! Enjoy your warmer Christmas in the desert! Sure beats being frozen in!
Yes, Maureen, the little pump is a cool gadget. I think its little purr brightens my mood at the end of a long day. Once my air mattress is blown up, I can rest my weary bones a bit. I’m thinking about hiking the AZT in the spring.
Other options for how to carry leuko tape: 1. Wrap around a pill bottle - you're an older hiker, likely you're carrying some pills. 2. Wrap around a Nuum electrolyte tablet bottle 3. Get some release paper from labels or tape or... and stick the leuko tape to that.
Good afternoon friend, it's been a while since I've seen a video of yours, I think you're in great shape. I just forwarded this video to my daughter, just for informational purposes of course (hehe), I hope you have a good Christmas and a better year. From far away, a hug. 13:01
Glen! Yes! I am excited for you. I hope you let me know how your preparations are going, and that you’ll let me know how the trip is progressing. Date switches are relatively easy to pick up for the PCT.
Nice list for hikers of any age. Why denigrate and perpetuate old geezer attitude about older hikers?? I guess it’s meant to be funny, but I prefer to surround myself with happy, vibrant and energetic, fun seekers, there’s plenty of them out there. Why would you choose to engage in griping about stereotypical labelling and again???
What you see as griping, I see as a celebration of being an older person who is lucky enough to still be in the backpacking game. I have lots of friends who are younger backpackers and they like my sense of humor.

thank you brother.
Dwayne
Very strategic of you brother. Last thing we need is a tie for Christmas, or a kitchen appliance.
Keep rambling on at those whipper snapper backpackers , it's our gift to them ! You don't have to be crazy to go backpacking! But it helps 😊❤
@@earlebacciochi9796 Yes, they need our wisdom although we are not always very coherent.
"They're coming to take me away, ha, ha" great ideas for stocking stuffers. Don't realize you wanted one until you get it for Christmas!
So true! Merry Christmas and Happy Trails!
Darn Tough socks for the win.
Yes, it can also be the stuffing sock - double duty.

Both of those items in a Christmas stocking would bring a smile to an older hiker, or younger. Thanks for the suggestions.
"Labordoodle booties" ok that was funny
Yes, thank you for enduring my twisted sense of humor.
8:11 I've got a colonoscopy next Monday. I'm looking forward to telling the youngsters all about it.
They’ll love you for it! Hope it all goes well, seriously.

@@akwild1 you guys are truly keeping the love of thru hiking going for us older folks! The AZT would be amazing!
@@maureenobryan6141 You’re a shining light, especially, Maureen. I’m hoping to keep going until I drop.
Thanks for the gift ideas! I need a couple of these for myself, too.
It’s okay to give yourself Christmas gifts. Just act surprised when you get them. That’s what I do.

Thank you excellent idea. I also fill my empty Nunn bottle with instant coffee. It cuts down on the trash. Thanks for your ideas.
I precut different size and length strips and stick them to a small strip of parchment paper then roll it up and it sits ready in my FKA
@ nice way to preserve their integrity and keep them from weakening due to UV damage. Thanks for sharing.
Some good stuff there. I would like to get a flextail pump, that would be handy.
Hi Brad, I used mine on the CT. I liked it especially at the higher elevations when I was winded after a long day and needed an assist.
Great suggestions, thank you
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Great fun. How about a cork massage ball? It might keep the griping down to a dull roar, or possibly an opportunity to review all the aches and pains.
I like it! Yes, it might relieve pain and give us back some energy so we can complain more!
small Swiss army knife with scissor is great for nose hairs.
Absolutely, although giant nose hairs do scare off the bears.

Ramon, great to hear from you again. I hope all is well and your hikes are continuing. Merry Christmas to you, too!
I love you brother! That was a great video! FYI - I’m booked for May 9th on the PCT. I hope I can push that date up a bit.

How about a pair of gaitors?
Sure thing. Especially for winter hiking or dirty desert treks.
I'm a fan of the simblissity levagaiter.
When is the next long adventure hike?! (oh, it's "sa-wa-row," silent G - sorry that's the grammarian in me!)
Thanks for the phonics lesson. Kind of like Ptarmigan I suppose. Pondering the Arizona Trail. I’m getting the itch.
🤔🤔
