League of Legends is constantly adding new champions or reworking old ones. However, not every release goes as planned or is well received by the player base. Instead, sometimes a new champion release completely breaks the game or sends players into an angry frenzy for one reason or another.
Today we take a look at some the worst champion releases in game.

most people just really hate how Seraphine is not potrayed as a person from our world who somehow made their Runeterra, but is actually SOMEHOW DESPITE MANY DESIGN FLAWS ALLROUND made out to be a Piltoverian citizen, who somehow became a singer. Well that and the K/DA marketing character. + her character just feels like one of those straight annoying Instagram glued girls, who need to tell everyone about their life and how it is "so terrible". Then... the lore rework.... the only thing I liked about her was the idea of Serraphine knowingly using crystals containing remnant souls of skarners kind, but they changed that sadly, so yeah nothing likable. She is just a uglier bratty version of Sona to me

Another big factor with the Seraphine backlash was the fact that she had an ultimate skin for a release skin. Said ultimate skin was also just a bundle of 1860 skins...
And they said Ultimate skins were supposed to be special, kinda didn't feel that way ever since Lux

This, even though I play Seraphine quite a lot. I absolutely hate that her Ultimate skin and her appearance in K/DA was designed first, while she was just follow up.

@@imveryanxious I agree, Lux's elementalist skin I still perceive as the best because of how you have so many different variations. Maybe not enough to be completely different for 1000 games, but still amazing nonetheless.

Another big problem with Seraphine is that she was pretty much forced into League’s lore and simply didn’t fit

I mean, a lot of characters “don’t fit” particularly well (ie Anubis and that one Minotaur, let alone Corki). Why wouldn’t Piltover have pop stars? And bards have long been a fantasy archetype tying music to magic. This “she doesn’t fit” thing just seems to be an excuse that people use because they don’t like her aesthetic.

they made more sense, had more character and told great stories (tho corki excluded), seraphines lore is just some girl, who can hear the brackerns (skarners race), and doesnt do anything to try so save them, because she just wanted to be famous
she is a definition of a braindead character design, a lore that was so forced it would have been better if she had no lore, they but everything on her K/DA, while completely ignoring the actual world building
the reason i see people complaining the most is that Seraphine was not a champion, it was a 3250 RP skin that required you tu have another Sona to use
she was thought out to be a legendary KDA first, and a champion second
She REALLY needs an asu 😅 I’d probably go in the direction of making the brackern in seraphines stage it’s own character that can shift between the stage and a mechanical brackern form. Seraphine and her brackern should have been FRIENDS not master and pet

Another thing to remember is that, in Seraphine's official lore, she learns of genocide and decides to use that genocide to her advantage. The character is by far the worst written one in the game, and it's clear how much of the effort budget went to her K/DA skin as opposed to Seraphine herself.
She would've been amazing as a twist villain in light of that aspect of her lore though.
Even as a very naive and guillble girl, thinking she is doing good in Zaun , but in reality she is only benefitting the rich piltoverians producing her and she doesn't see how miserable Zaun really is.
There was a lot of potential, but it got wasted.

I thino her being revealed as a twist villain would be one of the ONLY ways people would see better of her in-lore. That or revamping sliiiightly her lore to make her act as an actual creative and naive girl that just wants to help. Cause her current lore is just "if azir was a popstar"
Seraphine also drew ire from Skarner enthusiasts. The Skarner subreddit at the time was filled with posts from mains coming from other subreddits to unite against Seraphine and bash her into the ground.

Yeah because she was released out of the blue and doesnt have any really unique mechanics that wouldve made her hype. She is also an engage support, a role thats very hard to make interesting since most of them do the exact same thing in different ways

I remember the day Yasuoh was released, it quickly became a meme on the game of how bad it's players were all while they though they were pros, it was for the longest time the most repulsive champion on the entire game.
Then, Seraphine came around, and show us that Yasuoh's shitshow was a tea party compared to what she was packing
I mean, she serves solely to be part of KDA... and that's pretty much it, the rest of the crew were molded to fit into the skin line, but she can't be separated from it

I'm not even suprised that Rell isn't in this video, she was forgoten on her release, at least A sol and Skarner are in mind of people as chapms that noone plays.
I like playing seraphine, but everything about her lore and in-game voice lines are so annoying. I think it would’ve been so cool if she was written as a lunari songstress or something and could do something cool against the solari or something like that. And it would’ve been nice if she didn’t get an ultimate skin on release. There’s so many other champs that deserve an ultimate skin
She needed to have some other angle than just Piltovan "popstar". She could've still be a singer, but anything else.
I personally think she should've been the first "good" Solari since Leona. Would work great as a young, idealist priestess. Same basic premise, but give her the KDA softness over the blind blandness.
But she actually does,Riot has this story and says..I think it was not on her lore not sure..But I think it was like a "next chapter" kind of about her..Basically as you said..she could be a good solari/Lunari..She is doing that exact same on Piltover and Zaun..She wants to bring Zaun And Piltover together with her actions and she also has voice lines for it If I'm not wrong..
Also I don't disagree about getting an ultimate at the first day,I don't know if any other champ got a legendary on release but..
It actually makes sense and I swear it was the perfect opportunity to release that..because listen.
-First form : Indie (Which means she starts from home and tries)
-Second form : Let's say "Famous TH-camr" (She even says like and subscribe to keep up or something like that on her recall)
Basically she has her own small studio.
-Third Form : Now above everything else she became an actual "famous star" so in our case..KDA. xD

All the little things abt seraphine that didnt feel carefully considered upon release essentially added up to "a champion that felt like it was just used for marketing". She had
- an ultimate skin upon release that unconventionally could not change in game
- a pretty visual design that did not match the rest of the game
- a canon story that accidentally made her seem heartless, which then was hotfixed but not very effectively
- a non canon kda story that made her reach fame seemingly by luck
- a fake social media account that had a virtual character share emotions on a sensitive topic
- lazy game design that brought nothing new to the table. Her passive (sona), Q (neeko), W (sona), E (neeko), and R (sona) were all very close to a preexisting champion. Not to mention that data miners for wild rift literally read her abilities and thought they were Sona's
Basically this made it feel like the developers valued her more as a marketing asset rather than a new addition to their game and universe
There is literally no champion that can extend their ult by hitting a enemy or an ally, no champ that buffs slows into roots into stuns, no champ that can repeat the same hability in the same cast, she actually brings new stuff to the table but you hate her so much that you don't even know it. Base champ is not that bad, there are worse.
Only terrible thing is all the skin related stuff.

I find this very hypocritical since Kai'sa is a very played champion and has commited almost the same crimes that Seraphine did, but no one talks about her and no one hates her, who knows why right?
@@pinkpaesh3474 oh yeah dont get me wrong. some of Riot's recent champs have not been my favorite thus far because every adc has a dash and why the fuck does samira have both yasuo's wind wall and katarina's ultimate. and oh my god don't get me started on kai'sa, her design is an absolute disaster. I've seen Skyren's rant on it and i entirely agree. why does every female champion have to be a hot babe and goodness do i not want to be represented that way anymore in media.
but knowing that, does that make seraphine any better still? no. for me, the fact that riot should be aware of these issues at this point made the fact that they advertised it instead now just so much more worse. but at the very least, seraphine had awesome music and like a generally well-intended message so that is why i appreciate her above others especially kai'sa.

And "oh but no one else is hating on so and such champions for the same reasons" but it seems you are so blinded by the fact that your beloved seraphine is being criticized that you fail to see that there actually had been a lot of criticism and hate out there for plenty of other champions? people are still complaining and hating on yasuo and yi and teemo. and kayle's redesign into spandex instead armor is really fucking stupid. just because seraphine is added to the list all of a sudden she needs a knight and shining armor to defend her Honour?
not to say that there aren't haters on seraphine out there because sure there is. but apparently an observation on what went wrong with seraphines development all of a sudden becomes a hate crime. had i said the same thing about yasuo or yi you wouldn't have blinked an eye. just because you feel salty that some real criticism has shown up admist the vast hate out there doesn't mean no criticism can be accepted. i can still like seraphine and be like 'yeah no they really fucked up on her delivery' and still be disappointed in samira for being unoriginal af. i see nothing wrong in owning up to both

And I am also well aware that she has a lot of flaws, but for champions that are the same, it does not feel fair yk. I'm not trying to be disrespectful or anything, but you should just not complain about base skin, is not bad, like if we are going to be complaining about base skin (lore, design, kit, etc) then I can compare it to others that are the same or worse and you should be taking it as you want me to take it. The real issue here is the skin even though Kai'sa's second skin was K/DA and guess who else has a "digital band" skin, Viego, which is similar, not the same, Seraphine skin marketing was in not cuantificable ways worse, but still gives off the same vibes. SO would you agree that in conclusion, Seraphine hate issues are in no way justificable, and we should focus on constructive opinions, and be more objective? this video talks about 5 champions, and like 80% of comments are about seraphine's issues, like is triggering to see how much people dislike her base desing without even giving her a try and understanding what she's about. LIKE no one is forcing you to buy the skin so just don't.

There literally a war going on in every single place. how the fuck are they going to fit a fucking happy go lucky popstar wannabe teenager on this shit? And the answer is either "she does not" or "she is not relevant" depending on who you ask (i actually think it's both!)
I think an honorable mention would be Aatrox for just how god awful he was for so long until he was finally good with the new season changes....and then got reworked into a wannabe riven not at all resembling what his old champion use to be which.
The revive was the sole surviving piece from old Aatrox that kept him as what he used to be, until Riot also removed that because it was too OP?
Oh, what's that? A marksman who can revive teammates who have died to the enemy? Keep that in the game.

@@Joker-rm7ko It's either remove the revive or HEAVILY nerf the healing he has because he's often times barely killable as is, with his revive he would be outright broken. I personally think the strong healing is literally the stronger part of the two and keeping that over the revive whenever he gets to use his ult was the better choice for his usefulness
Renektons shadow nerf on his release was one of the biggest controversies back in old league I remember they nerfed him without telling anyone when moving him from pbe to main game so when everyone spent there lp or rp on him and got his skin and went to play him he was so underpowered that the fan base freaked out

A game of 12+ years, grown so massive to be the most popular e-sports game is enforcing a system like a backwards third world country.

i like the gameplay of Seraphine, but her lore and the way they implemented her into the game
i agree with you i used her a lot on Mid. Rarely on Support she's a good champion. the lore may need an extra story with plot twist
Asol is one of the saddest one because of his Wild Rift release being a literal recreation of the PC release.
No one knew how to play him only to be OP after a month of the game being public then being nerfed to the ground

I still remember that one game that I had where my support hovered Seraphine, and I banned that champion because I hate her to guts, but then, I kid you not, all of my team ran it down top.
Apparently all 4 of them were in a party together as they kept flaming me, the enemy team had to ff15 out of pity from the hell hole that was this game.
In the end, I won with 4 instant feedback reports.
The hate for Seraphine being so strong that the enemy team is willing to pass on a free game. XD That is beautiful.

I think it’s funny that during Release Seraphine, everyone was hating on her.
But they were also the same ones abusing her during the Moonstaff Seraphine meta like a month after.
Imagine being able to hear the sufferings of Brackerns while being aware of the fact that their souls are trapped within the crystals that power Piltover. Imagine hearing them, then deciding “I wanna create a song out of their voices(suffering, pain, endless misery)" instead of doing something for the Brackerns themselves.
Another fun thing with Tahm Kench: on release he was bugged and could kill allies, gaining gold for killing them

I personnally liked séraphine and got super excited when they anounced her, a musical midlaner whith a design that i liked
But
Her kit isnt adapted to mid and they turned her into another egirl support and that what disgusted me from her and that make me rly sad
She rly do need a mini rework where they give her a better kit adapted to midlane and remove that shitty shield/heal
i thought she was interesting at first as well but her kit is so unbelievably basic it's unreal. her Q is a downgraded neeko Q, her W is a basic shield, her E is a very basic skillshot with a slow, and her R is just a wider E, though it is admittedly more unique. her passive is the only thing that makes her kit viable which is not very good character design. on the other hand, she got an ultimate skin (3 different KDA skins) on release and doesn't even fit into the lore. riot very clearly built her specifically for KDA and/or marketing and didn't care about the champ at all.
edit: just clarifying that i don't think that these things make her bad, i just mean that little to no effort was put into the thought of her character, instead they just took abilities from sona and neeko, changed them slightly, and threw her into K/DA for marketing

And not to mention these three skins have the same concept as her base: a popstar. Imagine paying so much just to get a fancier version of the base skin

If Riot made another music based champion, many people will still say its a sona/seraphine copy paste, because all league players can do is complain about champ design.

If they made a music champ with a guitar but made him into a Bruiser Top Laner there will be no comparison because there's no way Rito could fuck up that badly as to accidentally a Bruiser's kit similar to two supports.

I like Seraphine's in-game because I'm mostly supp but I cannot really unsee the similarities between Sona.
And at the start I like to hype for her, her socmedia teaser, songs, etc. even they says the lore is trash because she's just a voice (I even think that there would be some big plot twist that she has powers like Sona) but recently someone said that those game abilities are not lorewise like for example if Arcane is canon, Heim uses turret in-game where Heim in Arcane doesn't even use hextech because is dangerous.

I'm surprise no timer option is in the options menu, would help new players a lot (or at least give us a better sense of time) that you can simply turn off if it's too distracting ( I can imagine someone just trying to check the map for enemies or everyone's situation and being hit by timers...).

He wasent banned because being toxic in chat is far worse since there's no option to disable chat or mute a person this is more important than people ruining the entire game and making someone waste 30 minuets for no reason.
In my opinion, Seraphine also "killed" KDA. She did not fit in the group as she does not possess the swag other members have, and her vibe is not unique as Ahri's is quite similar. I guess it could work out if she was just a guest in one song, or she just formed another group with others like Lux and their group was the rival of KDA.
Disclaimer: I play Seraphine coz she is easy to play and I am noob. I am just sad because I expect there will be no more lit songs like popstars and baddest in the future of kda.

I swear I think I've played an URF game with the Anivia user from the Tahm Kench segment! They kept walling us to trap us with enemies and kept walling us in our fountain until we were able to flash out!

I think one champ they forgot to nerf is Volibear. Who came out 2011 DX, I'm sorry to any volibear mains. But that champ is absoutely broken and I mean it. Once he hits like level 6, he can fully dive a turret without taking much damage + his shield. I always thought this character was overlooked on some things and he can use a nerf.

Seraphine is Sona V2 (or Sona if she got a decent rework), she was a marketing product, they literally made her 30 dollars KDA skin before thinking of her as a champion so she'll never fit in Runeterra, oh and her amazing lore on release where she was just an egoistical little girl who was very self-centered and wanted to sing using some part of a being who was killed and asked her some help which she refused. Yuumi was a nightmare for her gameplay, Seraphine is a nightmare for everything she is and everything she has.

As a Skarner player, I hate that he's been consigned to be an ult bot. Build him to be a bruiser, and he can 1v1 anyone with ease. I've been able to kill a Vayne while at half health, and her question how I did so much damage. I'm really apprehensive about the rework, since I'm still a fan of the old Skarner where his Q slowed, and I hope that they don't change his theme into "something modern" as they put it
Don't worry, skarner will have a dash every 0.5 sec
Since riot is so big on the music industry. Ex: Multiple music videos, entire band with multiple albums, 2 champions based on sound, +150 champions with unique choreography.

What happened witrh Viego exactly like what happened with The Morrigan in SMITE. The Morrigan was a god released back in 2017 that had this same idea where she could transform into any god in the match for awhile. She was banned from tournaments for a long time because of all the bugs.

The only thing I hate about Seraphine is the fact that shes floating on that stupid thing instead of walking on her own.
They really need to update/rework sera's lore. Keep the music idol stuff but the LORE needs to CHANGE. Give her more back story when she was in Zaun. She is also related to ONE character, which is skarner cause of his kind. But that's not good cause she uses her brackern hearing for the people of piltover.... like what? Have her use her hearing of souls for better use than just inspiration for music... there is so much they can do with her lore but won't do it. Reteta does mention that seraphine is so-called a "traitor" which I'm confused by because sera were born in piltover and not zaun but as zaun parents. but that's all I'm gonna say in this comment lol.
It's kinda funny yet sad that Skarner is somehow involved in the reasons for the three worst champions to be what they are, even if he only was on the third one.
what really sucks about the tahm kench situation is that he was probably one of my favorite characters to play, and i mean play as an actual support (which he was and always will be in my heart)
but they had to rework him and ruin all the fun you had with just running around being extremely tanky and saving ur allies, even though you got flamed constantly even while helping since they dont know that tahm can do anything but troll
