One day I plan on having a more proper setup for this. But right now the old filing cabinet and wood block work enough for me. Just sucked in the winter time when it froze my hands picking up gel out of a foot of snow
I'd like to see you do these with clothing barrier test in gel. I have same ammo and they expanded well with water jugs until I put some rolled old jeans in front of the jugs some expanded most didn't.likr to see how they do with cloth barrier in gel.
@@raysbudgetslowmo Winchester's history when it comes to identifying their loads is totally awful. So this is the PDX1 projectile that is also the RA9B that was also in their train & defend combo package before they discontinued that?
From what I could find is yes, the pdx1 is the same as the ra9b. Ra9b being tied to the ranger series of winchesters LE line of ammo. RA9T is the same bullet but is not bonded. Though confusion is raised at the rebranding winchester did around 2009. There were some long dead links showing DOJ testing. Maybe someone somewhere out there archived those documents. With over 10+ years im sure something could have changed
I did the testing today and gathered interesting results. Due to my limited block count, I could only take 3 shots before risking channel crossing. The results should be cross-referenced as with any other test, but I had 1 failure to expand and 2 others open up. I did 2 shots from a compact barrel and one from a full sized barrel.
Don't worry, I stopped off at my local store yesterday and saw that prices seem to vary month by month. Even at $30 they are still within the "standard" defensive pricing range. And they work just as well if not better than a lot of the quote "premium" expanding ammo
@@raysbudgetslowmo true indeed. They don’t disappoint. I’ve also noticed a lot of ppl say the same. I forgot what the red tips are called but they were supposedly around the same price
@kendtchileninjah5905 I believe those are called "Ready" or "USA Ready". I've seen them a couple of times but Hornady critical defense takes most of the shelf priority in the polymer tipped category. Never personally tried either so I can't say anything yet about them.
Somebody please restore the Charger in the background.
Dude paid $20 for a box of 20. I just got the same ammo today at $35 for a box of 20
Thanks for the video. I hope to see more when you get a cleaner block and a table. The 2x4 works till it didn't lol. 😂

I'll have to try that. I'm sure I can find a pair of jeans that I don't fit in anymore around here somewhere.

I made a new block in spec. If weather permits and I hope it will I'll do this test tomorrow and plan to have it up Monday
