- Deborah Elms, head of trade policy at the Hinrich Foundation, discusses U.S. President Joe Biden's push to triple tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum.
This is the US political trend now. Voters not interested to question their presidential candidates what they can do for them to improve the lives of Americans. But instead, they prefer to elect someone who likes to talk about China this, China that all the time even without any supporting facts. Again, voters just love this kind of BS.
That begs the question on the competency of the voters does it not?
That is reasonable why I never vote.
This is indeed the pathetic reality of the US capable of.
Chinese made toilet paper rolls will be a national security threat soon 😂😂😂
100%
😂
This woman should be our POTUS. She might be the only adult in the room
Tariffs are paid by the importers (US) not the exporters (China). And the money collected goes to the US Treasury Department. So actually, this is just another way to tax Americans more.
everything in the US is about election, not about the lives of the people.
This is just what happens when an empire is on its last legs.
America has gone mad beyond extrication.
America is on the decline 😂
Only cowards will use lousy reasons to ban other country's products
And steel prices will go up accordingly
I wonder which country actually buys steel from the US. Putting a tariff on China just telling everyone that US steel costs more to produce than from China.
Sometimes I wonder why US goods always costing so much while goods made in China is more affordable. People been ripped off by the US corporations.
There are tariff on ALL foreign steel because the entire world knows how to make it cheaper.
@@davidwong5197 The entire world is burning coal while U.S. Taxpayers are forced to hand over their wealth to a corrupt government and it's connected "clean energy" parasites. 😕
while majority the Americans are on the verge of poverty due to soul crashing inflation, the government is making goods even more expensive for consumers.
America has gone kookoo
America also ban Chinese rare earth minerals as they're a serious threat to national security. 😂😂😂😂
I like to see them try😂
😂HAHAHA. That would be REAL MADNESS ....it's crazy now...but RARE EARTH METALS???
More terrif means more inflation which means more interest hikes.
Trump has already said he plans to impose 10% tariffs across the board. If you thought inflation was bad before, just wait. They'll be raising interest rates forever, to the moon.
USA love cheap low tech Chinese products but cheap high tech products is not allow.
Every issue is a political football. It's all theater for domestic consumption.
Well said, thank you for pointing out key facts. Hopefully more will be made awared of the danger and not sleep walk into an unwarranted avoidable war. Choose peace.
Less than 1% steel and alum exported to US last year.
She is clear
Inflation time
Can you have someone normal? Why everone soo old? Aren't you a democracy?
Blame it on their voters for electing old man for president. That's probably why this country is a mess.
Democracy doesn't work when you have stupid and uninformed people. Lol. Even the Greeks knew that.
playing a childish game in an adult world!
Higher tariffs mean higher taxes for the people!
Not just tax. US Steel can now raise prices as well.
US does not import ships from China. Ships are registered in Panama.
Wouldn't surprise me if his boy ends up with a good paying job at Nippon. Probably won't even have to clock in.
@1:45 that steely eyed pun/ humor got me laughing
US is a dirty player when it comes to competition.
Its not an irony, its looser's hypocracy. 😂😂
If the workers believe that tariff on one percent of the steel imports can save tgeir jobs, it is wishful thinking
Who will pay extra tarrif on imports? Not China surely.
Let's analyze the logic here...
"I will impose tariffs so that they will later sell me more expensive products because I imposed tariffs on them"
it's great...
In the world trade organization, the rules of the free market were established, but now you want to break them because you are no longer the only one who benefits...
👍👍‼️🇧🇷🇷🇺🇮🇳🇨🇳🇿🇦➕️‼️👏👏
It is ok, cost in America will continue to rise fanning the inflation to an even higher level.
Complaining about Trump tariffs during election, then endorse it and add more after in the office. Typical it is not ok for you to do it, but it is ok if I do it. 😂😂
US economic suicide again, u don't tax primary good that are used for manufacturing as that make your manufacturing less competitive. you want to build ship, guess what? you need cheap steel to turn a profit...
🤡🤡🤡
as a Chinese i Dou lf say fo business or not is one's right. Not a big deal
China!
Lol. Politicians on both sides are trash.
