There are a couple of reasons why Neville deserves to kill the last horcrux. First, he, like Harry, lost both of his parents to Voldemort's evil; some might say it was almost worse because Neville's parents didn't actually die. He spent his whole life having to visit his parents in St. Mungos hospital. They were alive, but completely unresponsive, not even knowing their son was visiting them. Second, the prophecy from The Order of the Phoenix was about either Neville or Harry. Both boys were born around the same time and Voldemort attacked Harry and his family because their secret keeper, Peter Pettigrew gave them up. It was that attack that freed Neville from being the chosen one instead of Harry. Finally, all of the main characters had already destroyed a horcrux: Harry-the book, Dumbledore-the ring, Ron-the necklace, Hermione-the challis, Harry again-the diadem, Voldemort-Harry, and finally, Neville-Nagini, the snake. Only Harry destroyed more than one of the horcruxes. So Neville absolutely deserved to kill a horcrux.

It was not the stone that brought Harry back, remember the stone can't bring anyone back fully from the dead it's just their ghostly form. At the time when Malfoy's mother said that Harry was dead she knew that Harry was actually alive, she lied because she knew the only way that they could get into Hogwarts was if Voldemort was basically doing his victory tour into Hogwarts. He would only do that once Harry was dead

Before the battle started at Hogwarts, in the book they had all of the students that were under the age of 17 evacuated to safety. Anyone who was 17 or over who wanted to stay was welcome to, all Slytherin was evacuated none of them wanted to stay. A couple of ravenclaws stayed, a handful of Gryffindor state, and half of Hufflepuff stayed to fight

My rough estimate turned out to be less than 70 people. Dumbledore's army (28), Order of the Phoenix (9ish with Percy), at least 4 professors and only 6th and 7th year students could stay and fight.
Oh. Also Firenze (the centaur who was splitting teaching Divination with Trelawney), Hagrid, Grawp, the house elves and the thestrals.
Further help came later when Charlie Weasley showed up with parents of students and other alumni, Slughorn led the Hogsmeade villagers and the centaurs from the forest joined in.

Oh, man.... seeing Fred lying on the floor in the Great Hall dead is heartbreaking, especially seeing Ron break down in tears. (Hearing that Harry had to sacrifice himself to give them a chance of defeating Voldemort and the Death Eaters didn't help that grief.) Also, I was at the midnight premiere of The Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 3D. The scene where Mrs. Weasley took out Bellatrix got a massive cheer from the audience.
6 points I've made in the past regarding Harry Potter:
    1. The prophecy Professor Dumbledore mentioned in Professor Snape's memory that mentioned a baby born at the end of July was partially true. There were actually two: Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. They were born in the same month and year, but Neville is only 1 day older than Harry. (Neville: 30 July 1980, Harry: 31 July 1980.) Voldemort had chosen to target a then 15-month-old Harry, thus marking him as his equal. Neville lived a life free of that fear with his grandmother, despite the constant painful reminder of his parents being permanently admitted to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after being tortured into insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange.
    2. After the Battle For Hogwarts, George Weasley could never cast the Patronus Charm again, since it relies on your happiest memory to work, and literally ALL of his happy memories involved his deceased twin brother Fred. Most likely for a while, until he married Angelina Johnson and named his son after his twin. (According to The Wizarding World website)
    3. Voldemort's death after his battle with Harry wasn't supposed to look like he got snapped out by Thanos, and it wasn't just them isolated in the courtyard.
In the book, Harry and Voldemort battle for the last time in front of everyone else, resulting in Voldemort dying as a mortal man once Neville sliced off Nagini's head, effectively saving Ron & Hermione in the process.
    4. Harry didn't snap the Elder Wand in the book version. He mends his original wand (the one he got in Philosopher's Stone from Ollivander's) with it, then returns it to Professor Dumbledore's grave.
    5. I give HUGE props to Narcissa for straight-up lying to Voldemort after Harry confirmed that Draco was alive. It shows that neither she nor her son wanted the Death Eater life.
    6. That one goblin who stared in shock as the Ukrainian Ironbelly burst through the floor of Gringotts seriously looked a bit like Donald Trump. 😆🤣

So we find out in the book that Neville could have very well have been the chosen one if Voldemort picked him. Instead Voldemort picked Harry as his adversary and made Harry the chosen one. Both Harry and Neville were born on the last day of July both of their parents divide Voldemort three times. In the book when Neville was giving his little speech when he pulled out the sword that's when the snake jumped towards him and he took the head off it was before Harry fully revealed himself. It was actually during that time of the confusion when Harry broke away unseen underneath his invisibility cloak, he only revealed himself after he protected Molly Weasley from being harmed from Voldemort after she took out Bellatrix.

Here to clear some stuff up! This is going to be long, sorry about that:
    1. The prophecy that Harry finds in the Order of the Phoenix didn't actually refer to Harry at all. It referred to a boy born at the end of July, who Voldemort would mark as his equal, and thus give the boy the power to defeat him. This prophecy was applicable to two boys: Harry (born 31 July 1980) and Neville (born 30 July 1980). Voldemort only heard one part of the prophecy (about the boy being born at the end of July) and didn't get to hear the part about 'giving the boy the power to defeat him', and jumped to conclusions. He chose Harry at the end because both Harry and Voldemort were half-bloods, as Neville came from a pure-blood family. This choice forced the prophecy to be about Harry, but it very easily could have been Neville too. As it is, Neville had to live without both of his parents too, courtesy of Bellatrix, so his life sort of mirrors Harry. That's why the author gave the honour of killing the last horcrux (the snake) to Neville, instead of Ron or Hermione. Lots of things here are symbolic!
    2. The Weasleys only lost one son, Fred. In the books, Harry does witness his death, so we do too. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, and Percy Weasley (the prefect brother from the first 3 movies) all run into each other while battling Death Eaters in the castle. There's some sort of explosion which kills Fred (been a while since I read the book, so I don't exactly remember how), and Harry and Hermione have to physically restrain Ron from running after the Death Eater responsible for the explosion.
    3. I don't know if you remember the 'fight' between Sirius Black and Mrs. Weasley in the Order of the Phoenix movie, regarding how much Harry should know about the Order. In the books, it's much more drawn out, to the point where Mrs. Weasley feels almost guilty at the end when Sirius dies at the hands of Bellatrix. Mrs. Weasley killing Bellatrix was supposed to be her way of apologizing to Sirius and getting her revenge for Fred's death as well. Another note, it's mentioned several times that Mrs. Weasley really wanted a daughter by the time Ron came along, so Ginny was her miracle baby, the daughter she'd been waiting for so long. That's why she says, "Not my daughter, you b*tch" when she duels Bellatrix. She's lost a boy already, but she couldn't bear to lose her daughter too. It's a bunch of reasons there :)
    4. The dead couple Harry saw in the Great Hall were Remus Lupin (the teacher who taught him the Patronus spell), and Tonks (the girl from the fifth movie who could change her hair colour and facial features). They actually had a baby boy named Teddy Lupin right before the battle and leave him orphaned :( but Harry becomes his godfather and helps to raise him. This is supposed to signify the circular nature of war (Sirius being godfather to orphaned Harry; Harry becoming a godfather to orphaned Teddy).
    5. In the Forbidden Forest, when Narcissa checks if Harry's alive or not, he does move, you're correct. He actually confirms to Narcissa that yes, Draco is alive, and yes, he's in the castle. Narcissa hears him and lies to Voldemort about Harry being dead. At that point, it's clear that she doesn't care about whether Voldemort wins or not, she just wanted to find Draco and get out of there.
It's always interesting to see the different viewpoints and interpretations of a series that shaped my childhood, so well done guys!

The Resurrection Stone only brings back loved ones as ghosts. That is why one of the three brothers in the Deathly Hallows story committed suicide. He couldn't be with the one who lived in the way he wanted to. She was still dead.
That was thing with the gifts that Death gave to the Three Brothers when they outsmarted Death. All the gifts had a catch to them. So in the end Death was the one to outsmart everyone and won in the end.

According to JK Rowling the author of Harry Potter, Harry and Ron decided to not finish school and instead became Aurors (dark wizard catchers like Mad Eye Moody) at the Ministry of Magic. After several years Ron retires from his job at the Ministry and went to work with George Weasley at the joke shop to help him out. Harry eventually became Head of Auror Office and Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
Hermione did go back to Hogwarts after the Battle to finish school and graduated. At one point she went to look for her parents and returned their memories. Later after she graduated she started working at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic and helped to create laws to protect and improve the lives of sentient magical creatures like house elves, goblins and centaurs to name a few. Much later Hermione eventually became Minister of Magic.
Neville Longbottom became the new Herbology professor at Hogwarts and marries the Hufflepuff student Hannah Abbott who is the grandchild of the owner of The Leaky Cauldron.
Luna became a Magizoologist and married Newt Scamander's (the fictional author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find) grandson, Rolf Scamander. Together they travel the world looking for rare magical beasts.
Professor McGonagall became the new Hogwarts headmistress.
Before Ginny married Harry she became a professional Quidditch player. After she retired she started writing sports articles for the Daily Prophet wizarding newspaper.
Harry and Ginny had three kids together. If I recall the names right, the eldest son was named James Sirius. The second born is Albus Severus. And the youngest child is Lily Luna. Harry is the godfather to Remus and Tonks' son, Teddy Lupin and made sure he was well provided for.
Ron and Hermione's children is Rose and Hugo.
Draco's child is Scorpius Malfoy. Lucius Malfoy again got away scot free with his crimes as a Deatheater like he did after the first war when Harry was a baby where he convinced the Ministry that he was forced to do what he did. Draco got a job at the Ministry and remained on friendly and respectful terms with Harry after the Battle of Hogwarts.
Umbridge was sent to Azkaban for her crimes.
Hagrid remained a professor at Hogwarts but never married.
George Weasley married Angelina Johnson who had been Fred Weasley's date for the Yule Ball in Goblet of Fire.
Harry and Dudly remained on friendly terms and stayed in touch with each other to the point that they even would send each other Christmas cards every year.
Harry, Ron and Hermione in time were each later featured on Chocolate Frog Cards.
There are more stories like that that can be read in the Wizarding World website and also found in documentaries with JK Rowling where she goes into family tree details after the Battle of Hogwarts.

You know, Harry's invisibility cloak was never said to be one of the three deathly hollows in the movies, it is one of them, but they just never clarified that in the movies (just in the books).
Also, while Harry did break the Elder Wand in the movies, he didn't do that in the books. In the books, he actually put it back in Dumbledor's grave, and while that is sweet, I think the ending in the movies made more sense. Because if Harry is ever killed, or even disarmed, by another wizard they will be the new master of the Elder Wand (so breaking it makes more sense to me).
I also just wanted to mention how Harry came back to life, because the movies weren't that clear about it. When Harry was a baby, and Voldemort killed his parents, because Voldemort's soul was so weak from all the horcruxes he made (after splitting it up to make all of his horcrux's), when the killing curse rebounded and hit him, a piece of his soul detached itself from his body and went for the only living thing it could find (that being Harry). And while this did make Harry a horcrux, normally to make a one you have to, not only kill someone to split your soul into a separate piece apart from the main piece of your soul, but you have to also take one of those pieces and put it inside an object or living creature using some kind of dark magic (and the author J.k. Rowling has refused to say what magic this is because she has said it's too horrible to say). But the night that Voldemort killed Harry's parents, because his mother specifically sacrificed herself for Harry, she (unknowingly and unintentionally) created and placed a powerful (and specific) protection spell on Harry to protect him from Voldemort. That's why the killing curse, basically, bounced of him and hit Voldemort. And in order to make sure this spell didn't ware off over time, Dumbledore placed another specific spell on Harry that would keep his mother's protection alive in him as long as he lived with a blood relative of his mother's, that being his aunt Petunia (and his cousin too, technically). As long as Harry called her home his (and lived with her for a certain amount of time) the protection would live. But this would have gone away once he turned 17, util Voldemort made his new body with Harry's blood. Doing that put the protection inside his blood (Voldemort's), keeping it alive (Voldemort of course didn't know this). Yes, this also canceled out the effects of the protection on Voldemort (meaning he could touch him and cast deadly spells on him without getting hurt himself), but this means that Voldemort is acting, kind of, like a horcrux to Harry, while Harry is also a horcrux to Voldemort. Except, while Harry is keeping Voldemort alive by having a piece of his soul (Voldemort's) inside of him (Harry), Voldemort is also anchoring Harry to life by keeping his mother's protection in his own blood (Voldemort's). And this means once Voldemort killed Harry and that piece of his soul (which he didn't know about still) Harry was given the opportunity to come back to life. And Voldemort still wouldn't be able to kill Harry, he also couldn't still using the Elder Wand because Harry was its true master.

Just a small suggestion, please watch 12:14 onwards in as slow Mo as possible and it will reveal Snape's true intentions. 17:39 This is the last time someone said that Harry was like Voldemort. 33:40 Voldemort is defeated by a mother's love once again. 40:10 In the books Harry uses the elder wand to repair his own holy wand and then replaces the elder wand in Dumbledore's tomb. 43:28 In the books it is implied that the patronus of a given wizard it not fixed. For instance, Tonk's patronus changed after she fell in love with Lupin. So, it is assumed that Snape's partonus was affected by his love for Lily. 46:37 In the books 100s if not 1000s came to Dumbledore's funeral and I am not talking about just witches and wizards but there were creatures ranging from mere people to centaurs. There was a big ceremony in the books. Even Madame Maxime (Bauxbatton headmistress from Goblet of Fire) visited Hogwarts for the day.

Voldemort took harrys blood to resurrect which means Voldemort himself had Lilys protection in him.
What that means is that Voldemort could never harm Harry. By taking Harrys blood he made sure that Lilys protection lives on through him.
That is the reason Harry lived while the horcrux in Harry died when Voldemort tried to kill him in the Forest.
The elder wand also never belonged to Voldemort but it belonged to Harry. The elder wand could never hurt its true owner and that is the reason Voldemort lost the final duel with Harry.
It is explained properly in the books.

I was coming here to say just that too lol. Dumbledore was ingenious in his laying of the foundation for Voldemort's downfall - ensuring Harry's protection growing up as he had a kind of magickal protection that triggered in Petunia and her husband taking Harry into their home. So when he was home with them, despite the fact they were horrible to him, he was protected from Voldemort.

    • @dansharp2860
      @dansharp2860 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

It was the same prophecy it just could have been about either of them. However, it can't be Neville, it can only be Harry. Alice Longbottom doesn't have a Snape to ask the Dark Lord to spare her so Voldemort would have just killed Frank, Alice and little Nev and gone on to win the first war. Neville couldn't be the Chosen One .

    • @Lina_unchained
      @Lina_unchained 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

that's not accurate. It was one prophecy that could have been about either of them, Voldemort assumed it was about Harry, thus he tried to kill Harry and his entire family which is how Harry ended up the chosen one.

    • @Lina_unchained
      @Lina_unchained 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

The Dark Lord didn't spare her. You mean that Alice wouldn't have had a snape to ask Dumbledore to help her, but that's entirely irrelevant she and Frank were members of the order, and it is unlikely that Dumbledore wouldn't have known it could be either child as he knew when both kids were born. The only thing Snape's warning served to do was to CONFIRM which kid Voldemort thought it was and would go after and give them more time to hide which didn't end up working so well. It could have been Neville. There is absolutely no reason it couldn't have been. Having the protections around the Potter house only served to slow down Voldemort, but once he was in (post Pettigrew betrayal), the Potters were in the exact same position they'd have been in if they had had no protection which is what Frank and Alice would likely have had. It is absurd to believe Alice and Frank would have just laid down and died if they had been the ones at risk, especially when they survived what they did at the hands of the Death Eaters. If Voldy had shown up at their house and had come for Neville, Alice would have sacrificed herself just like Lily did, thus bouncing the curse and making Neville the last Horcrux.

    • @dansharp2860
      @dansharp2860 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@Lina_unchained OK. You missed an important part. The blood protection only kicks in because Voldemort offered Lily the choice to stand aside and let him kill Harry. Voldemort only bothers asking because Snape begged him to spare Lily. Without Snape asking Voldemort would have killed Lily the second she was in his sight. The offer and the refusal were what created the magic. No offer, no protection, no Neville.
Without the offer/refusal there would be blood protections popping up everywhere in the WW

It will be weird with other actors at first, but if they pick the right people and do it well, people will probably get used to it.

Keep in mind both Dumbledore and Severus did some questionable things. What you don't know is in the books at the end of The Goblet of Fire book 4 we see Dumbledore happy when he finds out that Voldemort used Harry's blood to bring his body back. The conversation that Dumbledore is having with Severus about how Harry has to die is taking place between book 5 and book 6. At that point Dumbledore believes that Harry has a good chance of being able to come back after being killed. Severus yes where he did go good eventually at a certain point, in the books however we do see him as a big bully especially towards Neville at one point he got happy when he thought he was going to be able to poison his toad trevor. It didn't happen because Hermione helped Neville create the potion correctly so it wouldn't poison his toe. Although Severus decided he was still going to punish them because she helped so he removed points. On top of that service was willing to allow James and Harry to be murdered in order to save Lily, this is also though how Lily's protection worked for Harry. Voldemort gave Lily a choice move out of the way and you'll live stay in front of me and die with your son, because she chose to stay in front of her son that blood protection was formed. He only went to Dumbledore for help to protect the Potters after he realized that Lily would not move out of the way and she would be killed. He had no love for James or Harry he only wanted Lily.

That fire spell was called "Fiendfyre" and was capable of destroying a horcrux, which is what happened. It got burnt on the way out of the room of requirement therefore destroying it. 😢 ok going to spill the story about Dumbledore & his family cuz it's sad AF. Dumbledore's little sister is the girl in the painting. She was r*ped as a little girl and went mad. Dumbledore's Dad went to Azkaban avenging his child & beating their asses with magic. Dumbledore was supposed to take care of his family when his dad was convicted but was way more concerned with chasing boys and the elder wand. Keep in mind his sister was TRAUMATIZED and he's not watching her at all. A tragic event happened due to him feeling himself and his sister died. Aberforth never forgave him. That's what tortured him when he was drinking that poison water. Thoughts of the sister he was supposed to protect. The real person who looked out for Harry the whole time was Severus Snape

Thats why, in 4th book you can read there is a glimpse of triumph in his eyes when Harry tells him Voldemort used his blood to come back. In that moment Dumbledore knew he could save Harry and he was really happy. That's why he said it was essential that Voldemort killed Harry. Because its the only way Harry wouldnt die.

In the books Harry and Neville have birthdays only a day apart so the boy born at the end of July could have been either of them. Only by Voldemort trying to kill Harry is it decided which it is (Voldemort marks him as his equal). So for book readers, Neville killing Nagini is related to that. And Harry didn't "die"--I mean he could have decided, but the horcrux took the hit of the Avada Kadavera curse. Harry was alive when Narcissa checked and asked about Draco. She didn't rat him out because she got the news she wanted.

Neville is important because of the prophecy that applied to Harry also applied to him because they were both born around the same time.
By choosing the Potters, Voldemort made Harry the Chosen One. So, even though Neville is not the chosen one, he's still linked in some way with fate. That's why he wakes up and finds the sword and kills Nagini, the last horcrux, and it seems like a dream, he's essentially being guided by the universe to fulfill his destiny.

He knew Harry had to "die" (to rid him of the horcrux) but believed it would be impermanent, because they planned to change the elder wand's allegiance to Snape. It did change, but to Harry. Dumbledore couldn't share the plan because if Voldemort ever found out, everything might fail. PS M-C forgot how Harry told the Sorting Hat "not Slytherin, not Slytherin". It did accept his choice.

Everyone thinks snaps had this beautiful redemption arc. People literally do “always” themed weddings. I’m pretty baffled by it. Shape NEVER has a moment where he says “hmm. Maybe it’s wrong to be a wizard Nazi who commits genocide against muggles”. His only care is the women he stalked his whole life even tho she loved someone else. He never actually became a better person. He just wanted to help lilys son. He had no issue bullying muggle born people like hermione. And even in his conversations with dumbledore he never said “hey maybe this whole philosophy is worth fighting against”. His motivations were small and selfish until the end. Even tho he did help end the big bad, it wasn’t because he cared about anyone but himself.
Yeah. I know I’ll get hate for it. But it’s true.
Edited to add: there is growth in the PERFORMANCE. But that’s about Alan Rickman being talented and trying to find a way to make his character more well rounded. It’s not about the writing. The way it’s written, there’s no real growth from Snape.

Fun fact: Harry was never truly in danger of dying because he was the rightful owner of all three deathly hallows; Harry’s invisibility cloak is the original invisibility cloak that death gave to the third brother, the elder wand became loyal to Harry after the fight at Malfoy manor, so although he didn’t actually have it, it answered to him and therefore weakened Voldemort’s ability to use it, and finally, the resurrection stone which Harry possessed just before facing Voldemort. As the story goes, whoever wields all three deathly hallows is the master of death, and as such, Harry was the master of Death by the time Voldemort tried to kill him. Bit of fun foreshadowing and lore
Also fun fact: Voldemort was conceived under the influence of a love potion. His mother, Merope Gaunt (a descendant of Salazar Slytherin) was a poor woman who fell in love with an arrogant but handsome muggle named Tom Riddle. Tom Riddle had no interest in Merope and thought her to be disgusting as she was so poor and he came from an wealthy background. Desperately in love with him, Merope made a love potion and managed to get Tom Riddle to drink it, which forced him to love her and have a child with her, which doomed Voldemort from the beginning. A child conceived under the influence of a love potion can never feel love itself, because the love that created it was artificial. As such, Voldemort was incapable of feeling love or empathy, which is why he had sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies a child (which eventually led to him becoming a genocidal maniac). This is why Harry was able to survive the killing curse as a baby (his mother died to save him, leaving an invisible protection from the magic of her pure love) and why Quirell (being possessed by Voldemort) could not touch Harry in the first movie. This kept Harry protected until the end of movie 4, when worm tail uses Harry’s blood to raise Voldemort. Harry’s blood was now a part of Voldemort as well, allowing him to harm Harry despite the protection his mother left.
More voldy lore: When she was almost due to have the baby, Merope thought that it would be safe to stop feeding tom riddle the love potion, thinking that he’d love her of his own accord after having a child. That was not the case, and Tom riddle abandoned a heavily pregnant Merope, who died giving birth to Voldemort. This (along with bullying from the muggle children at the orphanage) fueled Voldemort’s hatred for muggles, eventually becoming the worlds biggest pure blood supremacist (while being a halfblood, at that). Ironic isn’t it? Oh, and then Voldemort murdered his own father and his grandparents as a teen. In fact, they were his first murders, as well as the murders that allowed him to create his first horcrux (in order to create a horcrux and split your soul into pieces, a heinous act of murder must take place
Some extra irony for you: Voldemort’s biggest fear was death. That’s why he made 7 horcruxes (not including Harry himself) - he was trying to become immortal. However, despite his endevour for power, control, and eternal life, Voldemort ultimately dies in the battle of hogwarts by Harry’s hand in his 70’s. So really, Voldemort would’ve probably lived longer if he’d just lived his live like a normal person

I respect your opinions and feelings, but I feel you never took this seriously. Spoken as a Potter head. Read the books several times and seen the movies several times.

I think that's where the difference lies.
We are watching this series as casual viewers. We certainly enjoyed everyting about the franchise, but we don't have the backstory, long history or the book knowledge. Nor did either of us grow up with Harry. Our perspective is from someone who knows absolutely nothing about it. So our reaction is 100% authentic.
Also what you're seeing is how we actually enjoy things. We talk, jest, talk back to the screen, and talk openly about what moves us in that particular moment.

Nymphadora Tonks (Lupine's wife) was not related to the Weasleys. She was actually Serious Black's niece.

Snape's patronus: Snape's patronus is a doe (same as lily's). The fact that Snape is still in love with Lily could likely explain why his Patronus is a doe. Wizards have no authority over their Patronus' appearance, meaning that Snape's subconscious love for Lily is so strong that it controls his Patronus' entire form. That is why Dumbledore is surprise because he did not think that Snape's love for Lily would be this strong after so many years.
Harry coming back to life: There are several reasons to why Harry survived. Harry was a horcrux that Voldemort didn't know of. So when he intended to kill Harry he actually only destroyed the piece of his soul in Harry. Harry was the master of the Elder Wand, which Voldemort didn't know - so he could not kill Harry with the Elder Wand.

🙈I PRAY they do NOT go forward with this series. JK Rowling is NOT George RR Martin or Tolkien. That epilogue Harry Potter book was trash (we moved on from not saying Voldemort to not pretending the 8th book exists). The play based on the 8th book I've heard is badly written and long even though the cast is good. The Harry Potter games are actually really good and fill in a lot of little holes in the universe. I agree with you Michal-Claire... Don't mess up a good thing

I would let them read cursed child just for the sake of getting all of the potterverse. I've watched cursed child play and it was the best piece of theatre I've ever watched in my life and I've watched quite a bit. I think it's worth watching once in a lifetime.

The time turners were ministry of magic property housed specifically in the department of mysteries. Professor mcgonagall had to put in a request for hermione to use one for classes her 3rd year and there were lots of rules about using them hermione had to agree to. Also not shown is that in the 5th book, the department of mysteries is made up of different rooms housing different mysteries. In one of those rooms the ministry is studying time. During the fight with the death eaters at the ministry, all of the time turners are destroyed. Another thing that happens is that one of the death eaters gets his head knocked into a container that’s in the room and his head repeatedly goes from being the head of a baby to growing into the head of an adult. Book 5 is way wilder in the books!

I only just watched part 1 before watching this. Why Ron (not Hermione) had to destroy the locket horcrux; because Ron saved Harry and brought up the sword of Gryffindor from the frozen pond. The sword presents itself to one who is worthy and courageous, and Ron had just proven himself. Hermione could not have wielded the sword. Similarly, the sword presented itself to Neville when he stood up to Voldemort, so Neville could use it on the snake horcrux "Nagini".

The prophecy was that the person who killed Voldemort would be born on July 31... and Harry were born on that date (as was J.K. Rowling, the author). But Neville was born on July 30, and there was always a chance that it would be Neville who killed Voldemort; he and Harry had many similarities in their stories. Voldemort assumed it was Harry, but it could easily have been Neville, and actually, by killing Nagini Neville he did kill a piece of Voldy's soul, because Nagini was a horcrux. There was no way for you to know about the Neville connection without reading the books -- but in the books that part of the prophecy was discussed.

The thing is tho, had Voldemort chosen Neville then the prophecy would have failed. Voldemort only offers Lily the chance to live because Snape asked him to and no one was asking for Alice. Had it been Nev then Voldemort would have killed them all, made his final horcrux believing he was now unkillable and gone on to win the war. Or he would never have found Neville without them having a Peter to betray them. Either way it has to be Harry and cannot be Neville.

Just fyi. “Gypped” is a slur. It means you feel cheated and it’s a slur about Romani (who used to be called “Gypsy” as a derogatory name.) it implies Romani are dishonest grifters. Worth removing from our vocabulary.

As a Slytherin, I’m always offended when we all get lumped together as evil. Like dang, maybe we wanna fight evil, too. LOL. I remember reading the revelation that Harry had to die and I cried immediately. I loved him so much and it was a gut punch. As for Snape… he still trash, but he did some good.

Slytherin was clearly set up in the first few books as the evil/rich/jerk house. Can you name a decent Slytherin, except for Snape, before Slughorn in book 6? I can't think of one.
