    Amazing! I haven't built models since I was a teenager. I want to get back into it. I like that glue with the brush. Any tips on a good starter kit for gear?

    Andy, thx for sharing your builds. I like your videos a lot but somehow it seems to me, that you have to invest way to much water, rubbing and struggling to chip the white or yellow paint off. And when it finally works, it peels in off rather big areas... Do you use the Laquer thinner to thin down the color coat over the hairspray, too? Maybe this might be a reason that the paint won't come off more easily... Did you ever tried to use water to thin down the coat you want to rub off later?

    • @mistrimeat
      @mistrimeat 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      firefishable if you have to scrub hard to remove the top coat of paint, you did it wrong. Either the hairspray has too strong of a hold, or you used lacquer thinner in the top coat. Best to use water to thin. Also, soaking the area on the model you want to chip beforehand helps soften the paint so less effort is required to remove.

    • @firefishable
      @firefishable 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mistrimeat Do you use Tamiya Acrylics in this topcoat (thinned with water) or might it be better to use a water based acrylic paint for this (e.g. Vallejo)?

    • @mistrimeat
      @mistrimeat 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      firefishable yes Tamiya thinned with tap water works perfectly with hairspray. I have never tried it with Vallejo, but I have seen it done with Mission Models paint as well.

    Great build Andy! I don't know if you're into all of the technical terms of German weapons systems, but there's a book called Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII by Chamberlain and Doyle that is marvelous and complete. For instance this gun is called a 15cm sFH 18, which stands for schwere (heavy) Feldhaubitze (field howitzer). But you probably already knew that lol

    Je trouve que l'usage de la colle liquide n'est pas assez précis sur les petites pièces. Ayant été artilleur sur des pièces similaires, je pense que l'optique de pointage aurait dû être peinte de manière plus précise et que les traces d'usure et de frottement pourraient être réalisées de façon plus réaliste. Mais comme jouet pour un enfant de 10 ans ca va très bien. Merci tout de même d'avoir montré cette pièce d'artillerie.

    During my voluntary time in Finnish Army in 1988 we had still these old 15cm SfH 18 howitzers. They were used as a training guns. Those guns were painted Olive green and matt black.

    hello Andy. I just watched your vid building the15cm Howitzer in North Africa. Thanks for the good work and congratulations for the end product. I just would like to comment one thing. Since the gun is in the towing position, as far as I know, the gun barrel would have been locked in a back position. As you depicted it, that is in the firing position.
