I just picked one of these up on a curbside "Free". 20 inch bar and two chains included. I can't wait to dig into it see what is what. Thanks for the video, this one will help. I'll go back through your others.
Thank you Leon your videos are a God send to someone trying to figure out the intricacies of these saws. Thank you for continuing to upload these videos!!!
I just picked up 2 330's for $40 put a carb kit in one and it runs great. Now to tackle the next one. They are not as clean as that one but pretty close.
I just picked one of these uo from a dumpster. Pour gas in carb it starts up. I ordered a carb kit and carburateur boot. I didn't tear into yet just thought these two parts would fix it. If not I will part it out on Ebay. It's a nice clean saw and could be a conversation piece at a dealer even if its dead.
I picked one of those up at a estate sale back in the summer and it's looks like it was used only a few times . It's got just a tiny bit of sawdust inside the clutch cover . It has the original Homelite bar on it and all the stickers are on the saw . One of my many saws to bring to life someday . I also picked up ( at the same sale ) a old red craftsman 3.7/18 ( not the Poulan but the Roper , the first 3.7/18 one Roper built that kinda looks like a old Remington and it was brand new never been used with the original bar with all the paper tags still on the bar . Already got it running with just a carb kit . It has that chain sharpening stone on the clutch cover with the correct chain on the bar .
Great video , You comment on the compression gauge . I had one gauge did not like the numbers it always came up with so i compared it to my compressor pressure and it was out by 30 PSI China junk . Ordered the same gauge that you have it was good . Buyer Beware
I have seen this way too many times picking up trade in saws at chainsaw shops or from some that were never picked back up etc. famous one I find is super xl says locked up on repair tag but just has loose tank bolts behind the flyhweel and they sell a new saw to the customer so I love your comments about what shops should say and do for a customer if they do not want to work on it. I have one of these coming for sale new intake boot and clean or cleaner than the one you have here in video but I feel like it does not sound as crisp as yours, have you removed or checked to see if any of the baffling has been removed in the exhaust muffler. Thanks
I have six of these 330 homelite chainsaws in my collection and five of them had bad intake boots! I think they are made of the same rubber that homelite used for the gomet in the middle of the air filters that reduce themselves to a Gooey mess?
Hello Leon a great video as always! I was just wondering how can i fix my homelite c7s leaking gas cap i didnt even find a duckbill valve in it so does it have one?
Hi Nathan, thxs for the excellent video coverage provided. I have a Homelite 330 which I have gone thru. It runs well when testing but under load cutting wood, it guts out. What can be the problem?
I would say that the duckbill needs replacing and it's vaporlocking, Or take a good look at the fuel line with the filter, it could be collapsing under full throttle or check for a pinhole in the line and the saw will run with a full tank but once it gets down on fuel and exposes the hole you got yourself an issue! 😋
RUBBISH PAINT sprayed straight onto bare metal in factory, RUBBISH OILER non adgustable vacuum type, RUBBISH AIR FILTER, RUBBISH RECOIL STARTER far too small & weak on a saw that BACKFIRES on starting, RUBBISH cover OVER CARB THAT DISTORTS AND LETS SAWDUST in carb, RUBBISH INTAKE BOOT that splits needing whole saw in bits to replace, CLAMSHELL engine where no replaceable CYLINDER. apart from that SOUNDS QUITE NICE.
I completely agree I bought a collection of 80 chain saws that were all gone through by an old chainsaw mechanic , and I just pulled one off the shelf at a time and fuel it up, out of 6 XL 12s regulars and Soopers they all fired right up except one with a bad blue coil the One 360 ran on squirt and the 330 started pissing fuel the minute I started filling up the tank. The 360 definitely looks better built. Without knowing anything I immediately knew the filter cover system was complete rubbish it literally just lets everything in no seal or nothing . Completely agree rubbish saw! Shit design. My favorite so far are McCulloch 610 , old Echoes and John Deere's and older Poulan magnesium case

I also have a Homelite 240 which also guts out under load while cutting wood. Same deal?
