      @@paperbacksandponytailsI would LOVE to buddy read with you once you’re freed up to try a new Cozy Mystery! Maybe we could try Apple Cider Slaying by Julie Anne Lindsey? I believe it has Christmasy vibes so it could be fun for the holidays. I know a lot of people here on BookTube seem to love that one. Let me know if that one or a different one sounds fun!

    I love Amanda flower’s Amish candy shop series so I almost read this series too since I ran out to those. But frankly, the idea that grandma tricked her in to going takes the enjoyment out of it for me. I don’t like manipulation like that and find it infuriating that she gets away with it. It’s a plot device I don’t enjoy. When people trick you by lying or omitting information to suit their purpose. It’s too bad too because a magic bookshop sounds fun. But I know myself and that will make me dislike grandma from day one and I can’t get past it. I’d have walked out and let her wallow in guilt. And story would be over.

      @LexiBetweenTheLines  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s a great point. At first I was like whaaaat why’d she lie? Then after a while Grandma Daisy won me over 😂 I could see later on why it happened the way it did. In other cases I wouldn’t have liked that detail at all, but as I got farther in the book other things made it make a bit more sense. But I could totally see not wanting to continue over something like that. I think it really depends on how it’s handled in the book 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I agree, straight up manipulation is not cool.

      I just don’t think I could get past it. I read a Nicole Deese book where a grandma tricked her granddaughter in to coming home by telling her about raising money for a sick kid. That was true but she was matchmaking cause the kid was the niece of the guy she wanted to set her up with. And I just kept getting angrier and angrier the more the granddaughter kept letting her off the hook! Most people find that cute but I don’t.

      @@Readingindarknesss very fair point! I’m in agreement with you there.
