I am so happy I came across this great performance. I wish my mother was here to enjoy it with me, since she's the one who turned me on to all of this (and all that jazz)
It just doesn't get any better than this!! Joe Williams' voice is so smooth and cool---what a gift. And of course, the Divine Sarah Vaughan. Tony Bennett looks very young here as does George Benson. Luv the dancing @ the end. Go Jazz greats!!
Just saw that was Count Basie @ piano. No wonder the band was so terrific, real sharp!!! These artists were really professionals! Thx! Jazz Street for the post. So happy Tony Bennet rescued Ms. Vaughan from another cut away swing by Joe Williams...he had Sarah goin'...goin''..gone:-0 WOW!!!
Oh my goodness, Sarah Vaughan and Joe Williams were really swinging with their dance. What a thrill. God bless them both! RIP ms. Vaughan and Mr. Williams! MISS YOU BOTH.
@eepghd i love how she danced with joe williams, it was kind a joke becouse a few years before on a tribute to louis armstrong, count basies band was playing "one o'clock jump" and ella fitzgerald danced with dizzy gillespie, so sarah and joe were dancing like them
I'm sorry to sound so rueful, but when I see such a jaw-dropping conglomeration of talent as this, from the mists of yesteryear, I can only recall the words of the great Ray Charles, to wit..." I've seen then and I've seen now...then was BETTER! "

Thanks Great. Once again I saw Sarah on the same bill with Nat Cole, Ralph Marterie, all on the same bill. What talent and class.

Miss Sarah had her hands full at the end. Lol
Con tu permiso...Translated: Count Basie definitively is good for your health!!
Your swingin
Lovely video, thanks so much for sharing. If you get a second, please stop by my channel and take a listen my original music. I hope you enjoy.
It could have been a good scat conversation but certain singer up there is afraid of doin´such thing...
Joe L., Joe L.
I love Tony Bennett, but man, he's SO out of his league here! A great singer of pop ballads, but not so much jazz, and definitely not a scatter!
