11:18 this is you being Darksidephil. There is no targeting system, but the prince attacks whoever you are pointing your joystick towards, or jumps over whoever you are pushing your joystick towards. NOT who is closest. This is how you can bounce back and forth attacking different enemies, AND it is also why you tried to jump over the big guy, when you were CLEARLY standing much closer to the smaller guys, DIRECTLY BESIDE THEM in-fact... So I have no clue how you come away from playing through and editing all that, while still thinking the Prince is just attacking whoever you are closest to... Dying multiple times to figure things out is what makes the game good, because then when you don't die and figure things out, it is rewarding. The camera can be a bit rough, but mostly it is intentional, and if you use first person and consider all perspectives it is never a serious issue, unless you are being lazy and not thinking. I think this game is the equivalent to a linear version of Ocarina of Time, not in style, but how the game is perfectly what it sets out to be, and as a result we have a timeless masterpiece. A work of art that can be experienced in real time and absorbed as if it were a great mural or a beloved film that can be a appreciated for generations to come. The combat lacks some depth, but I can tell you haven't figured it out yet and that is why you are having trouble. There are different attacks and hidden techniques that aren't spelled out to the player, that you have to experiment with on different enemy types.
@@realityvanguard2052 Aha! That would explain a bunch of things, actually. I don't know why that didn't click with me as I was doing the fights before (maybe because something caused me to assume otherwise). I'll go back in with that mindset and give it another go. Also, lol, never seen a video of his, but you've got me curious now.
Playing the game right now, and the combat is seriously pissing me off. So annoying having to stab every single enemy on the ground in order to kill them. Thank god Warrior Within made the changes it did to make it fun. Other then that huge flaw the game has, it's not bad. Much prefer the sequels though.
@@JDOmnislash That's why I loved Warrior Within when I first played it. The combat system was so good, and since I started with that game first, coming to Sands of Time now is a bit hard because of how the combat is. The game is good otherwise, but that awful combat nearly ruins it for me. I also nearly rage quit when I was fighting off this horde of sand monsters with a sliver of health left, only to be killed by Farah with her shit aiming.

Oh yeah, FULLY agreed about the combat. Just glad they were able to successfully build on its foundation.

@@OTBASH Makes perfect sense. I also got killed by one of her arrows once. Surprised they didn't give me a trophy for that on the PS3 version, haha.
