I think reading chord boxes is the easiest thing in learning guitar because they are so straightforward and logical. Everything else about guitars is an illogical nightmare. The dots on the neck, for instance are in the wrong place when it gets to the C and D relative to the E String. And the shift in tuning from the G string to the B string. And the fact that almost every note can be found in many different places makes learning guitar a real ‘Chinese Puzzle! My guess is that the dots on the fretboard were put there just to look pretty without any consideration for what they might be used for. If you ever get a bespoke guitar made, ensure the dots line up with all the whole notes on the E strings. Just saying after playing guitar for 60 years.
Why are my fingers too wimpy to play a bar chord? I see people play these chords so easily and I can press as hard as I can and two or three strings still sound like pfff.
Hey, try to place your Thumb more to the Midlefinger. That will cause your wrist to turn a little and your Index will rotate a bit. That will cover your Strings with the more stiff parts of your Index. You won't need much presure to Bar that way. Rest is musklememory and practice. Have fun, we all where there.
Good video Andy and all the best for the New Year.
So much better having vertical cord diagrams 😃

How do you know how many chords to strum ? All 6 or only 5 sometimes?
