Animal has great guitars on the Hysteria album version. To this day I don't understand why Mutt Lange buried them so far in the mix, notably the chorus rhythm guitar. As always, you've done an excellent job with the song. It was cool to hear those guitars out front where they should be.
Yeah the guitars could be up a notch or two but I think the louder you make them, the smaller the overall mix would become. There's a lot going on in these songs so I think it's all a balancing act mix approach. I've often wondered why that chorus rhythm guitar is only panned left but it balances with the lead on the right and also creates space in the middle for everything else. You could still turn up those guitars and have it sound great but you wouldn't be able to hear the little subtleties like the clean guitar chord hits on the chorus for example.

Love how Phil does the solo here with the very high pinch harmonic at the end of the solo
I believe that’s how it is on the album too but the nature of pinch harmonics make them hard to replicate exactly.
