I dropped my color soundlink (black color first generation) into a pool while listening to music, I pulled it out of the water and it played fine, I still use it daily
Same! I love mine and use it all the time. I review a lot of products and usually don't keep them, but this is something that I kept since it is so awesome. Thanks for watching.
I have the SoundLink 1st gen and its a very good speaker. I did a comparison to my other Bose SoundLink Micro. Check it out on my channel and let me know what you think. th-cam.com/video/eawXOEok9Sg/w-d-xo.html
My Soundlink colour 1 was missing for 2 years, packed away in a box. I just got a Soundlink Flex and it sounds amazing.....but also found my missing Soundlink colour 1. Of course the flex sounds better but Bose sound quality is so awesome, you'd only notice with side by side comparisons only.
I got a 2, my only problem is bass is a bit much and for the price not stereo. Aside. Great sound quality, great form and function. Sound is best indoors and is projected nicely. I only use it for music. Liked your review.
I just received my new SoundLink Color II and really like the phone feature. I bought the 1st generation Bose SLC speaker from QVC a little over 2 years ago and it stopped charging. I contacted Bose, they asked for the Model and Serial numbers to verify it was legit, talked me through a few steps to see if we could reset it so that it would charge again and no luck. So Bose offered me an upgrade to the SLC II for $75 + tax, they sent me a prepaid shipping label and I boxed it up and sent it to them. On the day that I checked the tracking #, I saw that it had been signed for/delivered to Bose the prior day. That evening, my new SLC II was waiting at my door for me when I got home from work.......so they overnighted it at no charge to me. BOSE IS TOP NOTCH!
My Bose II sounded great for four months and then it died. I contacted Bose support team and they gave me a link to download a new program. It worked and it’s been about 3 weeks and it works like new.
I actually love my Bose sound coor I... However I do agree with the better bluetooth feature in Color II, Bose Color I isn't really sharp when looking bluetooth connection with my iPhone. HOWEVER (bigger one) I was in a Bose outlet recently and when you're buying a second speaker, you can actually get a Color I almost half price each vs the Color II.
On eBay they have them insanely expensive for 7 year old technology. Nearly $90 . The Bose micro speaker I ordered $45 plus delivery fee. And it’s pristine condition. Most want more and alot of dings and scratches.
Hi Kevin! I just ordered Color I On HSN last night. After watching your video it sounds like I made a good choice and am anxious to get it. Love your stuff 👍
I have the SoundLink Color 1st gen and its a GREAT speaker. I did a comparison to my other Bose SoundLink Micro. Check it out on my channel and let me know what you think. th-cam.com/video/eawXOEok9Sg/w-d-xo.html
I have had Soundlink 2 for a while. Just got soundlink 1. The 2 is more durable other then that as far as playing music the difference isn’t noticeable to me. I love BOSE products because of the main factor which is Customer Service. Their CS is one of the best I’ve ever dealt with. They back their products. I have just about any BOSE radio headphones and sound dock also. Any time I had a problem BOSE replaced the product even after warranty ran out free of charge. I’ll pay the extra $$ so I don’t have to buy same product again after warranty runs out.
My buddy has a color 1, and I just bought a color 2 and immediately returned it. The color 1 is so much louder than the color 2. Have you noticed this or did I possibly have a defective one? I had the color 2 all the way up and I could put it up to my ear comfortably, where as his hurts my ears from 10 feet away. I was truly disappointed with it.
Hi there, Description from the 1st Gen: - "It's waterproof from the inside out, so even if it falls in the pool, just pull it out and keep on playing." - "Rugged, waterproof design - meets IPX7 standards." Description from the 2nd Gen (II): - "From the pool to the park to the patio, its rugged, water-resistant design lets you enjoy the music you love in more places." - "Durable, portable and water resistant" - "Wherever you're headed, SoundLink Micro is designed to tag along with a silicone rubber exterior, tear-resistant strap and IPX7 waterproof rating allows it to survive a fall into the pool or ocean. There's no need to panic if you drop it." Sounds like they are expected to have the same level of water resistance. Or did you experience anything different?
I would not touch another Bose product my Soundlink Color II has been so much trouble over the years I've had it. Yesterday it just stopped working. Tried every trick in the book. This morning it's charging I think! Have a JBL speaker iPod dock, well over ten years old, never had a problem.
The older gen 1 is still going strong with me. Although i did replece it with the stockwell 2. As the battery and soundprofile deteriorated over the years. Dropping it in watter. Taking it with me in a hot steamy bathroom. Or putting it in a backpack full with crumbs and other junk mightve affected it aswell. Really impressed with it. The later models though... i wouldnt want to buy another bose speaker ever either. The headphones are still good though! For now at least.
Hi you don’t talk about the Bluetooth, I have the Bose 1 and about the sound and the design the difference isn’t bigger but the Bluetooth is 4.2 for the new one they say is about 9m what about the Bose 1? Sometimes I notice that the signal is weak. What’s your opinion, by the way this Bose is my favorite Bluetooth speaker
There's no question that the 1st generation offers far more reliable connection and is a better sounding speaker but you can't pair it and use the party mode. There are better sounding speakers for less that can be paired.
Great review Kevin, thank you!! I purchased the Sound Link I on QVC but have not received it. When I saw there was a Soundlink II I was concerned that I was buying old technology. Thanks to you, I am staying with my QVC decision because none of the features on the soundlink II are of importance to me. Thank you very much!!!
Thanks for the comparison! I have the 1st gen since last year and was really interested in knowing if there was any improvement in sound quality. Not that I can complain, 1st gen is already so good.
Paul Love The simplest answer is yes and no - if the Soundlink is anything like my Bose Revolves - and I have reason to believe it is - but don’t quote me on that - you can download the Bose app from the App Store on Apple or the equivalent elsewhere - turn on Bluetooth on your device, send it to the speaker you assign as the left channel - once the app finds it, you can get it to go into Party Mode - it will find your second speaker and pair with it - in Party Mode, you can play the audio from your phone to both speakers simultaneously (albeit in mono) in different rooms in the house - by activating Stereo Mode, you can get the speakers to play in stereo - you need to have them in the same room - as long as you’re listening to something that is in stereo, you can get stereo sound! You can do it without the app for other devices - but it’s a bit tricky!
How about the party mode and stereo mode? It seems only available with the Soundlink II. I am trying to connect these two together for party mode and it doesnt work, seems like the older generation doesnt support it??? I wonder if there is another to connect them party mode or stereo mode cause that is the reason I bought another Bose Soundlink but picked the seconde model... Thanks!!!
Bose Responded to the Problem , I held down the Aux button and Both Volume buttons , it reset the speaker and its back to 100 percent working order! Bose is a good company
Hey! I've just bought the sound link colour II and I have a doubt.. if I will use it most of the time at home... it's better to keep it plugged to the wall? Or charge all the battery, unplugged it and use it till the charge is over and charge it again..? What do you suggest..?
Great review on both. Easy to understand. Small question, can you connect this up as an external speaker for you TV? Using the 3.5 mm plug not bluetooth.....instead of a soundbar? Thanks.
chifan7 Yes. You can. For bose soundlink color 1, connect jack 3.5 to speaker and TV, and then press AUX button on the speaker. You can enjoy the music. If it does not work, please select the speaker mode on your TV.
Hey Kevin, I use the Bose 1 at night to play white sounds, but it's so annoying when I first connect, it yells "CONNECTED TO GALAXY S9" and wakes my husband up. Do you know if theres a way to turn this off? And does the second version scream that too?
Jessica M I had that happen once and it woke up my 4 year old, lol. It was not this speaker though. It was a tiny round generic beats ripoff speaker, lol
Hi, thanks for the video; Question: is there any difference in the beeping behaviour of the two models: I have the first model and it beeps ( pausemusic/beep/resume music) when I plug in or remove external power. I love music and hate it being interrupted/corrupted this way. The Bose website assures me my device's firmware is up to date. Any ideas?
Hey buddy so do you know of a video that's shows the process to reattach the usb conection on the bose. I think mine became loose and now it will not charge. Not the battery I don't think because I been having probs of it beeping to connect and the same when it disconnects. But it will kind of disconnect. I move tge cable and it will reconnect. I've used different cables still did the same. Except with brand new ones for some reason connected right away now tho no matter what I put on it out will not connect.
I took this thing in my backpack when i was still in school. Took it into bath with me. Thank you for the great review. I recently purchased the soundlink 1 off Ebay for $60 used. It's the perfect speaker for work!
Congrats on your new purchase!

The 1st version is really nice! The 2nd version is only slightly better
I prefer the first version too
Picked up a Color 1 today for $30. Great Shape and I'm pretty satisfied so far.
The first version is better looking.
I Just purchased a color I this weekend for 80 dollars without knowing There is color II already available. Im glad they performance is the same ...

Mike Edelin were you able to link the 1 and 2 together, for "party mode" or stereo sound??
I started with the two for 180 with a case, I do love the call function
BOSE Colour 1 instantly pairs with my OnePlus5 phone and also with my Windows laptop. Literally without a second of delay.
No information about batteries? What is lifespan of batts? How easy are they to replace? Do they need soldering, or can they just pop in?
Sound quality and longevity are my major concerns. Need opinion on both. Thank you and best regards.
Can this bose soundlink color 1 be used to answer calls? Or practise singing? Thx

Hi there,
Description from the 1st Gen:
- "It's waterproof from the inside out, so even if it falls in the pool, just pull it out and keep on playing."

Can you link two of the 1’s together for stereo or party sound?
Also...the soundlink color 2 can be paired in stereo now with a firmware update. (You need two obviously).

Hey! Have you ever dropped the first generation? Ive dropped mine but don't want to give up on it quite yet if there are other options
I'm assuming it's not working? Maybe try taking it to your local Bose store if you have one.

Can the color one pair up with a revolve plus another words party mode, or only with the color two
I'm pretty sure that there isn't a party mode sadly.

Can we connect soundlink color 1 with bose app?
