As a commerce student who is about the finish his school, my advice to youngsters is that pick stream according to your interests and strengths. You know that in US, people take humanities subjects seriously and most of them have end up in major corporate bodies like CEO of Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, World Bank, and even McKinsey.

@@kash7348 Pls decide whether you want to take commerce or not. Due to increased competition in the competitive and entrance exams nowadays, it would be wise to stick to a stream which offers the opportunities you are interested in.
humanities? No they have backgrounds in Commerce. Overall Arts/Humanities is good but working at banks/consulting firms/audit firms do require commerce background.
how streams are categorised:
science- for toppers, the default
commerce- still acceptable, but not expected
arts- if you are below average student and hate maths

@@sindhusadavi1215 lol no. it depends on what education you're getting. like in arts its better to take up a good college so that the education and experience that you are getting is accountable. in science and commerce it doesn't really matter that much but your college makes a huge difference in arts. the only thing is that you have to be the best at what you do, scope khud hi aa jayega. people that take up arts are up for a challenge and will definitely put their best foot forward. i feel like its better to do what you love since you're actually interested in what you're doing. so people automatically become the best at what they do when they do something that they enjoy. also the world is gonna keep changing. arts will also hold importance in the years to come so i think its stupid to say that there's no scope. because im certain that there will be.

I also had this situation.. when 98 percentage in my 10th exam.. everyone was persuing me to take science as main stream..but then I decided history is my favourite subject so I have to take humanities instead of science and commerce..now I am a proud humanities student..

I think every school should give career counselling sessions. Most 10th graders under peer pressure choose their stream and regret later in life. Parents should also understand that Science is not the only stream which will help your child to have a great career in future. Every stream has scope provided that you have keen interest in it.

I'm a commerce student of class 12 and see it is preety much clear that you should take a stream in which you are passionate and want to excell and if your parents understand you and trust on you the won't force it's just all a negative image done by our society.
After exams just research and chose what you want to see in the next 20-30 years in you - it can be artist, engineer, doctor, analyst , drama etc.

This is exactly what I go through. The thing is I love physics and chemistry but as I want to go for LAW in a college in Hyderabad or Bengaluru I have to write KLAT. So I am thing of getting coaching for that during my 11th and 12 th. But then if I take science it is going to be hard for me to do both the works. Okk, I see a lot of students who want to take science but are fearing from it..
As a science student, Let me tell you..
Look, You can not always imagine the study level to be same, You are growing, So are your study levels, It cant always be easy like 5th class , learn to accept that .
Now, You know why people say science is hard?? They dont study consistently, And by consistently , I mean atleast 3 hours a day (self study not watching yt lectures and tuition) thats the main problem. I got 94 in tenth , Chose pcb, And in 11th, got 82 percentage(started studying seriously only in the last month)
The burden became so huge on me because I didnt study consistently throughout the year, Most of the days, I would watch anime and k drama , yt etc and waste the whole day..
This was because, I used to study like this in 10th, Tenth is easy, I scored good in it even after studying only for 2 months and chilling. And this habit if mine was very wrong, I realized this now as I am in 12th...
11th is not a piece of cake , Like 10th was, You need to study and devote hours to it, Syllabus is huge, Better start little by little everyday..

U can still take pcb even with less marks. There is no such rule to stop students from taking a streem because of marks. 50% or above is enough.

I can proudly say that I am an arts student. As i see arts is underrated I don't regret i feel lucky that my parents supported me and they didn't pressure me to take only science. I had taken mixed science where I have chosen Psychology instead of maths . After my final boards this year , I have thought for opting Psychology as major but many people think it as a stream of humanities and not science , which is absolutely wrong . Psychology is social science in which a student can either opt for BSc. ( Hons ) degree or B.A. ( Hons ) degree depending on their elective subjects . Now people ask me _"after studying science for 2 years you will apply for arts degree ?"_ which literally irritates me because of listening to the cheap mindset of people who think like this . They are don't know about the subject and moreover now also people see humanities as a very easy stream which according to them can be a an option for anyone , which is not true . Being a science student I can say , I have friends who are having humanities are having the same load as me and also it is absolutely not very easy . Every stream has it's own pros and cons but the importance of every stream is equal . So it's a request to all , don't discriminate among the stream , choose whatever you like and opt for the one you are most interested in .
You said people are wrong about considering Psychology as a stream of humanities and not Science. No offence but that isn't true. I am an Arts student and I want to pursue a career in Psychology. I have even talked to Psychologists who said Arts is better for Psychology as in India, there aren't many colleges which offer a course in Psychology after BSc. Lastly, I ain't correcting you but just putting forward the things I have learned!

I've taken Commerce because it is the most amazing stream in my view. It's all about wealth, leadership and management. Now I am studying Business Administration at university. Basically schools should have career counseling sessions, when I was in school I didn't knew what to choose in 11th the all I know is I am always into leadership, team building, etc but right after 10th I've realized commerce is that stream by which you go in leadership in real life.
Really even I'm into commerce since class 8 now I'm currently doing my term 2 class 10 exams just that i don't think I can cross 80% in maths

@@reevangracekharumnuid227 don't worry about maths. Yes, it's the toughest subject but it doesn't really matter that much. Just try and practice. I'm weak in maths but took commerce because the only subject that ACTUALLY MATTERS is ACCOUNTANCY. Trust me on that. From the very first day, try to focus on accounts. I'm in 11th standard (gave 10th icse this year) and accounts is such a beautiful subject if you focus on it and practice it from the very first day ❤️ and believe me accounts is at least 10 times easier than maths. If you're really scared of maths, take some other alternative because maths isn't compulsory. You'll only need the chapters you've done till 10th for banking jobs and MBA! I've taken maths because some top colleges in my city requires maths till 12th as well.
As always it's an amazing video. As you approached this topic we all can say that it was something we all went through. I still remember me choosing science was completely was my family's decision. I wanted to take arts or eco science. But as you know not everyone could fight for themselves. But still it was not bad no... as some of us gets confused about what to choose. So parents helping them out to pick out the correct stream is not bad but they should give their child the freedom to have what they want.

Don’t give a chance to your life to be regretted about your decision.
Every stream does 'not' have equal job opportunities. Don't get me wrong but this is the bitter truth. Sure, There are a lot of opportunities in this world (India), example, Government Jobs, private buisness, teaching, Media, Acting, etc, that anyone from above mentioned streams(Science, Comm., Arts) can take up. But keep in mind few things:
Mathematics: A lot of government jobs specifically require candidates from the PCM stream (NDA, Govt. Engineering Jobs, all the PSUs(BHEL, SAIL, ONGC, HAL etc).
In private sector, The IT and Technology field is blooming in India. It is the best time to work in this field, it requires an engineering degree in a related comp.field( CSE, ECE or EE). When you apply for government jobs, lot of them(not all) have a mathematics and Aptitude section, taking PCM can surely help you in that. I can list 20 more career prospects like the above in PCM and the list can go on and on.
You may not want to be an Engineer, but sure by taking Mathematics, you are definitely not making a mistake (except in one case mentioned below). I am telling this because I am a Mathematics student myself.
DON'T TAKE ANY STREAM WHICH YOU DON'T LIKE (HATE). YOU WILL END UP DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD. I TOOK MATHS BECAUSE I LIKED MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS.
@@vinayaktripathi8307 Many people work in the IT sector despite being from a commerce background it is not always necessary to be in science for software and more,over if there is some accountancy works in some work the engineers would be stuck but those who become by taking commerce will not

I used to hate subjects taught in humanities in my junior classes. But when you know, you just know. & so, I knew right from class 8 that I am going to choose humanities. People that time told me that I was still young enough to decide what to choose after 10th right from then. But my decision was completely mine & fixed to the core. It was one of the first important decisions I'd taken in my life & I never thought I'd be so crystal clear in my choice 😃 My 12th boards in a few weeks & doesn't matter where I head to in my future, what my future would turn into, but this single decision would always make me proud whenever I'd look back. Period.

Very relatable. I had crystal clear vision from class 8 that I'm gonna take arts but it has changed from last 2 months. Now I'm more into commerce but still not sure. Never really thought I'll have to face this confusion. Let's see what happens.

Also sometimes when we r not sure abt what to do after 12th its better to take science,with science in 12th,we can go for literally anything later on , but with commerce or arts, we cant chose any other stream and have to continue with the same subjects

@Son Ye Jin oh i m completely aware of that cuz most of my frnds n classmates r in a fix bcoz of that...but still some parents r there who dont force to take a subject of their choice and let their kids make their decision about their education

For someone who just gave boards,I didn't even actually know what I wanted to do.Then I decided that I shall take arts but when everybody talked only about science, I lost my confidence. I felt guilty for not taking science when I took advance maths as an elective subject. But few days ago I talked about it with my parents and luckily they asked me to do whatever I want and not to feel guilty. I like doing maths but I don't want to take science so I chose eco stats maths and learning music along with it. Any stream can be helpful, we just have to work hard.
I know this feeling I have same subject too and I was really depressed for not taking science my aunties played a huge role in demotivating me

Honestly speaking, I started thinking of choosing a career from class 6. Now I'm in 12th and I'm not confused anymore.
Started thinking about stream from class 9 and not after 10th result. For choosing a stream, you need to consider what are your subjects gonna be, depending on that you'll find it easy to choose a stream. Just research a little on the topics which will be covered in those subjects so that you'll be able to understand in 11th/12th and not sit there dumbstruck. While choosing my stream, I considered the subjects, topics covered and school nearby. Now I'm fully satisfied without any regrets while many fellow classmates change their stream from science to commerce or Commerce to humanities because they regret their choices later.
Never ever blindly follow anything, don't listen to what stream your parents want you to take, don't take stream just because your friend is taking that too.
Go to your teachers, talk with them, understand what topics will be covered and then make a decision. Because once you choose a stream you can't easily change it, right? Either you'll have a lot of difficulties in changing or else you'll keep regretting. So choose wisely. Hope that helps.

I was a topper in school back in class 8. So my parents decided to put me in FIITJEE to prepare me as a doctor/engineer. I didn't know what I wanted to do so, I went along with their decision. I got really good marks in FIITJEE and was planning to enter science stream. Untill, I saw a video of day in life of UI/UX designer in class 10. I feel in love with job at first sight and researched it's aspects and prospects. It felt like a perfect job for me filled with coding, art sense and data research. It didn't feel like a boring deskjob. Then, we had a lot of arguments in home and finally my parents agreed to my decision. Even my tuition teachers of bio, chem, phy and math said that I would regret my decision.
Currently in class 12 humanities (web design is my eca)

update: I got 96% now, everyone is praising for taking what I like

And besides I'm school topper, so everyone is like- "Goshhhh you're topper! Take Science!" You guys won't believe that even my Principal called me and my parents to change my mind and to take Science but NO! I'm determined that imma take Humanities 😌 Thanks for reading this much and yeah we shouldn't let others reflect our views. ❤
