Carr is definitely playing like he’s scared to get injured. Then he needs to retire. I’ve never seen a quarterback just not go through his reads and immediately check it down on a consistent basis like that. The fact we have coaches who don’t say anything to him speaks volumes as to why this team has underachieved the way it has. Then to make it worse Carr is constantly yelling at teammates when he’s the one who’s constantly not doing his job. Like this guy said its not just 1 play and its not just him pointing this out. There’s former NFL quarterbacks who have broken down film on Carr and have pointed stuff like this out. I wanted to like Carr and I thought he would be descent but he is beyond horrible. Nothing would make me happier than Carr making me eat my words and he ends being a great quarterback for the Saints. It’s not gonna happen because he absolutely sucks as an NFL quarterback.

He is probably the worst starting QB as far at anticipation goes. I think that means he doesn't trust his receivers to get where they are suppose to be. That is sad.
Having watched Carr since day one, this is a result of the broken leg and pressure of living up to the contracts. People forget that back in 2017 he was the 2nd highest paid player in the whole NFL. Coming off the injury he developed a style of planning a point of attack before the snap, if it’s not there go to the check down. It’s a high percentage completion and gains yards most of the time. I think he’s barking at teammates on the field to make it clear in front of the cameras. “It’s that guys fault the play didn’t work”. He needs to retire.
One crossing route Olave was open twice.... Carr saw him neither time....He's playing hurt and it's killing us.... We won't let the ball go unless it's wide open with time that our line can't create
Man that pocket was clear stop helping up for Carr he’s only been sacked like 26 times which is ok, he haven’t been sacked 40 times yet, and at least of the 10 times he was sacked was because he holds the ball
This is one of MANY times this season Derek Thief has had a clean pocket with time to throw but instead of getting a big play he decides to play lucky ball by throwing 2 yards passes and hoping he gets lucky.

If he had more time he could have hit AT Perry deep. A quarterbacks ability to make all the reads and decision making is influenced by consistently poor o-line play. Carr is not Drew Brees and never will be. This is the worst o-line I've seen the Saint have since Sean Payton got there. I believe poor pass blocking and an inconsistent run game will get the worst out of MOST qbs. Remember Carr has been knocked out of multiple games. How often did that happen with Drew?

I believe the target was a post route from the right slot. I think he ran the wrong route. If you watch his route he started to slant back to the middle but appears to be held.
I agree, this one is partially on Bowden (not Harwell--who is that?) and the refs missing the hold, but I believe a catchable pass could have been made to every single receiver on this play if the timing was right.

Drew had average yards of 7.5 DC has average yards of 6.8 Drew had 68% passing DC has 64% DC is not as good as DREW But DREW WAS A CHECK DOWN CHARLIE Drew had a better o line and defense to help win games. DC does not deserve 150. More like 50. But, DC is not on the top 5 problems on this team. This team has sucked for 2 years. Receivers dropping balls. Defense sucked since the greenbay game. Play 1, your wrong. chris is the decoy. Look at carr's eyes. The play is not to go short, its to go deep. They scored a touch down on this play a week later. The two out and ups. You take one play, talk mess and fail to realize that the throw went to his 4th progression. He was hurt last game and it showed. DA is to much of a beta to play Winston. ITs amazing that DA tore down the saints golden age in two years. He also plays with ZERO anticipation, which is so odd since he is a west coast offense QB lol.
I've said it since the start of the season: he's decided before the ball is snapped that he's going to check it down to Alvin. Proof? His average depth of target is 0.1 yards to Alvin. With Jameis? 1.8 yards. Taysom? 1.5 yards. I get it, Alvin is dangerous in space, but which QB is allowing Alvin to do Alvin things? It ain't Carr.
This is the problem with the All-22 footage being so readily available. It leads to videos like this that get swallowed up by the masses despite not actually knowing what you're looking at. On the first play Olave is not open when Carr is facing his way, if Carr lets that ball go that might be a pick 6. The reason he gets open is because the db sees Carr looking the other way. If he was playing with a bird's eye camera then yes he would absolutely have seen Olave open, but in real life with actual lines of sight, expecting him to see that is silly and unreasonable.

When the casual fanbase was playing carmichael, i been blaming carr he is beyond terrible... my anxiety gets high just thinking about somehow hes our qb, he is so atrcious in every facet of football im baffled how hes a 10 yr veteran and how he has never improved... he gets outplayed by younger guys at the same position regularly.

ryan fitzpatrick has 7 less career td's than carr in 300+ less attempts in far worse situations. a journeyman backup qb. 230 over 10 years is also not very impressive as far as what you expect from a starting caliber qb, especially in the current era where passing is as easy as ever.

The Saints actually didn't make a mistake: Dennis Allen knows Carr WELL; he drafted and coached him when he entered the league (we all know how that went); we shut Carr and Raiders OUT last year; and the last thing Carr did in Vegas was sob at a press conference... Allen, Loomis, Benson KNEW EXACTLY who they were grossly overpaying. The question is WHY was this done?
i think they felt pressure to make a move. unfortunately they made one of the worst moves possible. now this staff is tied to carr with this contract and will all be gone when it completely crashes and burns.

Carr is about reading the defense and will go to his check down quickly if he thinks everyone is covered. Carr is not your guy if you want a play to develop. He reads the play and makes his choice early. If he don't find something quick it usually ends up with a turn over or sack. He can't scramble to save his life. But I give Carr lots of credit for being able to read the defense and finding open receivers and/or calling audibles. Carr also expects all his players to be in the right position and know the plays like he does. That gets him in trouble I can tell, specially when Carr likes a fairly complex set of plays. I do think if you give Carr a chance and find him a coach that he works good with and that sticks around for a few years you will find yourself in the playoffs. But I'm not sure Carr will ever get better than that. I actually think Carr is better when he is calling the plays and in a no huddle offense. I would not trade Carr in unless you have a QB you know that is better. Look where the Raiders are now. Carr is the best QB on your team and if you support him for years to come he will bring in players that he works well with. Find him a good TE and a good OL and you might be in business.
With his stats averaged out he finished 10th amongst NFL QBs. That's with the defenses he faces as well. That's also playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. You stink.

When you say he should throw it to Chris, Carr has already stopped looking at him and had moved on. The defender that was preparing to jump the route a half a second ago see Derrick move off Chris and he follows Carr's eyes and begins moving toward center of field. So at that moment, Chris is open and if Carr looked back at Chris he would have seen it, but he had already moved off of Chris and was looking for someone else. What I see is it would be a good strategy to look off Chris for that one half of second to get Chris open. So maybe the issue is that Carr doesn't know how to look off a receiver for a half second and then right back to him and throw it. Brees did that and we see Maholmes do it very effectively so it is definitely possible to learn. Maybe you know the answer to this question. at 2:53 Carr's is in position to throw. Chris isn't open yet, but both receivers at the bottom of the screen are open. They had their backs to Carr but why couldn't you create a play where they turn around and he throws it to either of them for 5+ yard gain. I've seen Tua do that. Is that a Pete issue? You are right in that he should have moved up in pocket, he had plenty of time, and hopefully he would see Juwan getting open. Had he thrown it there is a high chance Juwan would have dropped it, but still he should do the correct play.

What Carr has to work with? There is a ton of talent on the offense. He gets receivers killed every week because of hesitation and terrible ball placement.

He was hurt last game and it showed. DA is to much of a beta to play Winston. ITs amazing that DA tore down the saints golden age in two years. He also plays with ZERO anticipation, which is so odd since he is a west coast offense QB lol.
I've said it since the start of the season: he's decided before the ball is snapped that he's going to check it down to Alvin. Proof? His average depth of target is 0.1 yards to Alvin. With Jameis? 1.8 yards. Taysom? 1.5 yards. I get it, Alvin is dangerous in space, but which QB is allowing Alvin to do Alvin things? It ain't Carr.
This is the problem with the All-22 footage being so readily available. It leads to videos like this that get swallowed up by the masses despite not actually knowing what you're looking at. On the first play Olave is not open when Carr is facing his way, if Carr lets that ball go that might be a pick 6. The reason he gets open is because the db sees Carr looking the other way. If he was playing with a bird's eye camera then yes he would absolutely have seen Olave open, but in real life with actual lines of sight, expecting him to see that is silly and unreasonable.

ryan fitzpatrick has 7 less career td's than carr in 300+ less attempts in far worse situations. a journeyman backup qb. 230 over 10 years is also not very impressive as far as what you expect from a starting caliber qb, especially in the current era where passing is as easy as ever.

The Saints actually didn't make a mistake: Dennis Allen knows Carr WELL; he drafted and coached him when he entered the league (we all know how that went); we shut Carr and Raiders OUT last year; and the last thing Carr did in Vegas was sob at a press conference... Allen, Loomis, Benson KNEW EXACTLY who they were grossly overpaying. The question is WHY was this done?
i think they felt pressure to make a move. unfortunately they made one of the worst moves possible. now this staff is tied to carr with this contract and will all be gone when it completely crashes and burns.

Carr is about reading the defense and will go to his check down quickly if he thinks everyone is covered.
Carr is not your guy if you want a play to develop.
He reads the play and makes his choice early.
If he don't find something quick it usually ends up with a turn over or sack.
He can't scramble to save his life.
But I give Carr lots of credit for being able to read the defense and finding open receivers and/or calling audibles.
Carr also expects all his players to be in the right position and know the plays like he does.
That gets him in trouble I can tell, specially when Carr likes a fairly complex set of plays.
I do think if you give Carr a chance and find him a coach that he works good with and that sticks around for a few years you will find yourself in the playoffs.
But I'm not sure Carr will ever get better than that.
I actually think Carr is better when he is calling the plays and in a no huddle offense.
I would not trade Carr in unless you have a QB you know that is better.
Look where the Raiders are now.
Carr is the best QB on your team and if you support him for years to come he will bring in players that he works well with.
Find him a good TE and a good OL and you might be in business.
With his stats averaged out he finished 10th amongst NFL QBs. That's with the defenses he faces as well. That's also playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. You stink.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this. He is scarred (& scared) from the injury that he had in Oakland.
When you say he should throw it to Chris, Carr has already stopped looking at him and had moved on. The defender that was preparing to jump the route a half a second ago see Derrick move off Chris and he follows Carr's eyes and begins moving toward center of field. So at that moment, Chris is open and if Carr looked back at Chris he would have seen it, but he had already moved off of Chris and was looking for someone else.
What I see is it would be a good strategy to look off Chris for that one half of second to get Chris open. So maybe the issue is that Carr doesn't know how to look off a receiver for a half second and then right back to him and throw it. Brees did that and we see Maholmes do it very effectively so it is definitely possible to learn.
Maybe you know the answer to this question. at 2:53 Carr's is in position to throw. Chris isn't open yet, but both receivers at the bottom of the screen are open. They had their backs to Carr but why couldn't you create a play where they turn around and he throws it to either of them for 5+ yard gain. I've seen Tua do that. Is that a Pete issue?
You are right in that he should have moved up in pocket, he had plenty of time, and hopefully he would see Juwan getting open. Had he thrown it there is a high chance Juwan would have dropped it, but still he should do the correct play.
