Could hear the frustration in your voice. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm discovering similar issues with the tensioner, and that's using the old one. I didn't buy the Dayco Kit, but your information was very interesting to hear. Thank you!
Agreed with the strange design logics: one more, and a caution. The air-con compressor belt tensioner pully's tension is adjusted with a hex-head bolt and screwing into a post with a threaded head 'block'. To look at the water pump belt tensioner and the compressor's they appear very similar, but the setting/releasing screw actions are confusing. THIS is because the water-pump adjusting bolt is a right-hand (normal) thread, whereas the compressor adjusting bolt is a LEFT-handed thread! I had a dicken's of a job removing the compressor bolt - it was jammed solid.. Days of penetrating oil finally permitted me to release it, but it was such a struggle that I didn't twig the cacky-handed thread. (I was old and tired :{ So: the bolt doesn't look too bad, and a quick deep-V mini-file quickly clears the irregularities on the thread. Still didn't twig. Then I run a M8 1.25 start-tap through the female part, and that is hard work - obviously damaged. Finally twig. I've just run a right hand tap through a left hand nut! Which in jewelerer's loupe check inside the hole shows that some had been there before me, and done the same! Duh. Hyundai central spares vaugue
(whoops - hit Rtn - cont:) So I ring around wreckers - funny, a bloke says, I had someone in here just last week wanting the same thing. So I'm not the only dill. No spares, so refitting. If the shredded threads can't hold the belt tension for the compressor, and strip, I suspect a solution will be to have a professional fitter & turner drill out the female end, heat it, and shrink onto a sleeve or rod. That fitter *may* have a left-handed tap on hand. If not you will have to track down an M8 1.25 standard/course start tap. Took some ringing around here 'til a source was found. About 5-6 times the price of the right-handed normal tap. Ouch. Long winded, because I always describe in such a way that someone with zero knowledge of the skill being discussed walks away with the topic understood.. Thanks, orig poster. You gave me confidence to dust of my overalls and crawl under a car for 1st time in 20 years. You time and effort put into making the clip greatly helped, and most appreciated.
your a lucky fucker then, my 2005, is a mess, and has 185 ks. clutch went at 150, suspension is gone, CV starting to make noises, water pump is leaking.. engine is still ok, but i service it, change oil every 10 tho k, year getz is a piece of crap!!
Except these things are one of hyundais most successful (damn near ONLY REAL successful) small cars that outlasted most GMs of the same age. They've never built one vehicle so unchanged for so long as the Getz.

Thanks for sharing. You are not a 'dill'! Your honesty helped me.
Never ever put a gasket on a gasket!
Sadly, this is a bit misleading. The process here is wrong.
My 2002 Getz has 235,000 ks on the clock and doesnt miss a beat. Cheap yes nasty no lol

Very cheap and a little nasty. Agreed.

@@OffGridInvestor Cheap thats why.. If i knew how bad my getz would be long term, i would have saved and bought a better car, and or second hand !~
absolute senseless incoherent clarification... 👎👎👎👎
