@@yanr4n Hey Yanr4n js wanted to ask idk if youll see this but basicallly i want to study law at either cambridge or oxford ive set my goals to the highest standard but ive gotten 6s as gcses and i go to a medium rated sixth form college ,will that affect my application in either way if my gcses arent good enough or the school i go to is frowned upon,i study a level law,a level politics and a level economics btw:)))
@@HpLrMrL Obviously I can't comment on their screening process for sure, but as far as I'm aware the rating of your sixth form won't directly affect your application. GCSE wise, they don't have any direct requirements, however they will be used as part of forming an overall 'image' of who you are a student. The 6s at GCSE shouldn't stop you from applying, as you can definitely make up for it elsewhere, but I'd beware that you'd need to evidence some very strong A-Level predicted grades :)
Hi yanrraannn I’ll start off by saying congrats on getting into Cambridge I hope you’ll have a wonderful time there. I just quickly wanna ask about physics mark schemes in the written form questions. I wanna ask how strict they are in terms of wording to get the marks. Do they only want the key words included or is it like in biology where the entire phrase needs to be word for word like the mark scheme. Side note I do the international a level edexcel (but I assume the stuff is the same)
Hi! Thank you so much :) The mark scheme in physics is organised by phrases for the mark. So for each phrase I'd say if you've written something with the same effect you'll get the mark (it's up to your examiner as to whether or not they think you've done that, but word for word is definitely not required). Words in bold are required however, and you'll need to be far more precise with definitions.
thank you!! i didn't take bio but my friend said this - every page of textbook make a flashcard (key definitions, key processes, key vocab for mark schemes). she said good to start now as you'll only have to do a couple of flashcards after each lesson - even though some questions are just knowledge based, the large majority are on applications so if you don't know your past papers inside out you won't be able to properly gauge what kind of things are going to come up based solely on the content (particularly the types of question they ask. e.g. 'suggest' something you know the answer won't be in the textbook so you have to apply your knowledge sensibly, but 'desribe' you know you need to hit the words in textbook and mark scheme she said overall if you know the textbook inside out but you haven't done any exam practice you're going to score pretty badly - focus on a blend between covering content and PPQs alongside
i'm glad! i probably studied minimum 8 hours a day during year 12 and 10 hours a day during year 13 (although obviously had rest days when necessary) x
Hi, Im currently at as level and I was wondering how difficult a level Further maths is as I am considering taking it at a level to better my chances of gettinf into a good uni How much harder is it then maths and is it worth taking a 4th subject?
I think it's a significant bit harder than A-Level maths, but I found it to be a really rewarding subject and if you were fine at AS you will probably be find to continue it. I don't think the difficulty really ramps up that much from AS to A2. If you want to take Maths or Physics or Engineering (or anything similar) at uni I think you'll find FM to be really beneficial
I'd say FM gets less difficult with time - the first few months are really weird but if you can get into it I found it to be a really rewarding A-Level. Focus on understanding to start - my teacher described a lot of FM as 'learning the alphabet', as in you're just learning the basics in a lot of topics so watching explaination videos on YT can be great. Also, as with any Maths, practise makes perfect. Good luck!

ok i enlisted the help of a professional (my boyfriend) - he said that geography has a much lesser workload, but overall he thinks economics would probably be more useful. depends ig if you'd rather take the easier option for the better grade or if you're not so worried about grades and you want to go for something that may well be more use to you later on
@@Danisdiaryy economics 100% trust me. Geography although has less 'complex' concepts (its mostly memorisation), economics is actually quite easy (most people get a B minimum). The questions the examboards ask are pretty much the same thing each year, economics for me was also a lot more fun than geography. I did not enjoy learning about coastal landscapes, memorising everything about the UN, case studies about the Australian drought. Unless you're really into physical geography, i highly do not recommend and would 100% go through with economics.
the modules are physics, material sciences, earth sciences, and maths so they're alternating teaching us between them (would much rather be doing maths rn anyway)
