Mine and My Cats Experience with Solensia
On November 16, 2023, I took my 14-year-old male Bengal, Cassius, to the vet for his routine vaccinations, bloodwork, and urine analysis. At this visit, I mentioned he was favouring his front right paw and had a slight limp. An observation I would regret bringing to my veterinarian's attention. His test results showed he had the beginning of kidney disease and placed on a diet for cats with kidney disease. Upon the vet testing the flexibility of his front and back legs, he had the signs of arthritis. That's when I heard the word 'Solensia' for the first time. A word that will haunt me for the rest of my life. It was touted as a wonder drug for cats with arthritis. I agreed to my cat receiving his first shot of Solensia. There was no change when he returned on December 19, 2023, for his second shot of Solensia, the vet had informed me that there were cases of Solensia improving a cat's mobility within days of receiving Solensia. And other cases that saw no improvement for 3 months.
On January 18, 2024, we went back to the vet and there was no improvement in Cassius. I was advised that because Cassius weighed 10 kg, he was a big cat, that he required 2 shots of Solensia. I agreed to this because there had been no improvement and he did weigh 10 kg. Within days of this double dose of Solensia, I began seeing changes. One evening Cassius was sleeping on the ottoman. He woke up and as he was about to jump off the ottoman, he began urinating. When this happened I attributed it to the kidney disease he had just been diagnosed having. After this incident, changes quickly came. He had retreated to living in the basement. He was no longer eating dry food. He ate small quantities of wet food. He no longer wanted his real chicken which he loved. I had to resort to feeding him broth. At the very end, he wasn't even licking the broth. He drank excessive amounts of water up until the end. His pupils became dilated within days of receiving the Solensia. He just wanted to sleep curled up in a chair with me all day and slept with me every evening. He would wake up with every intention of going to his litter box; but, every time since receiving the Solensia, he urinated on the edge of whatever chair or bed he was on.
Cassius had become an empty soul. It appeared to me that Solensia had done serious damage to his brain.
On the morning of February 21, 2024, my daughter proceeded to go downstairs to say goodbye to Cassius before heading off to school as she had done for the past 14 years. As she rounded the corner, much to our amazement, Cassius had somehow managed to climb the basement stairs. A task he had not attempted since his Solensia shot in January. He meowed. She picked him up, hugged him and said goodbye, put him back down on the floor. Then his last meow bellowed and he fell over on his side, took his last few breaths, and passed away with us by his side. Our buddy was gone! And with that passing came the following:
    1. Regretting trusting my veterinarian
    2. Not researching Solensia more thoroughly
    3. Regret for allowing this poison to be injected into Cassius
    4. The pain I induced on Cassius
    5. The anger I will forever have in agreeing to Solensia being injected in Cassius
    6. The emotional pain that will forever be with us. One day I know we can tuck his memories in our hearts.
I joined the Solensia, Killed My Cat Facebook group to share Cassius' story with others either considering Solensis or owners with a cat currently experiencing degenerative conditions beginning to wonder about Solensia. The result I want to see is that Solensia will no longer be available. This wonder drug is affecting too many cats to be doing good. It may be helping some cats but not enough in my opinion as there are too many cats dying!
If I were to write the Solensia Mission Statement:
    Solensia - a Euthanasia alternative
giving you and your cat pain in the last few days

Shame on them for lying saying there are no side effects! You can’t possibly know after only 2 clinical trials only using less than 300 dogs per trial. My dog lost absolutely all function from her waist down less than 48hrs after the injection on 4/26/24! After a big round of prednisone and gabapentin she is now on the mend. 5/5/24 she was finally able to wag her tail for the first time since losing feeling, 5/10/24 was the first time she was able to get her feet under her to turn herself around but still could not walk. She still a full month later she is not truly walking like she was prior to the injection! I’m one of the lucky ones that haven’t lost my dog due to the shot (yet anyways because we still aren’t out of the woods)

Animals are DYING. Solensia killed my cat in six days after just one injection and there are hundreds of stories just just like mine. Dogs on Librela are suffering ataxia, deafness, blindness, seizures, lameness, incontinence, sores and more. Be diligent and read our stories before even considering this drug. There are safer options to ease your pets pain with far less risk.

My dog did well on Librela for 10 month, until suddently after his last shot, he wasn't doing well. He became wobbly and would lose his balance/coordination, wouldn't eat and quickly lost 8 pounds, sudden dementia like symptoms such as pacing, barking at the wall, fear of the dark, would 't sleep at night and separation anxiety. We are almost 60 days out from his last injection and he is improving daily! Others were not so lucky 😔

Librela is killing dogs. It killed my dog. The side effects are horrific! She died after the 2nd shot because it caused her to have kidney failure! She was healthy dog. At leasdlt admit that there are side effects. Pathetic.

How can she claim “no side effects?” That is utter BS. One only needs to find one of many FB groups, many with tens of thousands of people, to see that > 75% are having serious issues. Do your homework before you subject your beloved pet to this drug. Look at their trials, which were very small and were controlled by Zoetis. This is basically playing Russian roulette with your dogs well-being.

It is killing pets. Do you even have a pet, you wouldn't risk it if you did. Liar.

Read the negative comments at Librela Class Action and Support, Librela the Truth. Pets are suffering badly after this drug. Make yourself aware before giving this to your pet
