  • In this video the Viva gets its first wash and polish since 1991. I spray paint in a confined space and like the outlaw I am, I don't follow the instructions. As usual fun, tea and biscuits!

I've used some cheap primer before where it said to leave 24hrs... The colour match isn't bad at all. Obviously the ambient lighting isn't good enough to show us how it's dried off, or how much pitting is left in the surface but for a rattlecan test, it's not bad for a first try.

That's better! Incremental improvements. There's a Pinewood green HB in my late Dad's garage. That got rattle canned in more-or less matching greens in the 1980s. Kept the rust at bay on the top. The underpinnings got cut and spliced, the teabag bumpers got binned and the worn out motor (odometer stopped at 168,000 years before the motor got too 'past it') got swapped for a ford......

@@RetroRebuild This particular HB is a bit beyond 'restoration' due to all the mods - done to keep it on the road when spares were unobtainable and dosh was scarce. It is an '80s timewarp - even has a 'mutant' sticker on the back, free with the late lamented AWoL magazine. This was a custom bike mag that featured rats, survival bikes, street fighters, diesel specials, trikes, chopped UJMs and not just Harleys.

I should not let my wife watch your videos. Little viva gets first wash in 30 years. What about you she says, that’s nowhere like your record. And as for your underpants and socks!!!! Too much information you think. Seriously though, lovely to see HC progressing, she will be a sweet little motor when it’s finished. Then you can start on mine!
