Good to see you here to appreciate Sohyang's singing "Love Poem". As you noted, Sohyang is such a vocal master and this song is a wonderfully written song by IU. I am a fan for both Sohyang and IU. When it comes to singing, it's hard to compare to Sohyang. You can hear how she effortlessly navigated the notes in Love Poem and how strongly she delivers the emotional context of the song, particularly when she goes silent or light. Appreciate how you would leave out any comparison between the two artists. To me, Sohyang created another memorable performance with flawless techniques as one would expect. Surprisingly, IU's original version feels more special to me personally. I view this song as an outcry to express support to friends in need and also the desperation and regret for not being there for them at the moment when it mattered. Sohyang's mastery in vocal ability discounted some of sense of desperation because it's done so well. IU's belting gave me more sense of exasperation. Also the background about those intended for this song created additional personal connections between the song and IU. I guess I want to mention that we all have our own responses to music and it's not necessary about competition. Thank you very much for the reaction. Glad the video got through on TH-cam.
Well said,Yukuo Lee! Thank you! I like a singer because , they sing it with feelings and are believable ! SoHyang is my favourite but I enjoy greatly, many other Artists! In her case I feel drawn even closer because of her Character( who she is as a. Person) and it’s not just emotion she sings with it’s a Passion-- she has real-- SOUL! Don’t like all these comparisons/ or Battles set up to compare two singers! All it does is promote Hate amongst rival Fans! Hate is not what music is about, it should pull people together, not tear them Apart! Have a Great Day , All!
I have both IU and Sohyang Love Poem playing in my car. Oh, by the way, those are the only two songs in my current playlist. Both versions are beautiful. IU with the full band and studio performance and Sohyang with keyboard and guitar live performance.

Really? "pretty much every video she's released" I've seen hundreds of her performance videos and there are over a thousand I haven't. Many complete POS concerts; Hip hop releases with rappers like E-San and Ha Ha; covers in Chinese like "Sweet as Honey"; gospel concerts as with Kirk Franklin; crossover concerts with Sumi Jo, Kai, Josh Groban etc.; all the OST music videos and live performances of OST songs; extracts of her onstage as Maria in "The Sound of Music" .... She's been a busy since 1996 in many genres people are unaware
