First, It’s good to watch you “prepare” a field. Most just harvest the crop, bush hog the stalks and sod plant! Second, my grandpa on Daddy’s side had a hand crank sheller made by John Deere! I miss those days, love watching your posts because you’re keeping those ways going! God Bless!
Sorry I am just watching the video Bill. Thanks for sharing. Old 7000 is a great planter. Hope you get a good stand and you continue to get some rain. Take care.
They are looking for 4 bolts on all "hot farm " tractors up here. I'm not surprised unfortunately. Your tractor sounds awesome. I miss my old 7200 corn planter. Have a happy father's day brother Bill
I’m being waiting on this video of planting corn , the old school stuff shelling your corn and using cow manure that saves money . Good luck with your corn
Wow! You are going Hi Tech with the 7000 planter! I expected a 494A, or maybe a 1294. Dang, those were good planters. Could still use a trip wire for 3 way cultivation. Great video! And Charlie always has good stories.😂
I think any piece of farm equipment over 30 years old is considered an antique to today's farmers. We had a JD #43 PTO corn sheller, really enjoyed shelling corn from the corn crib, just not shoveling the cobs from the crib. That #43 had a blower that blew the shelled corn into a wagon, cobs were fairly well broken up and was the very best bedding in the chicken coop, much easier to clean than straw and cheaper than buying wood chips
That’s cool! Wasn’t expecting that! It was a nice surprise to see! We had one but I never got to hear it run. Dad then sold it to another farmer near by. Saw it just last year, again didn’t hear it run.
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 Spoken like a tractorpuller. Thank you sir. I have a vegetable garden that I plow the rows weekly for the weeds and moles. Live in the woods so keeping the roots from rotting is a problem. Seems like my garden tractor and disc harrow are kind of solving all the problems. I usually plow in low second gear. Old craftsman 20 horse. With high low. I know I can't plow in 3 high il bust the front wheels off. I like your response. Thank you. Love your pullin tractor content
Hey Bill, what's happening man ? Those 7000 planters are the cat's meow ! Do you plant 18,000 seeds per acre? I never tried open pollinated seeds. Depending on variety of hybrid I planted 18,000 to 24,500 with DeKalb. Pioneer was 24,500 to 27,500 , just slowed the tractor down to plant 18,000. My uncle probably made your planter he worked at Deere Planter works 30 years. Long time retired now.

Yeah, I'm a regular "Jet Setter"!😅
Really nice video. I hope you have a good corn crop.
Hey, thanks Terry! Great to hear from you.
When I was a young kid, I loved to hand crank a sheller just like that. It looked too fast to me too.
just finished planting 150 acres feed corn here in northeast tennessee
I hope you have a great growing season!
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 ty you also timely rain is key for us as you also
I do the same thing. Save some decent cobs for seed, shell them out, clean it in the wind and then plant. It all seems to work out!
Hey I'm glad to hear it's working for other guys too!

We had one of those corn shellers but it got away from us, a young fella needed it more than us.😏
Bill if I had a penny for all the acres of corn planted with a 7000 John Deere planter around the world , I would be a billionaire.
Had it right the first time 😂 I know that feeling 😂
Happy Father's Day Bill !!!
Probably the best planter ever built. Is that like a herlum seed.
I used a hand crank corn sheller like that many moons ago Do ya put down any fertilizer when ya plant your corn thanks for the video
I put good amount of manure down before I plowed, I'll probably top dress later.
Bill you need a few white corn cobs to go with the red ones you will probably know why but most people wont!
HaHa, Thought about bringin' that up, but let it slide!🤭
You can use them cobs on both sides:)!
We plant with a 494 john deere planter and a 3010
Great Bobby, keep up the good work.
LOL ! Corn Cobs !
great video
Thanks for the visit.
Love your vidiepos
Was that a glimpse of a 1010 there in the middle?
Yeah, using that clip as one of my "transitions".😉

What gear do you recommend for plowin?
Fast as your tractor can take it, with in reason of course.😲

Hey Dan! yeah, it's around 18,000, never took the time to get an exact count.😁
