- Sorry for late video response. I am graduating in 3 weeks and its been busy. In the video, you can see how I setup my phone to work with my deck with ARLiberator. The app is really expensive but it is totally worth it. If you have any questions, please comment and I will try to help. I am unsure how to go about Iphones since I do not own an Iphone.
Thats great to hear! Weird how that MHL adapter causes so many problems if you don't get a specific one. My touch controls work fine except for the glitches I mentioned in the video. Try Fix Drivers and Calibrating the ARLiberator app and maybe it'll help. Im hoping for an update soon too.
I was seriously having second thoughts on buying this head unit. This just completely changed my mind. Buying it right now. This is bad ass.

I used a HML HDMI adapter. That adapter plugs into your phones charging plug and out the other end is a HDMI input which you connect the hdmi to the rear of the deck. That adapter requires your car charger to be plugged into it as well for it to work. Look it up, its called Samsung HML HDMI adapter. Make sure to get the correct one for your phone. Galaxy S3 adapters and up works with my Note 2
Thanks! I have to look into the new appradio 3. Did not know they were releasing a new one soon so I won't know differences between mine and the new one. This screen does get it's inputs by very small pressure presses. The screen is not as sensitive and accurate like new phones today but it's decent. Its touch screen is similar to the first gen touch screen phones or touch screen computers.
Wiring harness never come with bypass inputs for double din decks so you will need a bypass. If you want to save a little on the bypass, you can wire the handbrake wire to a toggle switch which you just need to flick on and off 3 times. The bypass I got is automatic and no hassels and tucks away nicely behind unit.
I actually had the wrong adapter. I went to Best Buy and brought the same one u are using. Everything is working OK now. My problem is overriding the block to the HDMI signal when the park brake is not activated. Thanks for the help
Depends if your talking about the font that appears when I am on phone mode or radio mode. The text size on phone mode varies on your phones setting for text size. I don't believe our texts are different sizes if on radio mode
You can look into something called Pie. It'll bring up menus when your finger is on edges of the screen. Also memory card don't matter for the deck, it matters for your phone.
All you need is the MHL adapter from Samsung and you should be set. Fair warning, stock pioneer appradio app sucks but it will work.
If your phone product description says anything about HDMI in the mini usb plug then this should work but you WILL need th 5 to 11 pin adapter. Honestly the only way to find out is to buy them and try it. Check forums on that phone

I never experienced lag with my deck could be that your bluetooth is not working like it should. Mayve try a different rom and see if you get same issue. I am using a car charger that I cut into my cigarette plug. I dont have any issues if using a charger of low output but currently it's being charged by a .5amp charger. I did test it using the output of the deck and that way worked but then you loose one of your dual usbs. Also, I believe the decks usbs is rated at 1amp each.
Yes you need all of it.
Mine slowly discharges even though it says charging. If you want to avoid that, you need a 2amp or larger power rating car charger. When the phone is being used for video output and bluetooth, you have to understand that it takes a lot of power to get those going. The charger is pretty much to power the hdmi and bluetooth parts of it when being used.
Can you make a video showing how it looks running google maps or navigation and youtube or netflix? I'm getting ready to buy this radio and these are the only concerns.
Nice video man. Any big difference between this and the new appradio 3 thats coming out? Also, do you have to apply pressure to that screen since it seems different from the appradio or phones screen? Thanks

Did you buy the correct adapter like the one in my video? Cheap MHL adapters dont play too friendly with this deck. Make sure you get official samsung adpaters and good quality hdmi

Sorry, kind of confusing...AppRadio2 (deck) has built in GPS which it turns off the phones GPS since the AppRadio2 deck over powers it. But with the x8500, it doesn't have builtin GPS and since you use AppRadio app, it thinks your using it with a AppRadio deck and it turns off your phones GPS. This results in your phone not providing GPS signals and your App thinking the GPS signals will be picked up by your deck...Check your settings for Mock Locations & have that turned off and c what happens
No, the camera input is for backup camera.

Did you go into settings and "Fix Drivers"? Also, when typing, I found that turning off your continuous swype or swype works better when typing on keyboard.
What cables did you buy? I read a lot of people have issues when they don't buy official Samsung products plus high quality HDMI cable. I don't use any other app, just ARLiberator. Never had a problem when I did run screen timeout but found it pointless since my phones battery still drained the same amount.
I know him personally, he was in the hospital for a week, then was recovering for about a month. long story.. but expect him back in action soon. For sure.

I get no feedback noise and I am using a 3amp cig lighter charger I got on amazon. I gutted the casing of the cig charger and hooked it straight up to a constant 12v
Amazon. Look for micro bypass for pioneer. You can only use ARLiberator with rooted phones.
I am not sure about AppRadio 3 but I don't why it wouldn't work with it. It should be more compatible rather than the AppRadio 2.
Great video thanks im gonna be using a wifi miracast dongle with an HDMI switcher for my android.
I am not too sure of Appradio 3 and ARLiberators capability with each other. I would think that it should work unless Pioneer went with different firmware.

Where did you buy your parking brake bypass? An automatic one sounds much better than a switch you gotta clack on/off three times!
Also, do I have to root my GS4 for it to work with the AVH-X8500BHS like your Note2 does? Does it work better if rooted? Or the same?

Well my friend I've been playing with the new mhl adapter i got and i have no more gps issues locks on quick and everything only problem now is that this arliberator app is still a little to buggy for me on this 8500 my touch controls just are not working properly so spending 35 bucks on the app hopefully it will have more updates to fix these small problems
All you need is the Samsung MHL adapter and you are set.

Oh ok yeah im using arlib....but I'll check with the mock location settings as well but I also have the new Samsung mhl 2.0 adapter coming later on today gonna c if that makes a difference
but if it's just your navi that is not working, then your cable is fine. The cable does not do anything for GPS...For my phone, Mock Location Enabled settings is in Developer Options and it is actually called "Allow Mock Locations" and mine has no check mark on it. Also my USB Debugging is checked on tho.
Have you tried the HML cord with your home tv? Give it a try and see if it works with your HDTV through hdmi. If it does work, then the deck just does not support that cable and you should buy the adapter that I have in the video. Go on Amazon and you'll find it "Samsung MHL HDMI Galaxy S3". Let me know how it goes.
I read that many people didnt have any luck with pioneers kit. Best to buy official samsung adpaters and good quality hdmi cable
Tru but the same thing happens in the house on the tv no gps signal when mhl adapter is plugged in but I got it for the price as the older model and with the newer cable its no need for a power supply for it to work

I know but I'm saying that the AppRadio app was built for the AppRadio2 deck and not this x8500...Also I was asking if you are using ARLiberator or Pioneers AppRadio app?
What charger are you using for the MHL cable? And is there any strange noise from the phone charging? Do I have to use my cigarette lighter or can I get another charging dock?

I have a Galaxy Note 2 rooted with Jedi X15 and ArLilb. Everything works fine except during the stock phone app on the home screen, my keypad and settings are not visible. The phone pairs with the Appradio. I can hear audio through the speakers during a call, but cannot enter a phone number through the Appradio or transmit voice through the microphone.
Have you had this issue?

My Note II only gets hot if I leave my center console closed like how I did in the video. Every now and then I will open it, let it get some air to cool, then shut it again. Also IDK why people is having GPS issues..I never had a problem with it. Are you rooted using ARLiberator? With AppRadio 2 deck, they have built in GPS which turns off your phones GPS. This is a problem with Pioneers app. On ARLiberator, I don't have "Mock Locations Enabled" on...Unchecked means it will leave your GPS on
Will this work with any Pioneer radio? I have the 3500 in my new truck. I had this radio in the one I traded in. It's got all the same functionality, just different model, but I never heard about doing this until now. It's not an "android supported" radio. Does that matter? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick question, can this be done on any of the 2014 range of Pioneer HU's? Particularly 2690BT or 5690BT?
I have this same unit but the Australian version and I get sever lag you don't seem to have that at all. I'm using a galaxy nexus so maybe it's that your phone is more powerful? Do you use the usb port from rear of the unit to power mhl? Do you no the output of the usb?

stupid question but how does the navigation work with the radio? Say you have the navigation running does it allow you to play have the music playing in the background?
I use google navi. I don't have any issues at all...Are you using ARLiberator or stock Pioneer AppRadio App?

Using the App Sound Mixing option, if I have a navigation app running on my phone connected to the deck via bluetooth, could I listen to the navigation directions while also listening to the radio?

danterakin Hi, I own the same pioneer unit and I just bought the new samsung galaxy s6, 2 questions... 1st, does my phone need to be rooted or do I just need to purchase the app? 2nd. what program do you use to convert your videos in order to put them in your sd card, I bought a 32 gb sd card class 10 and I've tried so many programs to convert videos to the right resolution but I always end up with a very pixelated result or my unit will say that it can't play the file. The video that you showed here seems alright.... Thank you

Have you tried MX Player for video? I use it on my tablet and it lets me FF/Rew using the touchscreen on the tablet. I'm curious if it works on the 8500 too?
I have a HML chord installed on my APPradio (connected to the back). My Galaxy Note II is not working. I went o best buy and spoke with a guy from the Geek Squad. He said I needed to by an additional HDMI adapater. Why? providing there is nothing wrong the HML chord that Im currently using, why is it not working?
Hi danterakin, I am sorry to disturb you but I would like to know where do I connect the HDMI cable in the X8500BHS. I rooted my samsung galaxy S3 and I want to use ARLIBERATOR to control my phone from the dash. I just bought an MHL adapter from amazon, and I have a HDMI cable to use... but I have been reading that the 8500 does not have HDMI port, so.... what do I do? where do I connect the HDMI.

Hi, do you by any chance know of this ARLiberator works on Pioneer AVH - X4600BT? I know it have the capability of mirroring my note 2 to my hu, but required a $100 mirrorlink adapter from Pioneer. The reason I got the avh-x4600bt was to able to use the mirror function. I rather pay $29.99 for the app instead of blowing $100 for the adapter. Thanks. My phone is a note2 t889 running Jedi X17.

the HDMI input should be near the center of the rear of the unit. Look at my other video that I posted before this one and I show the back of it and explain where the inputs and plugs are. If you have further trouble, let me know

IDK about the guy. I think he coded it for his personal use, worked for him and then he moved on and disappeared to leave us hanging with no support.
Ok so i just installed this radio into my ride... bottom line luv it, i will be hooking up my box an amp plus phone, just some Q's so i don't have to keep removing the radio, which app do i install, my main thing is video youtube netflix, i use mx pro on my note 2, it plays everything, will it mirror flv f4v files to play on the screen,my os on my note is 4.1.2 pioneer site says 4.1.1, what is ROM im hearing about as it seems i need it, i don't mind paying for an app i mind paying for an app that doesn't reach my expectations, any feedback would be greatly appriciated
I just bought an AVH-X2600BT and i wonder does this stuff work for me and my samsung galaxy s5 (android version 4.4.2) (IF i ofc buy all the needed cables and god knows what more) ?

I've had the radio installed now for about 3 weeks with ARLiberator and my Note 2 ROOTED with framaroot. I love the setup but I can't get and Maps or Navigation to work properly. I've also noticed some cell phone reception loss. By any chance have you worked through these issues? Any help would be much appreciated.

The 7500 can't do android. It doesn't have hdmi
What do you mean it goes up and down? Did you calibrate the screen? Are you using ARLiberator? Be more specific and detailed
I just ordered the X7500BT and found an android hook up (Pioneer CD-AH200). Will this work with the arliberator?

Guillermo Figueroa it is not compatible. Only for the double din stereos.
