Better one turn touchdowns defences in Blood Bowl?

  • This video shows some alternative one turn touchdown defences to just backlining players in the backfield. Some of them may even be better! ;)
Please let me know if you spot any issues, or have any setups that I didn't cover in the comments!
The probabilities in this video should be taken with a pinch of salt: The values assumes an easy ball retrieval (no touch back) no kick off events like blizzard, rain, perfect defense, riot or quick snap. It also excludes the possibilities of a bonus third push, which in some cases could avoid a nasty dodge!

Again thanks for the video! Now that I am thinking about it, the scaven can get another push in your first example as well. Just hand of from the square abot the TD Gutter. Then do your 2 push. If the Ork ist still standing, you can form another bock ans push one more square. This way you save one gfi and one 3+ doge. Thanks to your video my one turns are getting better. :)

You mean at 0:39? Nice spot, relies on doing a Rush by the Skaven thrower to fill Rank 13, column K (in my example anyway...). Also the gutter would need the movement to reach Rank 14, J. Worth doing if you have the movement, a Rush to save a Rush and the 3+ dodge. Would need to do the maths if multiple Rushes are required (especially if you lost the re-roll getting the initial pushes).

Thanks for the interesting Video. However I think that the scaven coach can do better in your second example. If the blitiung Scaven does not follow and runs to the right square, the Gutter can be pushed another square. Even if he does not, the scaven can still form another Box (1:23 in your video) and make one more 2d Push bevore the Handof. This might not work, but if it does, the pick up gutter can still reach with one 2+Doge. Now that doge has a RR build in, the handof is now a 2+ and you get rid of one 2+ gfi. Still a great video that made me think. :)

Thanks for your comments! I covered probabilities of scoring touchdowns with potential bonus pushes in some of my previous videos doing one turn touch down demos. In this one, I decided to keep it simple and just compare "like for like" assuming the 2nd push (or 3rd push in the hole technique) was a pow. Not ideal, as the extra push can avoid a nasty dodge in some of these examples...
It has made me think that these setups needs names, like the boat, chevrons and cups for normal defenses... :)

and one more thought (4:13 video time) again, do a third push here, if the pushed Ork is still standing! Had of from one square higher than in the video. Then push as you do. Then use the spare gutter in the back right beside the TD gutter to make one more box. If you push or pow the Ork now, the gutter gains a crutial square while pushing one of the roadblock away. Now it is a 3+3+2+doge and 2+gfi.

Yes, good point at 4:30 you could fill 13F & 14E. Just a 3+2+ dodge and 2+ gfi then? They'd need 4 pushes and 11 players though. Also assumes you didn't have to run the Thrower into the backfield to throw the ball to the Gutter runner, for them to hand off.
I've been using this one for a while now defending as Undead, getting just 3 pushes on a mummy is proving tricky! Some coaches have tried to go down the right, or just give up and setup for the Riot instead. When I have a moment, I am going to to a follow up on the going down the right technique.

There's a link in the description. It's pretty handy for practising chain pushes!
